ADMISSION TO GROUNDS As there were no membership fees deducted from prize money in 2014, EVERYONE MUST PAY TO GET INTO THE FAIR. No “One Day Member” passes will be sent out. 4-H Members are eligible for entry when they present their 2015 Membership card to the gate keepers. Concession/vendors, Fair Board Directors and Life Members will be provided with one bracelet that is to be worn on their wrist in order to be admitted on to the grounds. Admission to the fair is $10.00 for 13 years and over, $3.00 for ages 5-12. Weekend passes are $30.00 which includes Friday night, Saturday all day and Saturday night, Sunday all day and Sunday night and Monday. Only appropriate passes will be accepted by gate keepers. PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 165th edition of the Erin Fall Fair. I wonder if the executive of the first fair in Erin could have ever imagined that their endeavour would grow into the five day event, that it has become now. People from all over the province come out in the blazing heat, torrential rain and sometimes even snow squalls to witness our “Preview to the Royal”. Over the years there have been many changes in the fair and the Erin Agricultural Society and maybe one of the largest, in recent memory, is partnering with H.E.A.D.S. to form the Erin Indoor Recreation Centre allowing the installation of turf and heat in the Exhibits Hall for year round recreational use. This has created some challenges in floor covering and layout of the exhibits but will also provide warmth on the cold Thanksgiving evenings. Of course, some things never change like the fantastic livestock shows including cattle, horses, sheep, goats, poultry and rabbits, the wonderful displays in the AG awareness tent and the equine tent, that is now hosted by Budson’s Feed & Farm. Our Truck, Tractor and Garden Tractor pulls are always a crowd pleaser, not to mention the Demo Derby and Fireworks on Sunday. Robertson’s Amusements are showcasing an amazing new ride this year, as well. The entertainment line up is stacked full all week-end with acts like Marie Bottrell’s tribute to Patsy Cline, The Battle of the Bands on the outdoor stage and lots of children’s entertainment inside and out. We have performing Dogs, a chain saw carver and many more performers all weekend long. I would like to thank our many sponsors in the partnership program, without their support the Fair would not be able to survive, let alone continue to grow the way it has. I send my heart felt thanks to all the Directors, Associate directors, Fair staff, the countless Volunteers and all their families that help put on the fair. If it was not for such a dedicated group, there would not be a fall fair in Erin. The President of the first Erin Fall Fair probably wondered if people would come out to a fair, but I know people will come out, and will have a great time. How could they not? With so much going on it would be a shame to miss the biggest event in the Town of Erin. GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. All competitions are open to the Province except where otherwise stated in the Prize List. 2. Each exhibitor shall automatically become an associate member of the Society. 3. The annual associate membership fee shall be $5.00 and a full voting membership is $10.00 for those that wish to become a member but not an exhibitor. 4. Daily admission: 5 - 12 years of age $3.00 per day, 13 years of age and over $10.00 per day. A Fair pass including Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday (four days of the Fair) is $30.00, not including parking. Ambassador of the Fair competition to be held on Friday evening in the exhibits hall beginning at 7:00 pm. 5. All livestock must be the property of the person in whose name they are entered. 6. No exhibitor can win more than two prizes in the same section of any class or as specified in the Prize List. 7. All animals shown in the purebred classes must be registered in their respective herd books and their names and numbers must accompany each entry. 8. Unethical fitting of cattle entered for competition is prohibited. All cattle entered for competition shall be presented in the judging ring in their natural conformation and with no preparation other than natural feeding and fitting, with the exception of any treatment of hair, horn or hooves. Any exhibitor entering animals shall agree to have any animal or animals examined by person or persons appointed by the Society for such purpose, upon request of the Director in charge of said Show. 9. The Judgeâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s decision is final but in the event of any dissatisfaction the exhibitor may have the privilege of asking the Judgeâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s reasons for placing, and should any mistake occur in awarding prizes, which cannot be adjusted in the Judgeâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s book, the Directors shall then decide the matter in dispute. 10. No person shall be allowed to interfere with the judges while in discharge of their duties. Any exhibitor or attendant who is guilty of creating a disturbance, whether by openly criticizing the judge or using obscene language to any judge or officer, shall therefore forfeit the right of any premium and may be suspended by the Society from exhibiting. 11. All donations in money, goods, articles or articles of any kind given to the Society for special prizes shall be considered property of the Society until awarded. 12. While the directors will take precautions under the circumstances to prevent accidents in and around the grounds, and attempt to insure the safety of articles 22

and livestock, any exhibitor or persons going into or upon the grounds or parking lots must personally assume all risk of accident or injury or damage from any cause whatsoever. Exhibitors to carry their own liability insurance for livestock shown. 13. The Society will not hold itself responsible for any printers or other palpable errors in this Prize List. 14. Any infringement of the rules and regulations will be punishable by withholding the prizes and/or expulsion from the Society. 15. All livestock must be on the grounds by 9:00 am on the days of showing and must remain on the grounds until at least 4:30 pm unless otherwise specified. 16. **NEW** All livestock/equine exhibitors must provide proof of insurance with policy number, name of insurance company and expiry date on Entry Forms. 17. The Erin Agricultural Society reserves the right to ask the exhibitor to remove an animal from the grounds due to health or other reasons. 18. In the event of inclement weather the Society reserves the right to cancel any or all sections of the Show, whatever is deemed necessary. 19. All horses to enter Centre Street Entrance or Dundas Street Entrance, depending on the ring being used for their event. 20. LIVESTOCK ENTRIES MUST BE IN THE HANDS OF THE SECRETARY ON OR BEFORE SEPTEMBER 30, 2015. NOTICE: The Secretary will be at the Societyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s office on Wednesday and Thursday from 10 am to 4 pm, Thursday evening from 7-9 pm and Friday from 7-11:00 am, the week prior to opening of the Fair. AMBASSADOR OF THE FAIR’S MESSAGE My name is Jordan Pedersen, and I’ve had the pleasure of being the 2014/2015 Erin Fall Fair Ambassador. As the ambassador I attended as many events at the Fall Fair as possible (including an especially muddy demolition derby), the Erin Santa Claus Parade, the Annual District 7 Meeting, and Convention. However, the highlight of the experience though, is the people I have had the opportunity to meet! Our fairboard and volunteers are supportive and dedicated, and the other ambassadors (including our junior ambassador Megan) are friendly and eager. Over the summer I will be attending other fairs, culminating in the 2015 Canadian National Exhibition Ambassador of the Fairs competition. This year has been a year of tremendous growth for me, which I have no doubt will continue until we appoint another ambassador on the Friday of the Fair. I would recommend this experience to anyone, as it’s a good opportunity to practice your interview skills and public speaking, while being rewarded with friendships, and new experiences. I hope you enjoy the 2015 Erin Fall Fair, and I encourage everyone to try or see something new. The Fair has a lot to offer, and truly is a highlight of the best of Erin. Sincerely,

JUNIOR AMBASSADORâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;S MESSAGE Hi, I am Megan Robart-Morgan, your 2014-2015 Jr. Ambassador. First of all, I would like to thank all of our wonderful volunteers that make our fair possible. As the Jr. Ambassador, I have been able to see behind the scenes and have been able to experience how hard working and wonderful you all truly are. Thank you for making our amazing fair, as amazing as it is. I have had a wonderful time during the past year as I have made so many new friends and met so many new people. I am truly honoured to have this opportunity and I am really going to miss representing Erin at the next fair. I have had many great times throughout this experience, I loved getting to meet all the other Ambassadors in District 7 and getting to know Jordan, our Fair Ambassador, Katie, our runner up Sr. Ambassador and Reachel, our runner up Jr. Ambassador. I hope to come back and be your Fair Ambassador after I have turned 16, as I am only 13 now and will have to wait awhile. It has been and amazing experience that I have truly enjoyed. I would like to thank again all our volunteers especially all the wonderful people on the ambassador committee, as they have made my experience just that much more memorable and one day I would love to join the committee, Thank you!

Ambassador scholarship and leadership program 1. Contestants, male or female: Senior: 17 years of age and over as of August 1, 2015 Junior: 13 to 16 years of age as of August 1, 2015 2. Must be a resident of The Town of Erin and/or reside within 50 km of the Erin fair grounds. 3. Must have resided in Canada for the past two years. 4. Winner of the Senior Competition will represent the Erin Agricultural Society at the August 2016 Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) Ambassador of the Fair Contest. 5. Winner of the Junior Competition cannot run in the senior competition for at least one (1) year after his/her reign. 6. Contestants will be judged on interview, speech, community knowledge and involvement, presentation, deportment, and personality. 7. Winners and Runner-ups of both the Senior and Junior Competitions must be able to attend throughout the duration of the Fair and other scheduled events. 8. Components of the competition include: a. An interview of approximately 10 minutes in length for both Junior and Senior competitors b. A current events quiz consisting of 10 questions c. An impromptu question, which will be provided by the Committee d. Finalists for both Juniors and Seniors will be asked to give a speech about Agricultural practices or issues, rural life and related activities. All contestants should be prepared to give a speech. Senior: approximately three to five minutes Junior: approximately two to four minutes 9. Applications to be submitted by September 26, 2015 to Erin Agricultural Society, P.O. The first place in each of the 6 in hand classes at the qualifying shows are eligible to enter to qualify for the SPORTPONY STARSEARCH CHALLENGE CUP, held at the Royal Winter Fair in November 2015. Both under saddle classes also qualify for each respective class. Leadline class is pending Royal approval. Ponies MUST measure 14.2 hands or under. Passport and registration are not necessary to participate, nor must the pony be a registered sportpony. Adults CAN ride a pony. Riders who have brought more than one horse or horses that have more than one rider and require space between their runs MUST indicate this information at the time of registration. Riders will be called to the chute 3 times, if rider is not at the shoot for their run by the third call they will be eliminated from that class. 18. HOMECRAFT PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

It is hard to believe that another year has passed and we are once again gearing up for the 165th Erin Fall Fair. Early in the year, our Homecraft committees were working diligently to create some new sections in their classes but of course, keeping many of the favourites. Our theme this year is “Tractors and Tailgates” which should be easy to incorporate into our fair as we have no shortage of either of these. You won’t have to look very far to see evidence of our rural roots. The Junior Crafts section should have a record number of entries as every child loves tractors and trucks and there’s lots of opportunity to create your own in this class. This year also celebrates 100 Years of 4-H in Ontario. Be sure to check out our 4-H memorabilia display in the hall and then head out to cattle barn to witness current 4-H members and their project animals in action. (Hopefully, there is not TOO much action!) There are also 4-H club displays throughout the fair showcasing the variety of 4-H projects available.” Eileen has mentioned that we are changing the actual physical location of the 4-H Educational Display so it is not in the Ag Awareness tent. As always, our Homecraft Café will be serving delicious apple dumplings and pies throughout the weekend. A mandatory apple dumpling has become a yearly tradition for many fair goers. If you are new to our fair, you will have to test this for yourself. Many thanks to all our dedicated, hard-working Homecraft members who spend countless hours each year, planning, organizing and creating the wonderful displays in our hall. These same ladies are active members who work at our baking bees, meetings, judging schools and caterings. But it’s not all work as we have built a strong social network where we learn from each other as well as enjoying each other’s company. And there’s always room for new volunteers! So, get ready for the excitement of Erin Fall Fair. Tell your visiting guests to bring their winter coats and mitts just to be prepared. HOMECRAFT DIVISION RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. All competitions open to residents of the Province except where otherwise stated in the Prize List. 2. The Society will not be held responsible for any printers or palpable errors in the Prize List. 3. Any infringement of the rules and regulations will be punished by withholding the entry from the class and/or prizes, expulsion from the Society or all. 4. Each exhibitor becomes an associate-member of the Society. 5. The Society will collect a $4.00 administration fee from exhibitors when entries are received. 4-H Club members, Junior Foods and Crafts, and School Children’s exhibits are exempt from the administration fee except when competing in the adult classes. 6. All produce, horticultural items and manufactured articles must be the property of the person in whose name they are entered. 7. No person shall be permitted to enter more than one article per section in each class. 8. The judge’s decision shall be final. Should any mistake occur in awarding prizes, which cannot be adjusted on the judge’s book, the committee head and/or the Homecraft President shall then decide the matter in dispute. 9. Exhibits entered for the special prizes shall not be allowed to compete for other classes. No extra prizes shall be awarded other than what is printed in the Prize List. 10. Any exhibit not meeting Provincial Judging Standards shall not be awarded Prize money. 11. All name tags will be opened after being judged. 12. Exhibit Hall must be closed to all exhibitors and public until judging is completed. Doors in the Exhibit Hall will be locked from 11 am until 5 pm Friday of the Fair for judging. 13. General rules of Erin Agricultural Society shall prevail in all circumstances. 14. While Directors will take every possible precaution under the circumstanced to secure safety of exhibits, the owners themselves must take the risk of exhibiting, and should any exhibit accidentally be damaged or stolen, the Society will give 94

assistance within their power toward recovery, but will not make any payments thereof. The Society will take every precaution to prevent accidents. 15. GIANT VEGETABLE WEIGH-OFF CLASS 32C

Rules & Regulations: 1. Rules 1, 2 , 4 and 5 of the Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off apply 2. This class is open to the following vegetables that will be judged by weight. giant squash, tomato, field pumpkin, cabbage, watermelon, cantaloupe, carrot, parsnip, table beet (round and red), fodder beet (pink, yellow or orange and elongated), onion, marrow, bushel gourd, pear gourd, kohlrabi, swede/ rutabaga. Entries must no have been judged at a previous event, no re-weighs. 3. To allow all types of vegetables to compete against each on an even basis in one class we have given a base score of 100 points to various weights of each vegetable. Each vegetable will be weighed and given a score based on that weight with the highest SCORE being the winner (not necessarily the heaviest weight). 4. Judging rules for vegetables not covered by the GPC will follow the rules for judging from the European Giant Vegetable Growers Association. www.egvga.eu. Cotton Ball Sheep – use a toilet paper tube and cover it with cotton balls to create a unique sheep friend. 5. Friendship Bracelet or Necklace – make a one-of-a-kind friendship bracelet or a fantastic necklace using beads. 6. Pencil Holder – use any medium to decorate a mason jar or tin can that will hold your pencils. (Pencils may be included) 7. Marble or Ping Pong Ball Painting – use either object or both to create an abstract picture with paper and paint. Hint: use a box with the paper taped inside! Not to exceed 8” x 11”. 8. Smartie Cookie Recipe 1/2 cup white sugar 1 ½ cup smarties 1 cup shortening 1 tsp baking soda 2 eggs 1 tsp salt 2 1/2 cups flour 1 ½ tsp vanilla 1 cup brown sugar Cream shortening, sugars and eggs. Mix well, add vanilla. Mix dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Add 1 cup smarties and use the rest to decorate. Drop by spoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees F for 12- 15 minutes.

CONTEST OBJECTIVES: To help publicize the activities of all Agricultural Societies and fairs in the OAAS. To create real pride in the creation of well-kept grounds and buildings. To encourage more attractive staging of exhibitions and displays. To educate and provide a source of PRIDE in a community’s development. To communicate new ideas to other Fairs. To contribute to a library of images for OAAS promotions.

RULES AND GUIDELINES: 1. Competition is open to each and every Agricultural Society. 2. Each society may submit a CD of images, identifying each image by the category # only. 3. Pictures must be taken in the current year. 4. Photographers from your society must be volunteers or visitors. Images from hired. Photographers cannot be submitted. 5. Absolutely no digital image enhancing allowed. All enhanced photos will be disqualified. 6. Please do not use tape on CD’s. 7. Judging will be done by a committee approved by the chairman. 8. Prize winning images will be shown and awards presented at the 2016 OAAS Convention. 9. Prize money will be mailed to the winners following the convention. 10. CD’s will not be returned. 11. RULES AND REGULATIONS: The contestant must be able to pedal the tractor without assistance. Pedal tractors will be furnished for all participants. All contestants must wear shoes. All contestants will be given two (2) chances to get the sled moving from the starting line. The pulling tractor must stay between the lines of the pulling lane at all times. If the tractor leaves the pulling lane, the distance will be measured from the starting line to the point where the tractor crossed the boundary. In case of a tie, there will be a pull-off to determine the winner. The Judgeâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s decision will be final for all pulls. All contestants must be present at the time of the pedal pull and have a guardian sign the permission slip. The required signature of parent or guardian releases the Erin Agricultural Society from any financial responsibility due to an accident.
