immera’s development into a heartland for Victorian renewable energy production has continued with the unveiling of plans for a $200-million solar farm east of Horsham.
Officials from leading Australian solar-farm developer ESCO Pacific outlined project details at a community meeting in Horsham Town Hall last night. It is about to lodge an application for a planning permit with Horsham Rural City Council
roads, would be a ‘utility scale’ solar farm with a capacity of producing up to 130 megawatts of power, the equivalent energy needed to power 60,000 homes. It would include about 340,000 solar photovoltaic modules – identical to solar panels installed on domestic houses throughout Australia but larger in size. The plans will be on ground-mounted frames that slowly track the daily horizontal movement of the sun.
