Here’s A Sneak Peek at Some of What We’ll Cover In Baby on Track®

Specific guidance on feeding, sleeping and red flags.

Program Description:

Six weekly LIVE online sessions with Amy and Evelyn Guttmann, expert OTs and neurodevelopmental specialists. Resources and assignments provided to supplement live sessions A private Telegram chat only for Baby on Track® participants. 9-week direct access to the Guttmann sisters.

Presented By:

Amy and Evelyn Guttmann, Neurodevelopmental OTR/L Hands on Approaches

I could have avoided many issues with my older children had Guttmann's Baby on Track® been available when they were younger.

This course is a goldmine of info! Lots of things to implement I’ve already seen improvements in my baby-eating solids

Jennifer Goldman

I took Baby on Track® because I was tired of hearing that all my kids need therapy. I wish I'd had it when I had my first kid, but I'm glad to have access to it now. It’s the course every new parent should take.

ESTHER RAPAPORT

NINE A.M. IS A COMPLETELY FICTIONAL STORY WHICH TAKES PLACE FIFTY YEARS AFTER THE HOLOCAUST.

RECAP OF CHAPTER 61: Naomi’s vague message to Binyamin about the confusing phone call leaves Binyamin puzzled and uptight. Finally, during the hectic pre-Pesach, matzah-baking days, an opportunity comes up for the two to safely meet in person.

CHAPTER SIXTY TWO

A note in the office on Elky’s desk: Elky, please come over to me as soon as possible. It’s urgent. Eva.

“What’s going on, Eva?” Elky fingered the note in her right hand.

Eva Sherer was to the point, as always. “Did you write something on the back of your hours report? Something about having to earn enough, even if you have no energy, because you can’t imagine being poor?”

Elky looked at her silently, neither confirming nor denying.

“I identified the note based on the huge number of hours in the report, and a bit based on your handwriting. I have no idea who

you wrote it to, and what you planned to do with the paper, but it landed up in the Wangels’ garden, or near it, and they are very irritated.”

“About what it says there?” Elky could hardly get the words out.

“No, that there was garbage on the ground like that.”

“Really!” Elky huffed. “You know, it happens that sometimes, pieces of paper fly around the camp!”

“Yes, but I guess you caught the Hauptmann in a very sour mood, and it was a relatively big piece of paper. I didn’t tell them who wrote it, but they are waiting for an answer about it. I would suggest that you approach them, apologize, and promise that it won’t happen again.”

“Who…who knows about this?” Elky’s fingers crushed the small note into a tiny ball.

“The Wangels, as I told you.”

“No. Who in the camp?”

“Just my father, but I didn’t tell him exactly what was written there.”

Elky closed her eyes for a moment. “Fine,” she whispered a few seconds later. “Thanks, Eva.”

“And the note that I wrote to you—please throw it into the trash basket right now.” A small, crooked smile lifted the corners of Eva’s lips. “That way, I won’t be the next in line to have to apologize.”

Leo Sherer hurried into the office, cutting off the conversation that had come to an end in any case. “Another morning down the drain,” he snapped, without looking in Elky’s direction. “But let them figure it out with Wangel; I’m out of the picture. Can you prepare me a cup of tea, Eva?”

“Sure, Papa. What’s going on?”

“It’s about their matzos. They really are baking again this morning.”

Elky retreated to her corner. All she needed was to be blamed that Mottel went out to bake matzos again this morning. Lots of the frum young men had volunteered, so that they could finish the job as quickly as possible.

“Not to mention who is there now.” His face clouded. “David. And I know you’re not supposed to mix into your married kids’ lives, but I’m going to be having a word about this with Suzy.”

“Don’t waste your energy, Papa. What can she do? It’s her husband, and this is his choice.”

“Their choice,” he corrected her. “Thanks for the tea.” He looked at her, as if he wanted to say something more, but that something apparently needed more privacy, and he sat down and began to sip his hot drink without another word.

“I’ll go out now to the sewing room, to speak to some of the workers about filling out their reports,” Elky said, feeling like she had no air in the room. Not because of the conversation between Leo and his daughter, but because of the one that had preceded it. How could she speak to Katarina? Maybe if the Hauptmann would be near the sewing room, and she’d be in a calm enough mood, she’d be able to go over and apologize.

The minute she left the office, Leo raised his eyes.

“The one who is the most bothersome right now in the Orthodox group is the Shvirtz boy. But believe me that if he was one of ours, I would take him for you. He’s intense, powerful. But of course, the last thing I need is another Orthodox son-in-law.”

Eva shrugged. “I’m young, Papa, and I’m not really interested in thinking about marriage right now.”

“The prospects right now are not very impressive,” Leo said. “At least not to me. And there isn’t anyone your age either—they are all either too old or too young. But at a certain point, we’ll have to compromise. I can’t think of you staying single for too much longer.”

gaze. “Huh? What made you decide that?”

“I came to help you kasher the kitchen!” Binyamin announced when Aryeh opened the door in the evening.

“Welcome. And what’s with Mamme’s kitchen?” Naomi asked as she bent over the last stain on the metal table that was attached to the wall.

“Mamme only wants to deal with her kitchen tomorrow,” he said as he closed the door behind him. “Let’s go. What are we boiling the water in? I have half an hour.”

Aryeh rolled the water kettle over to him, and Binyamin turned to the faucet. “Your water pressure is a bit weak. Do you not have enough water in the barrel on the roof? After this whole winter?” he said after a minute.

“I was also surprised. I thought I’d have to go soon to the water pump to fill it up again, but I think it’s actually a small blockage in the pipe, and it just needs to be changed,” Aryeh said. The water continued flowing from the faucet with a gentle whooshing sound.

Binyamin half smiled and lowered his voice. ““I’m not worried about the speed. Nu, Naomi, start already! We’ll talk quietly, but we have to talk!”

She sat down on the chair and began to talk. She described her two phone conversations with Hanter from the spices factory. The water flowed into the big samovar, and Aryeh and Naomi carried it together to the gas. Aryeh lit the fire, and Binyamin put the cover on. Then he leaned on the wall and listened with an inscrutable expression, not saying or asking anything until Naomi finished speaking.

Even after she finished, he struggled to find the words. “And you think that it’s really…”

“If I heard correctly, it is real,” she whispered.

“If? You think you imagined it?”

“Yes.”

“I don’t think so.”

Naomi fixed her brother with a

“I think that out of fear, your brain decided to treat this whole concept as something delusional and illogical.”

“Since when did you become a brain doctor?”

“I’m simply trying to think reasonably,” he said.

“But why are you talking about fear? Why should I be afraid? If indeed this is true, and they no longer rule the world, then it’s very good news!” she whispered, though she knew very well how right he was.

“Yes, but it’s also news that creates tension, if it’s true. The thought of what is really happening outside our walls, if until now we have been fed lies…and to think about entire lives that were wasted here, when everyone on the outside already celebrated the fall of the Nazis years ago…” He looked like it was an effort not to grit his teeth.

Naomi was quiet, and the sound of the boiling water bubbling suddenly filled the quiet room.

“I also think Naomi did not imagine what she heard, even if she missed a couple of words they said here and there,” Aryeh whispered. He wrapped his hands in two large towels. “The question is something else. The war was over about fifty years ago. Do you really think there’s a chance that the Nazi regime hasn’t existed since then?”

“That’s not what I was told,” Naomi hurried to clarify. “It’s not clear to me at which point the Nazis stopped being in power. But…” She took a deep breath. “Germany fell then.

The Wehrmacht and the SS ceased to exist. Hitler, yemach shemo, also died then, according to that Hanter woman. But—”

“What do you mean that Germany fell and the Nazis did not? How do you explain that?”

“Well, maybe Germany surrendered to other countries.”

“While the Nazi regime continued to exist inside it?” Binyamin asked.

“Yes. And maybe in Austria, too. The

Cosmos-Fuhrer was Austrian, you know.”

“You know what I think?” He burst into quiet laughter, even as he hurried to help his brother-inlaw, who was about to work with the large, boiling samovar on his own. “Who said that we’re even in Austria? Maybe we’re in America!”

“Zeide and Babbe and all the old people remember very well how they got here,” Naomi declared. “They didn’t cross the ocean— that much is for sure. And they also saw road signs. We’re on the mountainous Austrian border, on one of the endless mountainsides. There’s no doubt about that, at least.”

“I think that there’s no doubt about what you heard either, unless Hanter had some reason to lie to you.”

“And to make up that they are Jews? When it’s the greatest danger for a human being?”

Binyamin didn’t answer. His hands were also wrapped in towels, and together with Aryeh, they lowered the samovar to the ground. “You know what I really think?” he said after a moment, as his eyes suddenly darkened. “I think this is what our father heard. And that’s why they murdered him.”

Aryeh and Naomi were quiet.

“And that means that we have to be very, very careful as we think about what we do going forward.”

Naomi moved a step back from the steaming water. “Forward to where?”

“To the next step in our inquiries.”

“In any case, in two nights is the first Seder,” Aryeh concluded. “The festival of freedom. I think we should take a break from this whole subject, and after Yom Tov we’ll think again about what we should

do. Elkovitz hasn’t spoken to you in the meantime?”

“No, he’s being evasive. And believe me, I tried to grill him, when you didn’t want to talk.”

“His wife was standing here next to me and heard a few words of the first conversation. She’s probably hysterical and warned him not to dare get involved in it,” Naomi said.

“Maybe she’s also connecting all of this to what happened to Tatte and is trembling with fright. By the way, she didn’t hear the main part of the conversation. But I see that this was enough for her.” She took a deep breath.

“I think you should go out now, when we are busy with this boiling water,” Aryeh said.

“Okay,” Naomi agreed. “I’ll go hang some laundry.” She took the basket outside, somewhat happy to escape the conversation, in addition to the steam and humidity inside.

Although it was getting later, Erev Pesach was clearly felt. People were walking along the paths as if it was the lunch break, and Naomi waved to Chaya Kush who passed near her yard.

“Hello, hello!” Chaya called out. “Nu, where are you up to?”

“Baruch Hashem, baruch Hashem.” Naomi set the basket on the ground near the clothesline.

“It’s too bad they’re not extending the deadline for being outside today, isn’t it?”

“At least on the Sederim nights they do,” Naomi said in response. She smiled. She was looking forward to Pesach. And if she’d just be able to take a real break from all these thoughts, as Aryeh had suggested, it would be wonderful.

But she wasn’t quite sure she’d succeed at that.

Recap: Chayala is still in critical condition. Her grandparents come to see her. On Shabbos, they find out that Chayala’s lungs have collapsed.

We rush to the hospital as soon as Shabbos is over. Baruch Hashem, by the time we get there, the doctors have managed to stabilize Chayala, and she is still hanging in there.

Over the next few days, Chayala remains stable, and at the end of the week, after two weeks of being on a ventilator, she is able to be taken off! This begins Chayala’s journey to recovery. Baruch Hashem, she slowly gets better and better. It is slow and steady, and I am so grateful that it is an upward spiral. It is hard to watch how much she was set back, though. She had been about to leave the hospital, and now she is back at square one, just like when

she was just born. I try to focus on the positive. Chayala is alive and slowly progressing. The ROP disease in her eyes, which had been so bad - it was one level away from needing medical intervention, starts going away on its own, something almost unheard of. After further testing, it is discovered that the brain bleed she suffered two days after birth, which the doctors advised would leave her severely handicapped, turns out to have been so small and negligible, it didn’t cause her any damage. When I look for it, I can find so many wonderful things going right, and putting an emphasis on them encourages me. Three months later:

Chayala has made so much progress, we are ready to think about her coming home again! This time, the doctors are not taking any chances. She would be coming home on the oxygen. However, the doctors really want

“Are you sure we can’t just take her home?” I ask the doctor.

Chayala to transfer to a special children’s rehab first, where they can help wean her off the oxygen and feeding tube. I really just want her to come home already, though. It has been seven long months, and I think the best place for Chayala, where she will get the best care and make the most progress, is at home.

“Are you sure we can’t just take her home?” I ask the doctor.

“Absolutely not. She needs to be in a rehab, with experienced professionals, to help her develop properly. There is no way I can discharge her to come home with you. I can only send her to a rehab facility.”

As hard as we push and as much as we try to fight it, the doctors refuse to give in. I decide to be stubborn and try to find a different solution, instead of following what the doctors instruct. This is the best option for my daughter, and I am not willing to give up so fast.

After a lot of thought and consultation with askanim, we try a different route. I reach out to Chayala’s pulmonologist and cardiologist, specialty doctors, and ask them their opinion. I reassure them that we will be giving Chayala the best possible care at home, and explain that I feel this is the environment she will thrive best in.

The cardiologist leans back in his seat and thinks for a minute, then nods slowly. “Normally, I wouldn’t do this, but have seen over the past few months how devoted you are to your daughter’s care. I believe you when you say you will give her

everything she needs.”

The pulmonologist concurs, and so do one or two other doctors, and armed with a signed directive from them stating that we don’t need to take Chayala to rehab, we approach her regular doctor again. This time, he has no choice but to grudgingly acquiesce to our request.

I am ecstatic. Chayala is coming home! It is hard to believe that we have reached this point again. After seven long months, travel\ ling back and forth each day to and from the hospital, and watching Chayala’s progress and setbacks, we are finally reaching the end of this saga. I realize though, that besides for the rush of excitement coursing through me, there are also shivers of fear and a tingling of uncertainty. Last time Chayala was supposed to get discharged, she almost died. Even though I don’t think it will happen again, and the doctors are being much more careful, the circumstances still bring a feeling of déjà vu, and I hope this time will work out better than last.

Then the doctors inform us that before Chayala goes home, she needs to have a procedure done.

“It is a simple procedure, just inserting the feeding tube so you can take her home,” the doctor tries to reassure us. I don’t feel at all reassured after what happened at the last procedure, and my nerves are taut, fear enveloping me like a cloud. I put all my energy into davening that this procedure goes smoothly. • TO BE CONTINUED

“PUT YOUR COATS AND BRIEFCASES IN THE CLOSET”

I think this ranks high on the list of my most common refrains. I sure do hope my children learn more important things from me though! In my opinion, if there’s one space that you want super put together, it should be your coat closet. This is the closet that your guests will be seeing in its full glory. Additionally, coat closets have the potential to come out stunning once organized. Theres something so pleasing to the eyes about nice cloth bins with matching hangers. Let’s do this!

MEET THE MOM OF THE YEAR- PERI R.:

It was so nice to meet Peri R! Peri is a stay-at-home mom with a bunch of little children. It was evident to me what a devoted mother Peri is, by just chatting with her for a bit.

Peri’s biggest closet in her home is, ironically, her coat closet. Needless to say, some random things (such as crafts) have made themselves comfortable in there since there is nowhere else to place them. My goal was to organize the closet and designate a specific space for everything. Since her biggest category was crafts, we emptied out two shelves to make place for a crafting zone. Follow along how we divided the rest of her closet items.

BINS + HANGERS = A PRETTY AND PRACTICAL MUDROOM

Bins and hangers are all you need for a pretty and practical mudroom/coat closet. This is where you can have loads of fun!! Look around for pretty fabric bins. The options are unlimited. I can literally shop fabric bins for hours!! Then for some added fun, choose matching or at least coordinating hangers. You won’t believe the transformation!

COAT CLOSET CATEGORIES- SOME OF WHICH YOU NEVER DREAMT OF:

The key to keeping your coat closet in order is to have very clear categories. I find that coat closets have people shamelessly dumping whatever they want into it.

Below I have listed a large range of categories that can be found in a coat closet. You will of course narrow it down to how much space you have in the closet.

Rain Gear- This would include umbrellas, rain bonnets, hat protectors, and raincoats if you wish.

Winter Gear- All of your gloves, hats, scarves etc.

Summer Stuff- this was one of the more unique categories that we did in Peri’s closet. She now has a grab-and-go bin with bubbles, balls, and sunscreen.

Baby Gear- Babies come with a lot of stuff- no exaggeration necessary. In this bin you would want to include carriage parts such as an extra bunting, snow suits, and stroller muffs.

Outgoing box- I love this one! This bin is designated for all the stuff that need to get out of the house such as tailoring, donations to the gemach, library books, and that amazon return that your husband will never do unless you stick it on his windshield wipers.

Jackets- Ok ladies, were getting controversial over here! Any self-respecting balabusta would never fold her childs (imitation) Moncler jacket into a bin. However, I find that the jacket season is so short that it’s not worth designating hanging space for it.

Snacks and water bottles- Moms of big boys, this ones for you! This works well since its grab and go. Perfect for the boy who makes the bus by a sheer miracle every day.

ADDITIONAL TIPS TO FOOL YOUR GUESTS INTO THINKING THAT YOU’VE GOT IT ALL TOGETHER:

Since your coat closet is basically the preview of your home, it would be a good idea to invest in some good potpourri envelopes to put into your closet.

MATCHING HANGERS- any will do. No need to take out a mortgage to pay for fancy acrylic and gold hangers.

Hooks placed on kids height level can help tame the coat/briefcase disaster.

If your children don’t hang up their briefcases, I like to place a PRETTY fabric bin on the floor for them to place their briefcases into. I know it’s not ideal but it sure beats tripping on briefcases in your entryway.

Dear Readers, Thank you all for following along! I gotta say, it’s been loads of fun!!

Constipation Cleared

The quick and smooth results of the Tahua Action and Motion combination surprised me. Within a short time, my constipation was cleared and my vibrant energy restored.

Tahua Explains: When constipated, the body uses a lot of extra energy because the bloodstream is cluttered by toxins from the waste backup. When the wastes move out efficiently and the bloodstream is clean, there is a lot more energy available and a person feels active and vibrant.

S S STRATEGIES FOR OPTIMUM SUCCESS

Ever notice how there are some people who walk into a room and everybody just gravitates to them like magic? What is it about some people? Is it that you’ve either got it or you don’t?

Patrick King, the author of The Science of Likability, argues that it’s not magic at all. It’s not even an art. It’s a science. We can all use the science of likability to master charisma, attract friends, and cultivate people. King begins his book with a definition of psychology.

King explains two important psychological studies that helped us understand how the subconscious and conscious interact. The first involved a young child called Little Albert who was presented with a white rat. He did not have any associations with rats, so he simply looked at the rat and did not respond. This was a neutral object. Every time the rat was brought into the room, the researchers made a loud sound that disturbed him. After several times, even when the researchers only brought the rat in without the sound, Little Albert responded with tears. He learned to associate the originally neutral rat with something negative.

The second study involved Ivan Pavlov’s famous study with dogs and dinner bells. Pavlov would ring a bell before serving his dogs dinner. His dogs would salivate when dinner was brought out. Over time, even if it was not dinner time and Pavlov did not bring out food, if he rang the bell, the dog would salivate. They had come to associate a neutral thing with something positive.

Rats, noises, dogs, and dinner. What does this all have to do with likability? Quite a lot! What these studies show us that we respond to memories from our subconscious in conscious ways.

If we utilize the subconscious, we can ensure that people like us without even knowing why!

What are some ways you can improve your likability? Among the different suggestions King makes is to help improve the mood of those around you. Bring up positive memories such as common interests, foods that they like, or even a smell that might be reminiscent of a positive memory. The person’s mood will automatically be lifted. Once the mood is lifted, they will see you in a more positive light. The more time they spend with you while they are feeling positive, the more they will gravitate to you in the future.

Likewise, I have written in the past about former FBI agent Jack Schafter’s book The Like Switch: An Ex-FBI Agent’s Guide to Influencing, Attracting, and Winning People. He explains there is a friendship formula people can use to make friends, assume leadership positions at work, and get the job in a high pressure interview.

The Friendship Formula

Friendship = Proximity + Frequency + Duration + Intensity

Friendship factors:

Proximity is the distance between you and another individual, and your exposure to that individual over time. The more you see the person in a nonthreatening environment, the more likely that person will be to consider you a friend – or in essence – start liking you. It’s an interesting part of human nature, but just being with a person a lot is critical to the development of a relationship. Therefore, if there is someone you would really like to befriend, spending

more time with that person (at shul, at the gym, in the supermarket, or at work) is the first step toward completing the friendship formula.

Frequency is the number of contacts you have with another individual over time. Frequency goes hand in hand with proximity. The less distance and the more frequent that those meetings, chance encounters, or quick conversations are, the stronger the friendship.

Duration is the length of time you spend with another individual over time. If you spend more extended time with the person, your relationship has the opportunity to blossom and grow.

Intensity is how strongly you are able to satisfy another person’s psychological and/or physical needs through the use of verbal or nonverbal behaviors. If you run into the same person every other day at your local market and spend an hour shopping together (proximity, frequency, and duration), but you never have any meaningful conversations, your friendship will not necessarily develop. Intensity is the final element of the friendship formula.

Therefore, you need proximity, frequency, duration, and intensity to make a friendship work. Incidentally, Schafer also points out that you can also extricate yourself from unwanted friendships by slowly decreasing the elements of the friendship formula. This way, it will not feel like an extreme break, but will be a gradual growing apart.

If you can master the science of likability and the friendship formula, there is no reason you shouldn’t be able to be successful in all of your social interactions!

PURIM, PLATED

As much as you prep in advance, you’ll always want to add some last-minute appetizers to your Purim spread. Here are some delicious ideas that you can easily prepare Erev Yom Tov. A Simchas Purim!

RECIPES, STYLING & PHOTOGRAPHY SARAH D. / @STMT.STUDIOS

PASTRAMI

‘HAMANTASCHEN’ CRISPS

These adorable Hamantaschen-shaped hors devours are sure to be a well-received (and filling) addition to your Purim table.

Pastrami:

1 Mini beef Cholent Pastrami in a vacuum bag

¼ cup brown sugar

½ cup yellow mustard

¼ cups bbq sauce

1 tablespoon onion soup mix, optional

Wonton Crisps:

About ½ package Gefen square Wonton wraps, defrosted Oil, for frying

Garlic Aioli:

1 egg

1 cup oil

2-3 cloves garlic

1-2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon mustard

½ teaspoon sugar

½ teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS:

Pastrami:

Preheat oven to 300°.

Remove the pastrami from the plastic wrapping and place it in a pan.

In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, mustard, bbq sauce, and onion soup mix until smooth. Pour the sauce on top of the pastrami. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 4 hours (or at 225° for 6-8 hours).

Remove from the oven and transfer the pastrami to a shallow bowl. Use two forks to shred. Keep warm until serving.

Wonton Crisps:

Slice each wonton wrapper into 4 triangles. Line a baking sheet with paper towels.

In a large disposable pan or frying pan, heat the oil until piping hot. Lower the heat to medium and fry the wonton wrappers for a couple of seconds on each side (if the heat is too high, they will burn too quickly).

Transfer the fried wonton crisps to the lined baking sheet to drain.

Garlic Aioli:

In a container or jar, add in all the ingredients for the garlic aioli.

Sink an immersion blender to the bottom of the container and carefully blend to create a whirlpool effect until the mixture stiffens and turns into a mayonnaise consistency. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Assembly:

Spoon a thin layer of garlic aioli on top of a fried wonton crisp. Generously top with shredded pastrami and garnish with some greens. Repeat with the rest of the wonton crisps and pastrami. Serve.

A Little Sweet, A Little Heat, A Whole Lot Of Flavor

Unapologetically bold in flavor, it’s smooth, fiery, and ready to take every bite up a notch. Drizzle it, dip it, serve it—Gefen’s hot honey is the perfect balance of sweet and heat. Ready to brave it?

BE FIT WITH BENEFIT

QAs a woman on weight loss, I want to drink some wine this Purim. Will this interfere with my weight loss or health as a one day treat?

AWine, like any alcoholic beverage, contains calories—primarily from alcohol and sugar. A standard 5-ounce glass of dry wine has about 120 calories, while sweeter wines can have significantly more. If weight loss is your goal, it's essential to recognize that those liquid calories add up quickly. However, one day of moderate indulgence will not undo weeks or months of dedication.

If you want to partake in the Purim festivities while staying aligned with your goals, consider these strategies:

1. Choose dry wine over sweet wine –Dry red or white wine has less sugar than sweet or dessert wines, making it a better option if you’re watching your calorie intake.

2. Limit your portions – Rather than drinking multiple cups throughout the day, decide in advance how much wine you will have. A single glass or two is reasonable without overloading on calories.

3. Balance with food – Drinking on an empty stomach can cause blood sugar fluctuations and increased appetite. Make sure to eat a

balanced meal with lean protein and fiber to slow the absorption of alcohol and keep you feeling satisfied. For example, have a chicken salad with your wine.

4. Stay hydrated – Alcohol is dehydrating, which can make you feel hungrier and lead to unnecessary snacking. Drink plenty of water between sips of wine to stay hydrated and maintain balance.

5. Watch for triggered cravings –Sometimes, alcohol can lower inhibitions and lead to overeating. If you find that drinking makes you more likely to binge on hamantaschen and nosh mindlessly, consider whether it’s worth it.

Weight loss is about consistency over time, not perfection in every moment. One day of celebration will not erase your hard work, just as one day of healthy eating won’t make you instantly slim. The key is to enjoy Purim in a way that feels good for you— without guilt or extremes.

Wishing you a joyous and meaningful Purim!

Sponsor a Yeshiva Bochur or a Yungerman learning on Purim night!

Seventeen years ago on Purim night a mini-revolution happened. A group of very special םיתב ילעב sponsored bochurim and kollel yungerlite from Yeshiva Torah Temimah to sit and learn two hours םיפוצר on Purim night. The bochurim earned money for their own הקדצ, instead of walking the streets collecting. The bais hamedrash boomed with הרות לוק and this truly was the ultimate in ולביקו ומיק of the הרותה

This was also the last Purim night for

Yisro’s arrival in the desert and conversion to Yiddishkeit was a preparation for Matan Torah. How so? Matan Torah removed the barriers between physicality and spirituality, allowing people to fuse physical items with Getlechkeit. For example, physical Tefillin straps now had intrinsic holiness. Yisro paved the way for this by pushing beyond his limitations. He could have converted from the comfort of his home, but instead, he undertook a long journey to the desert.

4. DID YOU KNOW

Yisro’s birth and death dates are unknown, but we can estimate. As Pharaoh’s advisor at the start of the enslavement in 2332, he was likely born before then, perhaps around 2312 if he was 20 at the time. He was alive for Matan Torah in 2448 and probably lived a few years after, returning to Midyan to convert his family. If he passed away around 2454, he would have been 142— though this remains unclear.

1. LIFE STORY SNIPPET

Yisro originally served as the head of Avoda Zara in Midyan. After studying every form of idolatry, he recognized the truth of the Torah and chose to become a Jew. He was Moshe’s father-in-law and is known for his suggestion to create a judicial system to assist Moshe in the task of implementing justice for the Jewish people.

3. BRINGING IT DOWN

Just as Yisro went beyond his comfort zone to become a Jew, we too can go the extra mile for Hashem. For example, we can recite a Bracha on food loudly and clearly, or bring in Shabbos a few minutes early.

5. FUN FACT

Yisro had many names, including Yeser, Chever, Reu’el, and Keini.

6. QUESTION TO CONSIDER

What is a Mitzvah you already do, that you can do in a more beautiful “extra” way?

Lay a tissue on the paper.

Bunch up the tissue tightly from both sides of the pencil, and slide it off the pencil carefully.

Squeeze the top of the pipette, then put the tip into the water, and slowly let go to draw in the water.

SCIENCE UNCOVERED

Choose two markers to draw lines going across the length of the tissue creating a pattern.

Repeat these steps with the next two tissues, but create different patterns with the markers on each tissue.

Gently release the pipette to drip water over the tissues.

Lay the pencil across the width of the tissue, and roll the pencil so the tissue gets wrapped around the pencil.

Lay out the tubes on the plate.

Watch your colors grow and spread like magic!

Any absorbent material, such as a tissue, expands when it absorbs water. When you drip water onto the tissue, the color spreads and the tissue expands, giving the impression that it is growing.

Cut out everything on this page - ןמה’s 10 kids and their hats. Find the matching hat, paste it on. And.....

Starting with the clown on the next page, you have to find another clown that matches to him.

Clown 1 points to the pink hair, so you need to find the next clown with pink hair. Write the number 1 there too, so that you remember what feature paired them up. Now find a different clown that matches in any way to clown 2. Go on finding matches until you get to the last clown! Did you complete the game with the green-haired clown? That means you got it right!

Enjoy!
