Water Conservation System
10 Weeks, 2 People, Roles on Design management, Strategy, Concept development
Due to a lack of knowledge and concern, individuals aren’t taking the necessary steps to preserve this water resource. In this project, we collaborated with architecture students to rebuild a new church in Pass Christian, MS. As the industrial design students, we focused on developing concepts for water conservation and gray water systems. Moreover, the concepts also can be applied in other area, like Savannah.

Sustainable design is not only about recycling or energy saving, but also a way to twist people’s logic. When water conservation is not a necessary need for life, it must be show its value by a different way.
Research Pass Christian
Current products are not suitable for the need of people in rainy area.
People in these areas are usually not aware of the concept about water conservation. Mostly Designed for Rain limitation area

What you see is what you need ! Based on the research phase, we found that people in Pass Christian and Savannah don’t have much awareness and knowledge about water conservation. In order to improve this situation, we would like to design a clear water system in the community that can make people involve in the system. Moreover, by the clear water circulation system, people can be educated the possibility of water usage and conservation.

Design Objective To increase the green space in built-up centers To educate the concern of water conservation in public area
Redesign Bus Station According to the study from the University of Manchester, a mere 10 percent increase in the amount of green space in built-up centers would reduce urban surface temperatures by as much as four degrees Celsius. Therefore, this design is to rebuild the bus station to be a water conservation center. The more conserved water we have, the more green space we can get. In irrigate the green ground by the water. To complete a water circulation, the rain water can be collected by the leaf shade, go through cooling the heat. People can release the water when they sit on the bench and see how much remains in the tank by the glass window. Also, the bus station provides people an opportunity to get closer with the water conservation system and feel about it.
