The operation was the turning point in WWII and laid the foundation for the Allied victory on the Western Front. Unfortunately, the invasion of the continent was not without significant loss of

What Is WPATH?

To The Editor:

How many are aware of an organization called WPATH? “World Professional Association of Transgender Health”. Michael Shellenberger’s organization, “Environmental Progress”, has leaked their files. How many are aware that Chinese billionaires are funding this organization? WPATH is the organization that has been entrusted with setting standards of transgender medical care. Apparently, it is a radicalized group of surgeons, therapists, pseudo-scientists and activists that has little to do with standards and care. The Hippocratic Oath’s, “At first do no harm”, “informed consent”, and basic parental rights have little to do with their evil Frankenstein-inspired experiments on children and those with mental health issues. It is reported that George Soros has his tentacles in this chaotic movement.

There is a burgeoning number of detransitioners like Luka Hein who are suing doctors who have coerced children into having life-altering medical transition. It is no wonder that there is a dramatic rise in suicidal ideation among those who are gender confused. This movement may succeed in becoming the worst medical experimentation in the history of mankind. From lobotomies, to the Tuskegee experiments on black men conducted by the United States Public Health Service, the Nazi atrocities with Dr. Josef Mengele, to the early eugen -

ics movement in our country with the forced sterilization of the mentally ill, the poor and minorities, to what the medical establishment is doing to our children today is equally despicable.

Please everyone, do your research and speak out about this latest evil being inflicted upon our most vulnerable population. According to an April 2024 article on the ncbi,nim.nih. gov website, “individuals who underwent gender-affirming surgery had a 12.12 fold higher suicide attempt risk than those who did not.” Are we shocked to learn that chopping off healthy breasts and genitalia and replacing them with fake body parts would cause increased mental anguish among our confused and impressionable youth?

“The Queering of the American Child” by Logan Lancing and James Lindsay explains how “the medical establishment has moved into a treatment model in which mental disorders are affirmed rather than challenged and healed, claiming that it is possible children can be born in the wrong body.” To be clear, this book has nothing to do with being gay or lesbian. This book explains the relationship between the trans movement and Marxism. This is another example of how the Marxists, from Marcuse to today’s leftist academic and political leaders are using race and gender to foment chaos and crush the great American experiment.

said that Mao was one of her two most important influences. The cultural conditioning of college campuses was never more evident then during the Covid years when 4, 200 college leaders failed to criticize the lockdowns or attempts to vaccinate the entire population with an improperly tested and dangerous mRNA spike protein, gene therapy “vaccine” that we now know was neither safe nor effective at prevention or transmission. How easy it was to manipulate and indoctrinate our students and families with government control and power. This trans movement has nothing to do with helping our children live healthy and productive lives. The wakeup call is now!

Are you aware that your school library contains pornographic books? There has been a list of books published that are in school libraries (thanks to the American Library Association) that would be defined as pornographic according to NH Legislature. If an adult gave one of these books to a minor outside school, they could be arrested for promoting pornography. Yet, the libraries, unfortunately, are not bound by the NH law.

The Franklin Falls Dam Trails are wonderful for mountain bikers of all skill levels. Their 28 trails are 13 miles of fun, smooth flowy single track through the forest and are free of rocks and mud--it is a place everyone can have a good time.

“War Fronts Home Fires” Program At Wright Museum

On Tuesday, June 11th, the Wright Museum will welcome Joe McQuaid, author of “War Fronts Home Fires: A WWII Correspondents Remarkable Coverage, His Wife’s Indominable Spirit .” This is the second program of the Wright Museum’s 2024 Education Series.

As a World War II newspaper correspondent, B.J. McQuaid covered American and British front lines from the frozen Aleutian Islands of Alaska to the steaming jungles and seas of the South Pacific, at Tarawa and Guadalcanal and then to Europe from D-Day forward in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He interviewed Sir Bernard Law Montgomery during the Battle of the Bulge and went toe-to-toe with U.S. Third Army General George S. Patton. He was separated from his wife and two small children for three years. He interviewed and got the names of frontline soldiers and sailors, providing a link to their families back home in towns and cities across the United States. His stories ran in more than 80 American newspapers through the Chicago Daily News Service. Peg McQuaid, his wife, was keeping the Home Fires burning back in New Hampshire, providing for herself and their two small children. She dealt with food, oil, and gasoline rationing while writing faithfully and regularly to her husband overseas. Theirs is a story of love, of sacrifice, and of hope.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the program begins at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11th at the Wright Museum’s DuQuoin Education Center, 77 Center Street in Wolfeboro. Admission is $5 for members and $10 for non-members. Reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made online at https://wrightmuseum.org/lecture-series or by calling 603-569-1212.

OOL

NEW HAMPSHIRE

trying again

This November I will turn sixty-nine years old and I have been contemplating trying something that I haven’t done in years. Some say I am foolish, while others tell me I should go for it.

Of course, I am talking about once again trying out for the Flatlander Olympics, something I haven’t attempted since 2004 when I was a strapping lad of forty-eight and that nasty scandal kept me out of the event, which I’m sure my opponents for governor will dredge up again this year. But I will get back to that in a bit.

The Flatlander Olympics are not very well known and certainly don’t get as much press as the other Olympics, still, they have been around for almost fifty years now and due to decreasing participation as well as less funding from local area businesses, it is in danger of being cancelled all together.

So, I figured I’d give it another shot before it goes away.

This year’s Flatlander Olympics will be held in a backyard in Ossipee and will include such classic events like Roof Raking which was introduced at the first Flatlander Olympics in 1976 and is still a crowd favorite. This event has two levels of skill. The first is the attaching of the roof rake poles competition where speed and accuracy are of the utmost importance. A simple miscalculation of placement where the snaps are not, at first properly aligned with the holes, can cost athletes tenths of a second but can be the difference between a copper and tin medal. The second phase is the “raking” itself where the participants are judged on speed, accuracy and, of course, form. (The quick pull and flop as well as the drag and dump meth-

ods being the most popular.)

It’s been many years for me since I first practiced for the roof rake competition, but I feel, even though my muscles may not be as strong as they were back then, I can still score big points with my style and patience hoping the younger participant will tire themselves out early.

Another popular Olympics event is the “Dump Run” marathon where rusted old household items are strategically placed about the Olympic grounds by experienced New Hampshire “dump” experts. The athletes then have two hours to find the items and then decide which junk might have value and which pieces are really junk and then deposit their rusted pieces of value in a pick-up truck. Points are awarded for choosing valuable junk and points are deducted for choosing junk that, in the eyes of the judges, has no real “junk” value. (Of course, there is always a lot of controversy about the judges’ decisions. Everyone remembers the famous “broken lamp” piece that cost a Flatlander from New Jersey the competition in 1988 when many felt it should have actually given him the copper medal.)

But back to the issue of the famous scandal of 2004.

Over the years the facts have gotten mixed with fiction and political leanings determine what’s told and what’s not, so I am here to set the record straight.

It was my first Flatlander Olympics held in Tuftonboro. I admit now I was a bit nervous before the events. After all, being the voice of Flatlanders everywhere I was a bit hesitant to risk my credibility by failing. I had a lot to lose.

Of course, as is the case with most everything nowadays, there were many waiting for me to fail so they could step in and take the Flatlander crown. So, I took the responsibility very seriously and trained hard for six months.

All of my free time was used in preparing myself to succeed, to

keep my footing firmly on top of the Flatlander ladder.

It shouldn’t have been a surprise to me when there was a knock on the door of my trailer at the Olympic Training Camp. I became a bit agitated when in walked the head of the FOC (Flatlander Olympic Committee) along with two guards and “Joey” the Olympic Committee bloodhound.

I sensed the worst when they immediately turned Joey loose and he went right over to my gym equipment and pulled out a large brown paper bag, Of course, I had never seen the bag before but no one listened to me. When they opened it and found three potato knishes, a pound of New York Potato Salad and two slices of NY style pizza I knew I was being set up.

As per the FOC rules, consumption of any “Flatlander” food is strictly prohibited within a week of competition. Amidst my objections and claims that I had never seen the items before that moment, I was immediately expelled from the grounds and eliminated from the competition for that year.

I know there are many of you reading this with lots of doubts. After all, it is only human to consider someone guilty simply by being accused even if later found innocent. I can only defend my position by reiterating that even though it is true I have a wellpublicized addiction to Flatlander foods, especially the New York variety, I was totally clean then, as I am now, and once again ready to compete.

I do have my ideas about who was behind that original scandal, but for now I will keep my mouth shut. (Right KM?)

So, I look forward to competing even though I am a bit slower than twenty years ago, but I do have something to prove.

See you at the Olympics.

biDen’s Democracy smokescreen

President Joe Biden makes no speech without mentioning the importance of democracy in our nation.

We would like to believe this comes from deep ideals about human liberty lodged within our president.

But more accurate is that Biden, a politician all his adult life, is defined by just that -- politics. No word, no act emanates from our president that does not emerge from some political calculation.

In the case of the ongoing reminders about the importance of democracy, the subliminal message Biden wishes to convey is to always remind of the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the Capitol and to brand Donald Trump as an anti-democratic autocrat.

But let’s go beyond this and examine Biden’s premise about democracy itself.

In Biden’s latest speech on Memorial Day, he said, “Our democracy is more than just a system of government. It is the very soul of America.”

Hanging on a wall in my offices in Washington, D.C., is a picture of Booker T. Washington, with his quote saying, “A lie doesn’t become truth, wrong doesn’t become right, and evil doesn’t become good just because it is accepted by the majority.”

An important reminder from Booker T. Washington, founder of Tuskegee University, is that there is good and evil in this world, and they are transmitted to us through the Bible and our faith.

Democracy can only be the means through which a nation accepts or does not accept these eternal truths. But Democracy does not invent them.

We should recall, again, the words of President George Washington in his farewell speech in 1796.

“Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. ... Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.”

In the 1850s, Sen. Stephen Douglas of Illinois proposed to use democracy to solve the problem of whether slavery would be permitted in new states entering the union.

The Kansas-Nebraska Act provided that new states would determine by the vote whether it would be a slave state.

Abraham Lincoln rejected this proposition.

the campaign oF Delusion

Here are a few signs of a losing campaign: No. 1: Poll denial. No. 2: Inability to shift course.

No. 3: Celebrity cameos. Welcome to Joe Biden’s 2024 campaign. The Biden campaign is rife with simultaneous panic and poll denial. According to Politico, “A pervasive sense of fear has settled in at the highest levels of the Democratic Party ... anxiety has morphed into palpable trepidation, according to more than a dozen party leaders and operatives.” Meanwhile, according to Axios, “President Biden doesn’t believe his bad poll numbers, and neither do many of his closest advisers.”

Here’s the problem: the polls consistently show Donald Trump ahead in the swing states. According to the RealClearPolitics polling average, Trump is running substantially up in Arizona (+4), Georgia (+4.8), North Carolina (+4.8) and Nevada (+5.4); he’s running ahead slightly in Pennsylvania (+2.3); and he’s running even in Wisconsin and Michigan. He can lose Wisconsin and Michigan and if he wins the rest, he’s president of the United States.

What’s more, Joe Biden’s campaign has shown a remarkable unwillingness to shift course. Biden ran as a moderate in 2020, against the radical socialist Bernie Sanders in the primary and then against the purportedly unhinged Trump in the general election. That neutral image, combined with changes in the voting rules that led to an extraordinary explosion of mail-in turnout (22 million more people voted in 2020 than in 2016, an utterly unnatural increase), led to Biden’s victory. But Biden has pursued a different strategy as president. He is now widely perceived as divisive rather than uniting; his politics have swung sharply to the left; his leadership, which was always weak at best, is now perceived as completely maladroit. What’s even worse, Biden’s personal irascibility has risen to the fore as his presidency has stalled out; he barely leads Trump in the polling data

as to whether he cares “about the needs of people like you.”

That problem for Biden -- the widespread belief that Democrats are disconnected from the voting public -- isn’t unique to Biden. Between 2016 and 2023, Morning Consult polling shows, Americans’ views that Democrats care about “people like me” dropped from 43% to 31%; meanwhile, their view that Republicans care increased from 30% to 39%. A Democratic Party that doesn’t care about people is a Democratic Party in shambles: the Big Government Party has always thrived when it has connected its heavy spending with the image of an open heart.

But Biden can’t shift course. He has apparently decided to double down on the Barack Obama 2012 campaign, which relied on heavy turnout from sympathetic voting blocs rather than an appeal to moderates. That worked for Obama, but it hasn’t worked for literally anyone else: Obama was a unique commodity in politics, not a model for future application. Yet Biden continues to pander to his far-left base, seeking middle ground with pro-Hamas voters in Dearborn and trans activists in Madison and BLM radicals in Philadelphia, in the vain hope that they will spur him to victory.

They won’t. And so the Biden campaign is calling out the big guns: celebrities. This week, the Biden campaign, saddled with an 81-year-old, half-senile candidate, trotted out an 80-year-old, half-senile actor -- Robert De Niro -- to lecture the press outside Trump’s campaign finance trial. It felt like the tired gasps of an asthmatic campaign.

What could Biden do to right the ship? He could start recognizing reality: that if he loses moderates, he loses the election. He could start siding with America’s allies rather than catering to those who undermine them; he could begin speaking the language of individualism rather than intersectionality; he could take action to solidify our southern border rather than whining about the supposed racism of his opponents.

But he won’t. So he’s in real trouble, even if he refuses to acknowledge it.

California now leads the nation in imposing dumb wage laws.

The state just raised the hourly minimum wage for fast food workers to $20.

Gov. Gavin Newsom said, “We saw the inequities. ... we had a responsibility to do more.”

Unions pushed for the higher minimum, and in Democrat-run states, unions usually get what they want.

CNN announced, “Half a million

minimum Wage Folly

California fast food workers will now earn $20 per hour!”

Gullible leftists at the Center for American Progress claim, “A higher minimum wage would boost millions of families out of poverty and further stimulate the economy.”

Yippee! It’s a happy cycle! Winwin.

But wait, if it’s win-win, why just make the minimum $20? Why not $30? Or $100?

Because government requiring higher wages is not a win-win.

Interfering with market prices always creates nasty unintended consequences.

Frederic Bastiat, in his work “That

Which Is Seen, and That Which Is Not Seen,” points out that there are always seen and unseen consequences when government force impacts economic decisions. “Almost always,” he wrote, “the immediate consequence is favorable, the ultimate consequences are fatal.”

In this case, the immediate consequence is that existing workers get a raise. Great. That’s the seen. That’s what the media, unions and Center for American Progress see. But the unseen effect is bigger, and worse:

No. 1: Thousands of Californians have already lost jobs because some restaurants closed. Others lost in-

come because their employer cut worker hours. The chain El Pollo Loco cut employees’ hours by 10%.

Pizza Hut announced that they will lay off more than a thousand delivery drivers. One, Michael Ojeda, understandably asked, “What’s the point of a raise if you don’t have a job?”

No. 2: Workers who still have jobs will lose them because now their employers have more incentive to automate. Chipotle just created a robot that makes burrito bowls. Even CNN acknowledged, “Some restaurants are replacing (fast food workers) with kiosks.”

election Win

This year has turned out be the time of major elections; Mexico, South Africa, Taiwan, European Union, Pakistan, Russia, soon the United Kingdom and in November the U.S. And now India, probably the world’s most populous country, has just finished national elections for Parliament, likely reelecting a conservative nationalist and populist Prime Minister who has delivered progress for the people during the past decade, and will now embark on a third term.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is now highly likely to win a third consecutive term in office, exit polls suggest.

Narendra Modi is variously described as populist and often polarizing figure, but at the same time his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), once largely Hindu nationalist, has broadened its appeal to emerge as the guiding political and especially economic driver of long awaited prosperity for a land still facing the undertow of poverty but with a chance now for upward change. The party has also tread a careful line between the country’s 80 percent Hindu majority and a 14 percent Muslim minority, along with smaller Christian and Sikh

denominations.

India, a land of 1.4 billion people, equally remains the world’s largest democracy. In India everything is big so the national election was not held all on the same day but over a grueling six week marathon in different states and regions starting in mid-April and ending in late May. There are more eligible voters India than the entire populations in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and France combined!

Until the 1980’s India’s economy was saddled with a low growth, democratic socialist model.

The long-ruling Congress Party since independence from Britain in 1947 held to a democratic political model but fell woefully short

for social economic progress for its people. India exported its talented population to Britain, Canada and the U.S. while at the same time, not creating a middle class between super rich and horrifically poor people. Politically Congress held to a policy of International nonalignment, which under certain rulers such as Indira Gandhi, really meant a decided tilt towards Moscow.

This flawed model began to change by the early 1990’s originally under Congress where Long cherished “self reliance “ and the storied “Hindu rate of growth” was supplanted by Economic development and a cut in the

Letters From God

This series of Letters From God is an attempt to put the thoughts of God as revealed in the Scriptures.

QUESTION:

What Are Your Thoughts About The Conviction Of President Trump?

Unlike any of you, I know all of the truthful facts that are the basis of my just judgement against your President’s actions, as well as those of all involved in this conviction. When he and all others involved, stand before me and begin their eternity at my judgement seat, there will be absolute and perfect justice for every thought and intention of the heart that will be revealed.

I spoke of my supernatural ability when I had written in my book, the Bible, “For the word of God is living and active. sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12). I can see it all, and you will see it all and be accountable for all when I reveal the basis of my true judgement against everyone, when you stand before me.

My concern for your question however isn’t the final judgment in this trial but the process? More than that, my concern is the way the process that was used will be used on you in the days ahead. A famous novelist among you, Ernest Hemingway once

penned the words, “never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for you.” The bell refers to a funeral bell, due to the death experienced over a fight for justice. In that fight, many would die. Hemingway’s quote, however, enlightens mere observers to recognize that the fight for justice will mean life or death for even the non-combatants. If justice dies, they will soon be caught in the relentless jaws of injustice and suffer the same fate. It is why he also quotes, “No man is an Island, intire of it selfe; every man is a piece of the Continent, a part of the maine;… any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde…and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.”

Letters From God

I sent my son, Jesus, to die in your place to pay the penalty of your sins, so you could be restored to me and to eternal life. He was and is himself God, who created you and everything in the world you live in (John 1:112). While among you and before he returned to my right hand after his resurrection, proving he was God and your Savior, he spoke these words, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” (Matthew 7:12). In other words, always think of how you would want to be treated and treat others accordingly. If you don’t, when it comes time for you to be judged, and that time will come, when you stand before me

in eternity, you will be treated as you treated others. The bell that tolled for others, will be tolled for you. With this in mind, would you want to be treated with the same process your former President was? Consider:

• A District Attorney, who ran for office with the expressed intent of taking down the former President. He never had authority to bring a case based on federal campaign finance violations.

• A bookkeeping entry that even if proven unlawful, changed from an expired misdemeanor to a felony multiplied 34 times.

• The accused never informed of his alleged felonious conduct (A Constitutional right)

• Jurors given a menu to select one of many alleged violations, so no one knows if their decision was unanimous. A Constitutional right)

• A Judge who should have recused himself due to political and familial conflicts of interest, disregarded established rules of evidence, manipulated standards of admissibility to favor the prosecution, sanctioned prejudicial testimony and blocked testimony of an election law expert witness which would have discredited the accusations, thereby limiting the defense of full and legitimate factual evidence.

A renown lawyer, Alan Dershowitz called the judge a “tyrant” for “outrageous” rulings which he declared “never seen spectacle like this.”

hese are only a few of the many “facts” of injustice in the process of the legal proceedings. They have led even current and past Democratic leaders like Independent candidate RFK Junior, former Democratic Congresswoman, Tulsi Gabbart and former Illinois Democratic Governor Rod Blagojevich to decry the legal process utilized for these convictions. Blagojevich even saying my fellow Democrats are organizing “coordinated prosecutions,” against former President Trump and “destroying the rule of law.” He went so far as to urge Democrats to vote for the Republican candidate on the heels of his guilt verdict. Even Moscow, an avowed adversary to your country said, “If we speak about Trump, the fact that there is simply the elimination, in effect of political rivals by all possible means, legal and Illegal, is obvious” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov Does this sound like equal justice under the law? If someone with this stature and resources of a President could be treated with such injustice, what can, and will you expect. My Son, Jesus, had the same experience and process of legal adjudication (Matthew chapters 26, 27). I permitted it to allow him to die in your place as your Savior. I also used it however, to bring judgment on my people due to their systemic corruption. It would lead to See LETTERS on 26

One of the headlines on the front page of the May 7, 1906 issue of The Manchester Union was “Cocking Main at Concord.” The story began, “For the first time for several years the police scooped a cocking main tonight.”

I searched on line for the meaning of “cocking main” only to be told that the phrase was only to be found in the Merriam-Webster unabridged dictionary and that it was only used 0.01 times for every one million printed words. But I was able to figure out that a “cocking main” was a cock (rooster) fight put on as the main event for human spectators to watch and place bets on. The Concord police were said to have found out by accident that the bird fight was taking place and three officers went by patrol wagon to the building on Water Street and arrested ten well-known young men during that Spring night of 1906. The police offi-

cers found one dead bird and two live ones at the scene of the crime. The ten men were locked up overnight at the Police Station as were the two live roosters.

A smaller headline on the front page directly beneath the cock-fighting article proclaimed that there was gold at Charlestown with the additional note that said, “Valuable Metals Found- Chicken Had a Nugget.” The newspaper informed the readers that assays of rock from a farm four miles from the village of Charlestown had disclosed the presence of gold and silver “in considerable quantities.” Samples of small specimens of rock were found to have a

value of from $4.50 to $12.50. A nugget of gold with a value of $3 was also said to have been found in the crop of a chicken that came from an area near to the farm. Maybe the first “chicken nugget?”

“West Derry Needs Cats,” announced another headline in the Spring newspaper. It seems that the town was being taken over by rats and cats were seen as the proper exterminators. One man caught 19 good-sized rats at one setting of a wire trap. He continued to catch more of the rodents until he had caught and killed fortythree. They were reported to be quite friendly animals who appeared

in the living rooms of the house.

An article with the headline “Four Bad Boys” on page four of the Manchester paper reported that the four culprits with an average age of 11 had stolen a horse and buggy belonging to Mrs. A.F. Cate of Manchester while she was attending church on Franklin Street. The horse and buggy had been parked in front of the library on the same street and was stolen at around the noon hour. The police were notified and a search was begun for the missing vehicle and its power source. After searching all afternoon without success, policeman Moher spotted two boys hiding stuff under a platform on Granite Street. It seems that the boys had also stolen a box that contained tobacco and blacking that they found in a shed at the rear of a store. The police were able to get a confession from the boys that they were involved in the horse theft, as well as implicating the two additional young horse robbers. Their names were printed in the newspaper as being Joseph and Eleazer Boudreau, John Kenny, and Mark Davis. The horse and buggy were found on the West side of the city with the

With the Celtics back in the NBA Finals, countless new and special Boston hoop moments are created to be added to existing memories. This begs the question as to top All-Time top Celtic moments. While I’m too “young” to remember John Havlicek stealing the ball in 1965 I’ve been around long enough to develop a nice “Top Ten” list of personal special Celtic memories—most of which are happy ones. In chronological order: 1968. I struggled as a 12-year-old to hear a WHDH radio broadcast up in Groveton featuring Johnny Most’s description of Boston’s 100-96 Eastern Conference Finals Game 7 victory over the defending champion Philadelphia 76ers. Bill Russell and Company would go on to defeat the L.A. Lakers for their 10th title.

1969. Russell’s last game was a 108-106 NBA Finals Game 7 triumph over the Lakers. I stayed up late to watch the team win its 11th championship in a game played in L.A. 1976. After finishing a 3-11 p.m. shift at the Groveton paper mill, I hurried home to catch the end of Game 5 of the NBA Finals, Phoenix at Boston. I saw plenty of great basketball as the game went

celtic memories list

to three overtimes and didn’t finish until after midnight. Boston 128 Phoenix 126. The contest has been oft referred to as the “Greatest NBA Game Ever.”

1978. I made my first trip to Boston Garden to see the Celtics host the Spurs. A friend and I sat at the scorer’s table next to the C’s bench. No one questioned our presence. It was Havlicek’s last year. He missed a shot in the final moments and San Antonio prevailed.

1984. Another Boston/L.A. Final. Deployed overseas with the Marines, I listened to Chick Hearn’s playby-play of Game 7 on Armed Forces Radio in a bus full of Marines traveling from Tokyo to Mt. Fuji. The Celtics won 111-102 for their 15th NBA title. Wonderful “Big Three” of Bird/Parish/McHale.

1986. Many consider this Boston team to be the greatest NBA team ever. The late Bill Walton was a back-up center! The Celtics won

their 16th NBA Title by beating the Hoston Rockets in six games.

1987. “Bird stole the ball!” The Celtics hosted Detroit in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. My spouse and I watched this battle in the Down Under Tavern in Plymouth. The Pistons led by one and had the ball with five seconds left. Larry Bird intercepted a pass and fed Dennis Johnson for a game winning layup. The place went crazy. When the TV showed

the replay, the place went crazy again. The folks having dinner in the restaurant upstairs must have really wondered what the heck was going on.

2002. Watching a TV in a bar near Chicago’s Wrigley Field I saw the Celtics pull off the greatest 4th quarter comeback in NBA playoff history as Boston came from 21 points down to defeat the Nets 94-90 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Fi-

Some birds have adapted to humans and what we have done to their habitat better than others.

Pigeons, house sparrows and mallards have obviously fared well and thrive in urban environments. Other birds, including many songbirds, have not. Why else would the populations of so many songbirds have decreased so dramatically over the last several decades?

An experience at work the other day got me thinking about how birds adapt to human interference.

I was working in my office when I heard a co-worker calling my name in whispered urgency. I rushed out

A red-shouldered hawk perches on a car in New England last week.

to see what the commotion was about and saw a red-shouldered hawk perched on top of an Infinity SUV right on the other side of the window.

The impressive bird of prey was a mere 12 feet away from the small crowd that had now gathered inside the building -- urgent whispers have a way of drawing a crowd. Everyone broke out their phones and took pictures of the specimen. Red-shouldered hawks nest on the property at work, so seeing the bird was not unusual, but seeing it perched on a car was certainly different.

Someone from the other side of the building opened a door to the outside and the bird left the Infinity

and landed on my car several yards away. I have to admit, it was pretty neat to see a red-shouldered hawk sitting on my car. Still on alert from the door opening, the hawk lingered for only a minute or two before flying off and disappearing into the woods. I was relieved it didn’t leave a parting gift on my roof when it took off.

I’m not sure why a hawk would perch on cars like our friend. It wasn’t hunting or seeking prey as it was facing the building, not the open space of the parking lot. It wasn’t a young inexperienced hawk as it had beautiful, adult plumage. One possible explanation is that it was sunning itself. The parking lot offers a sunny retreat

from the woods and the hawk did spread its wings a few times as if to take it all in.

I also found it interesting that it was a red-shouldered hawk. Red-tailed hawks are the hawk species best known for adapting to humans as they nest on high-rise buildings in places such as New York City. I have noticed over the past several years that red-shouldered hawks have become much more visible and numerous in New England. I think I see more red-shouldered hawks now than red-tailed hawks. Red-shouldered hawks are even more common in the southern U.S. Any trip I take to Florida is bound to include dozens of sightings. They are medium-sized buteos (family of hawks with large bodies and broad wings) with varying degrees of rusty red on their shoulders, chest and belly. They are smaller than red-tailed hawks and larger than broad-winged hawks. Count red-shouldered hawks among the birds that have adapted well to humans. I often see them perched on electrical wires, fences and now even cars. I don’t think they’ll ever rival pigeons or house sparrows for masters of the urban jungle, but I’m glad to see them thriving, nonetheless.

The Simple Feast Simple

What would a year of the Simple Feast be without at least one recipe devoted to Rhubarb? Yes, I know I am a bit late for this year but it just dawned on me that it is the end of May and I have yet to make my annual foray into rhubarb: pie, cobbler, crisp, cookies, sauce, or some such item. Being June (by the time you read this) and Spring’s early start this year, many Rhubarb plants have nearly gone to seed.

I picked my first batch about two weeks ago and I admit that it continues to haunt me each time I open the door to the fridge. But not to worry, my procrastination in processing the stalks will not soured the results! (Pun intended.) However, if you are one of the fortunate ones to still have rhubarb growing, then grab a handful of stalks and check out this recipe for Rhubarb Cookies. Rhubarb Cookies are a delicious combination of tart tangy rhubarb sauce and diced rhubarb mixed into a brown sugar cookie. I will admit to altering the original recipe just a bit, which I will

explain in a moment, but first a note on rhubarb. The pairing of tart and tangy rhubarb with a sweet profile is an age-old tradition, probably dating back to when sugar was a rather costly commodity. To offset the sour taste of rhubarb we often see it coupled with strawberries and similar fruits of the early season that balance the tart with sweet. In the late 1800’s when the price of sugar dropped, rhubarb increased in popularity as a culinary ingredient and today continues to enjoy its status as an early “fruit” of the garden.

According to the website nationaltoday. com January 23 celebrates National Rhubarb Pie Day and, by extension, Rhubarb Day. Now a question I often ask myself (and perhaps you too were wondering about) is why is it that January 23 is declared National Rhubarb Pie Day? Well, there is no clear cut answer to this nagging question. Perhaps January is a slow month for nation-

al daily recognition of different things? But reading the backstory of the National Today website it really would not surprise me if consumption of large quantities of adult libations, darts, and a twelve month calendar were involved in the selection process. However, lest we get sidetracked as to the selection process for rhubarbs day in the limelight, let’s focus our efforts on the delectable victual itself. Rhubarb has a short growing season, typically we see those telltale green shoots begin to sprout from their hibernation about the same time as tulips and daffodils in late April or early May. Then, seemingly overnight, those broad green leaves appear and before you can say “Jack and the beanstalk” you can begin to harvest rhubarb. All it takes is a firm grasp at the base of the stalk and a bit of a twist as you pull up and that unmistakable “POP!” tells you you have begun to gather one of nature’s most

- Approximately 5000 years ago, for medicinal purposes, the Chinese used dried Rhubarb root as a laxative.

- Ben Franklin is credited with introducing Rhubarb to America in 1770 when he sent seeds from Europe to John Bartram, a botanist living here in the colonies.

- Ignoring all compelling scientific botanical evidence to the contrary, in 1947 a New York Customs Court ruled Rhubarb was a fruit. Importers rejoiced at the decision as fruits carried a 37% tariff while vegetables carried a 50% tariff. Their reasoning for the decision? Rhubarb was overwhelmingly used as an ingredient in desserts.

With just a short window to harvest rhubarb I suggest you get as much as you can because once it is gone it is gone until next year. That’s right, rhubarb is a perennial and not only is it recurring, if propagated properly, it will continue to produce

2008. A new Big Three (Pierce/Allen/ Garnett) demolished the Lakers, winning the series in six games. The final contest was a 132-91 route in Boston for the Celtics’ 17th title.

2013. Beth and I traveled to Boston for Game 6 of an Eastern Conference Playoff Series against the N.Y. Knicks, as the Celtics sought to become the first NBA team to overcome a 3-0 playoff deficit. The Knicks led 75-49 with nine minutes left. The daunting 26-point deficit prompted us to leave early. We later turned on the car radio on the way home and heard that the Celtics had cut the lead to 77-73. Had we walked out on the greatest comeback in NBA history? Not quite. The Knicks prevailed 88-80.

So, there’s my personal “Top Ten Celtic Memories.” Any such list is necessarily subjective. Other fans would no doubt cite different memories, but no list would be complete without including the steals by Havlicek (1965) and Bird (1986). Younger fans will have more recent memories, to include some wonderful 2024 imagery provided by the current club, which helped rescue the psyches of New England fans beaten down by a losing Patriot team, a mediocre Red Sox team, and a disappointing Bruins team.

Thanks for the new memories, Jayson Ta-

LACONIA MOTORCYCLE WEEK 2024

18th Peter Makris MeMorial run - Sat. June 8th

The Official Kickoff for Laconia Motorcycle Week -

While the “Official Kickoff to Laconia Motorcycle Week” is ridecentric, the reason we ride is also of prime importance. Peter Makris, the patriarch of the legendary NASWA Resort, the Official Hotel of the rally, was well-loved and is now well-remembered in the 18th Annual ride in his honor, The Peter Makris Memorial Run.

The annual Peter Makris Memorial Run has to date raised over $575,000 for Veterans Count and embraces the aspects of life that meant most to Peter— family, friends, The NASWA, and giving back to his Laconia community. As a proud U.S. military veteran, Peter relished the friendship of his fellow U.S. Marine Corps Leathernecks and

the group has become an integral part of the event, flying their colors to honor his service and memory.

Known and recognized as a leader of the community and as the warmest smiling face at The NASWA Resort that Peter owned with his wife, Hope, he took every opportunity to enjoy the beauty of his home state, and to give back. If not boating or riding with friends, Peter would be found welcoming visitors from his customary seat at the entrance to the NAZBar & Grill. Having built a career as an attorney after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, Peter and Hope raised their family in the hospitality business of The NASWA Resort. He was instrumental in providing the Laconia Fire Department’s water rescue team’s first boat and led the rest of the lake business community to join in. He rode until the age of 82, often with Hope and encouraged his daughter, Cynthia, who now heads the resort, to ride as well. Though he passed 16 years ago, everyone who ever met him remembers his beaming smile and warm handshake.

Thanks to the support of the ride, Easter Seals NH “Veterans Count” Program now has a Lakes Region Chapter, with Cynthia Makris, Peter’s daughter, as Vice Chair. The organization supports all U.S. military—active duty, veterans and their families with important

personal, financial and family services. Veterans Count has proven a valuable resource to area vets and The Peter Makris Run has donated over $225,000 to this venerable organization.

A staunch supporter of the Laconia Fire Department, Makris led the start of the Fire Department’s Life Saving fund and helped purchase the first Fire Rescue boat. That Life Saving Fund, funded by the Peter Makris Memorial Run for the past 17 years, continues to finance the water rescue unit of the Laconia Fire Department since no state tax dollars were appropriated for this important Lake Winnipesaukee service. Over the years, the charity expanded its support to include the area Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Additional donations go to: Building Dreams for Marines, The Belknap House homeless shelter in Laconia and in 2020 provided 60 boxes of solar Christmas lights for our heroes at the NH Veterans Home in Tilton.

“My family remembers what was dear to our father,” says Cynthia Makris, president of the NASWA Resort, “My 96-year old mother, still active in the operations and events at The NASWA, rode with Peter for years and supports his causes. Our family strives to keep his memory alive by giving to those my father supSee MAKRIS on 19

horse showing signs of hard usage, having been driven towards Goffstown and in the Harvey district.

There were other bad boys in Manchester on the same day who threw stones at a passing freight train near the Amoskeag Bridge. They broke a window in the caboose of the train. There had been reports that passenger trains in the same area at about the same time, 6:30 p.m., had also been the objects of the stonethrowing.

And, speaking of horse and buggy, the quick action of Motorman Louis Drew on an electric trolley car on Main Street in Manchester was credited with saving three young women from serious injury. Maggie Shen, Nora Shea, and Annie Healey were riding in a buggy when the horse pulling it was frightened and made a quick turn to the left across the north bound trolley tracks. Motorman Drew saw what was happening and he reversed the power on the electric car, thus avoiding a bad collision. As it was the trolley hit the right hind wheel of

the buggy, tipping it over and throwing the three young women onto the street. They suffered bruises and were taken to a drug store where their wounds were attended to.

For those now interested in what happened in Laconia in 1906 the officers of the New Hampshire National Guard and the members of the Laconia Police Department were planning a shooting match at the rifle range on Gilford Avenue. Revolvers were the weapon chosen for the match with

In their first home baseball game of the season, Ashland Athletic, that town’s residents will be glad to know, defeated Laconia by a score of 9 to 2. The sports reporter for The Manchester Union apparently had no qualms in telling readers that Manchester had to beat nine men and an umpire in its victory over Worcester. Manchester’s manager and one of the players were ejected from the game for arguing with that umpire, but rain ended the game after six innings of play preserving Manchester’s victory. With graduation approaching and

schools having baccalaureate services, some sermons by priests in Catholic churches in the city of Manchester, and probably throughout the State, forbade Catholic high school students from attending baccalaureate services if they were held in Protestant churches. Such services were deemed okay to attend if they were held within the schools, but one of

the strict laws of the Catholic Church forbid Catholics to attend services in a Protestant Church. It was customary for the students to pick the location of their baccalaureate service.

This week’s advice: Enjoy your chicken nuggets wherever you find them, avoid cock fights, and stay safe on your buggy rides.

things about this time of year is that the days are long and there is plenty of time to go for a bike ride after work.

Charlie and I went to Franklin Falls Trails to mountain bike ride the last two Friday afternoons. The trails are fun and the woods are lovely. Mayflowers and Lady Slipper flowers were all over the place. Yes we had so much fun that we had to go back and do it again. We wanted to ride all the trails.

There is an information kiosk at the parking area. These trails are open for multiuse but the mountain bike trails were built

Charlie enjoys the Pine Snake Trail, one of the many easier trails at Franklin Falls Dam. The trail system is managed by the US Army Corp of Engineers and the Central New Hampshire Chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association (NEMBA). The trails are well marked and maintained.

for mountain biking. We didn’t see anyone walking or running on the single track trails. We did see a few people out walking on the gravel roads and walking out to the Dam. The Dam is pretty cool. It is so big, be sure to ride your bike out there for the view.

We also saw people playing disc golf, actually more people playing disc golf. Disc golf looks popular and fun here.

I used my cellphone to take a photo of the kiosk’s trail map so we’d have it if we needed it. We noted that the majority of the trails were rated green circle, easiest. There were a few blue squares and one black diamond. We found another large trail map posted out on the far end of the trail system too.

One time we started out not quite right by cutting across a disc golf course hole, the players just waved

to us. We quickly found the well marked Rouge Trail, and I followed Charlie on this twisty and turny path through sometimes tight trees. We then connected to an easier trail, Whaleback. At one point we were riding over some dark gray smooth ledge that raised out of the ground. I yelled for Charlie to come back and look and see why this trail is called Whaleback. The ledge looks like the back of a Whale and we rode right along the top of the whale.

The trails are well marked and maintained beautifully, they’re really outstanding. The trail system is managed by the US Army Corp of Engineers and the Central New Hampshire NEMBA (New England Mountain Bike Association) Chapter.

The Franklin Falls’s website calls the Mighty Chicken Trail their signature trail.

I agree it should be since it is their most exciting downhill with its big bank turns down a natural steep ravine. A pleasurable thing is that its most difficult turns can be bypassed by taking the Chicken route.

Of course we had to give the black diamond route, Salmon Brook, a try. I did fall off my bike, I did have to walk it down some of the corners. I successfully rode most of it while not getting too beat up. Charlie is strong and talented and he made it look so easy. I don’t think I will do that trail again anytime soon but I did love seeing the cascading waters of Brook at the bottom.

Maybe when my skills improve a little more I will try it again but maybe not.

My favorite route was riding Whaleback to Chicken Ravine and somehow ending up returning on Sniper.

No. 3: Prices go up.

The day Newsom signed the bill, he was asked, “Can Californians expect the prices of their McDonald’s and Starbucks to go up?”

Newsom deceitfully replied, “I’ve heard that rhetoric before. And it didn’t happen!”

Nonsense. It did happen. It always happens when government

forces wage increases. In this case, Starbucks prices have increased as much as 15%. Customers will pay about $200/year more for their coffee. A chicken burrito at Chipotle will cost up to 8% more.

No. 4: Perhaps the worst unseen harm from minimum wage laws is that young and unskilled people won’t even be hired. They won’t gain valuable experience from a first

job at a fast food restaurant.

In 2014, when Seattle politicians raised the minimum wage to $15 -- I asked some teenagers what a higher minimum wage could do for them.

“Minimum wage actually hurts my chances of getting employed,” said one, Rigel Noble-Koza. “If I cost more, why would

a company take a risk on hiring me? They’ll hire the worker with more experience instead.”

Another, Dillon Hodes, talked about his friend who had fast work but got her hours cut because “she was young and inexperienced.”

Of course, these students were unusual. They were finalists in a Stossel in the Classroom contest. They are not economically ignorant. They knew to look for the unseen.

If only politicians were that smart.

Government price fixing like minimum wage laws hurt the young and the poor, the very people these laws are supposed to help.

stifling government bureaucracy and corruption.

Significantly the fall of the Soviet Union, the political polestar and patron of much of progressive leftist India, meant the country needed new political moorings. At the same time there was Bi-partisan consensus in the United States that India, who long played the aloof nonaligned game, stood at an inflection point. Starting with the Clinton and Bush Administrations, until the present day, Washington’s relations with New Delhi have been close and improving.

The once marginalized BJP party soon emerged to confront and defeat the once mighty Congress Party political juggernaut.

Before long BJP was winning elections and by 2014 won the legislative majorities in the 542 seat Parliament, the Lok Saba with Modi as Prime Minister; in 2019 the party won again. A party or coalition needs to win 272 parliamentary seats to form a government.

Currently the BJP led coalition the NDA is expected to win between 355 and 380 seats. The rival Congress is expected to win between 125 and 165 seats.

In the past few decades India’s once sluggish economy has immeasurably expanded and become more export oriented. Today India’s economy is increasingly trade oriented; two way trade with U.S. a decade ago stood at $66 billion. Last year made reached $124 billion but with a $44 billion deficit favoring India.

India now boasts the world’s 5th largest economy, just behind Germany and ahead of Britain.

Strategically too India has assumed new political clout as a viable counter weight to China but NOT a formal military ally as many in Washington presume. The New Delhi government has had long-standing border confrontations with China and equally with Pakistan concerning the disputed Kashmir region. At the same time India as a member of the Quad, an informal strategic group with a focus on the Indo-Pacific region, is happy to be in closer political harmony with the United States, as well as Australia and Japan in thwarting Beijing’s maritime aspirations in the Indian Ocean.

Clearly a third Modi administration offers India an economic vote of confidence and enhanced global standing.

John J. Metzler is a United Nations correspondent covering diplomatic and defense issues. He is the author of Divided Dynamism The Diplomacy of Separated Nations; Germany, Korea, China.

Actually the enterprise oriented economy and an expanding middle class is a strong suit of Modi’s administration; India’s GDP grew an impressive 6 percent last year.

RHUBARB SAUCE & RHUBARB COOKIES

Sauce Yield: About 1 3/4 Cups Sauce Time: About 15 mins Plus Cooling Cookie Yield: About 32 Cookies Cookie Time: About 40 Minutes

INGREDIENTS

RHUBARB SAUCE

3 Cups Rhubarb chopped

½ Cup Sugar

1 ½ Tbsp. Water

½ tsp. Tapioca

RHUBARB COOKIES

½ Cup Unsalted Butter, softened

1 Cup Brown Sugar packed

1 large Egg

1 tsp. Vanilla Extract

1 2/3 Cups Flour

½ tsp. Baking Soda

¼ tsp. Salt

2 tablespoons granulated sugar (optional)

1 Cup Rhubarb (fine dice)

INSTRUCTIONS: SAUCE

- In a small saucepan over medium heat combine the chopped rhubarb, sugar, and water. Using a wooden spoon, stir mixture over medium heat until the rhubarb begins to break down.

- Use the wooden spoon to “mush” (break up the rhubarb). The mixture should resemble wet applesauce.

- Add tapioca and bring up the heat to a hard boil (vigorous bubbles). Stir over a hard boil for one minute and 30 seconds then remove from heat. The sauce should resemble applesauce and the tapioca dissolved.

- Let cool until needed.

INSTRUCTIONS: COOKIES

- Preheat your oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

- Fold in the Rhubarb Sauce but do not over mix. Then fold in the diced rhubarb.

- Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

- Dust with the granulated sugar if desired for added sweetness.

- Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 11-13 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

cookie territory and something that resembles vulcanized rubber on a cookie just ain’t gonna fly! So, for this cookie I made a simple Rhubarb Sauce and added a half cup to the dough. And, I

must confess, I did add the requisite cup of diced rhubarb to the dough as well. The results were a rather tasty cookie. The sauce gave these cookies a soft quality similar to an apple -

sauce cookie (and yes, the rhubarb did soften) while adding both texture and that signature rhubarb tart flavor that appeals to so many taste buds.

As an added bonus the recipe for the rhubarb sauce makes enough for the cookies with about a cup or so left over. These Rhubarb Cookies are a tasty treat tailor made to usher in summer. Paired with your favorite vanilla ice cream and a dab of Rhubarb Sauce, I think this would make the ideal dessert for any Simple Feast.

Enjoy!

FEAST from 15

- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve with ice cream and Rhubarb Sauce. for twenty years or more. So, if you plan on planting a rhubarb crop, I suggest you read up on its cultivation techniques and be prepared to have it around for a while.

Getting back to the Rhubarb Cookies, the original recipe, which my better half copied from the internet (she loves rhubarb), called for a cup of chopped rhubarb tossed into the dough. Now, I

don’t know about you but to me that sounds a lot like chopping up celery and putting it into a cookie. Even though intuitively I know that the rhubarb will soften as it cooks, my mind is saying, “Are you nuts!?!? Why would you put ‘sour celery’ in a cookie?” It reminds me of my mom putting chopped celery into a pineapple lime gelatine mold. There is something fundamentally wrong

with that concept. In fact just the thought of it ruins a good time. But, to create a sauce and add that to a cookie, now that I can live with. And while the thought did occur to me to make a jam cookie (think Thumbprint Cookie) that concept never really took off in this house. For some reason people around here get a bit suspicious when I stray too far from familiar

the ruthless destruction of the spiritual and political leaders as well as the entire nation, by Rome in 70AD. The corrupt process against my Son, revealed a malignant environment that would eventually take the life of the nation of Israel.

books removed from the Moultonborough School Library. The process includes a school committee with school members and one outside citizen to review the book; it then goes through the Supt. and the School Board. May 15 the School Board voted 4 to 1 to keep the book in the school library. Their rationale was not to restrict parents the freedom to allow their child to read the book. A parent must notify the school to not allow their child access to books with sexual abuse, assault & battery, date rape, sexual nudity, profanity, violence and alcohol and drug use, which this book contains, or else a student is free to check out the book with no parental notification. The school should not assume parents even

know these books are in their school library. For some reason, the streaming of this meeting was flawed so you cannot hear the discussion on this topic

I urge parents to get involved and insist these books be removed to protect the students. There is no academic value to these books. Instead, these books have been documented as harming some children. A list of suggested books can be found on: https:// s3.documentcloud. org/documents/21100459/ircm4llist11521.pdf

Co-op Members Have a Clear Ballot Choice

To The Editor:

The past month’s public debate over the NHEC election has clarified the issues, giving 70,000 Coop members a stark choice.

The director candidate slate of Dwyer, Morrill, and Stringham:

• Support the member-petitioned bylaws amendment that guarantees access to information needed to make sound decisions;

•Will ask probing questions and request documents to perform their fiduciary duties of protecting members;

•Have 13 years of NHEC experience in doing so; and

• Will defend members’ finances in setting electric rates.

On the other hand, the NHEC board chair and her allies have aligned themselves MAILBOAT from

against the member petition for access to information and in favor of the well-financed but inexperienced slate of Bolduc, Laufenberg, Norton, and Barbour.

We can expect this slate to follow the Board majority’s lead and

• Never vote against proposed rate increases

•Ask no probing questions and

• Ask for no documentation to assure good decisions. Since they don’t see the need for documents, they oppose the member petition that guarantees directors access to important information, a measure supported by the NH Consumer Advocate and consistent with the state Public Utilities Commission policy and practice. It may be too late to vote by mail and be sure your vote counts, but you can register your support for good governance by voting online by following the directions on the ballot or via the NHEC SmartHub. Support your best interests by voting for Dwyer, Morrill, Stringham, and the bylaws’ amendment that guarantees information access.

Per Lincoln, “Judge Douglas interrupted me to say that the principle of the Nebraska bill was very old, that it originated when God made man and placed good and evil before him, allowing him to choose for himself, being responsible for the choice he should make.”

“The facts of this proposition are not true as stated,” said

Lincoln. “God did not place good and evil before man, telling him to make his choice. On the contrary, he did tell him that there was one tree, of the fruit of which he should not eat, upon pain of certain death.”

What really interests Biden is growing government to advance his left-wing agenda, thereby diminishing individual freedom.

In 1950, shortly after

World War II, federal government spending accounted for 14.1% of GDP.

Per the Congressional Budget Office, in 2024 federal government spending will consume 23.1% of GDP; in 2034, 24.1%; in 2044, 25.7%; and in 2054, 27.3%.

Social Security trustees now project bankruptcy of the system by 2033. Revenues will fall short by 21%. Why doesn’t Biden support

letting every American choose to opt out and instead invest in their own private retirement account?

Why doesn’t Biden support the right of parents to send their child to whatever K-12 school they choose?

The only place where Biden wants more choice is to hide behind his religion and give women the right to destroy their unborn child until the final
