President’s Message

Sometimes success can be a bit overwhelming and thanks to our community of Fair lovers, last year was a remarkable success with record smashing numbers. Certainly some of the credit goes to Mother Nature who opened the Fair with Sunshine and Blue Skies that we enjoyed throughout the weekend. Then Sunday at 4:30 she abruptly closed the Fair with a cloudburst of hailstones. Mother Nature rules !

First, the Agricultural Society would like to thank our sponsors who continue to support our event so generously. Second, we thank our wonderful volunteers, who work from start up to shut down, welcoming Fair goers and making your weekend enjoyable. Then finally, thanks to our farm community, for their year round efforts to bring quality food from field to table and then show up Fair weekend to offer a greater awareness of Agriculture’s role in our lives.

Our organization is so fortunate to have so many energized young builders, many of whom have been Ambassadors, who bring fresh ideas that help keep our Fair current and relevant to changing times and tastes. This year, we encourage you to go to our website over the summer for days and times of entertainment and special events. Find a category that interests you and enter. Win or lose it is fun.

A bit of housekeeping - please note:

• On ground’s parking space can at times be limited and we are working hard to find solutions. Please consider the shuttle bus and check for times and pickup locations.

• Service dogs are welcome but pets cannot be admitted to the site.

• Note new ticket pricing and the addition of a Family Pass.

Come to be entertained and learn more about farming. We hope you enjoy every moment! The 2024 edition of our Fergus Fall Fair promises to be another memorable weekend.

Ambassador’s Message

Mary Brander

2023-2024 Fergus Fall Fair Ambassador

Hello all! I am very excited and honoured to welcome you to the 187th annual Fergus Fall Fair! Our fair is the 10th oldest fair in Ontario and was created to inform farmers about new innovative farming techniques and technologies. Nowadays, the Fergus Fall Fair is an event for the community to come together and have fun, whilst learning about agriculture!

For those who have not met me, I am currently a student at the University of Guelph, taking Animal Science. I grew up on a local dairy farm and am very involved in 4-H. In my free time I enjoy playing hockey and Highland rugby. I aspire to be a large animal veterinarian to assist agricultural producers with the health and wellbeing of their animals.

Over my term so far as ambassador, I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with many amazing people, as well as attending fair board meetings, the District 7 Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (OAAS) meeting, local Santa Claus parades, OAAS Convention, and visiting some local fairs. I have really enjoyed meeting fellow ambassadors and fair volunteers through these events, as well as grown my personal skills of public speaking and networking! I have also been able to spread my love of agriculture and promote local fairs and agricultural societies!

I would like thank all the amazing volunteers, sponsors, Agricultural Society members, and members of the community who are extremely dedicated to ensuring the success of the fair and our ambassador program! Without your hard work and support, our fair would not be the same.

I hope to see you all at the fair whether it be marvelling over the handy work in the hall, tapping your toes to some amazing entertainment, watching the tractor pulls, or visiting me at the dairy show. But better yet, I encourage you to get involved as an exhibitor, volunteer, or even an ambassador!

Thanks again to everyone that made my year so memorable.
