President's Message Welcome on behalf of the Wellington County Plowmen’s Association to this year’s Wellington County Match being held at the farm of Roger and Susan Harrop. This is the 74th year of a local tradition, where we as an association continue to preserve the art of plowing. With the IPM 2016 in the past, we are continuing our goals of a) promoting safe farm practices, b) preserving the tradition of plowing, and c) educating all to the needs of farming and how it effects society. Welcome to our 2017 Queen of the Furrow Kayla Scott and our Wellington County Princess Jade Ritter. We are fortunate to have these two young people in our Association. They come to us with new exciting ideas and they are always willing to take on tasks to improve our Association. Our 2016 Queen Allison Witzel did a superb job representing us at many events throughout the county and of course represented us well at IPM 2016. Many thanks Allison.

Walter Trachsel PRESIDENT

Our goal for 2017 is to recruit new members to our Association. You will see our Association members at farm related events throughout the county, explaining what we represent and why our Association is important to the farming community. Please take time to ask questions and please consider becoming a member. The 2016 IPM was a great success. It only happened that way because of many volunteers, sponsors and our Association members who did an excellent job to make it a success. Special thanks to our Director Ron Faulkner, the 2016 IPM Chair. Thanks to Dave Rogerson for doing a great job as our President for the past 2 years. Thanks to our members, our sponsors and the plowmen who take part in our plowing events, for making Wellington County Plowmen’s Association a great organization.

Good Plowing,

Walter Trachsel

Queen of the Furrow I would like to give everyone a warm welcome to the 2017 Wellington County Plowing Match! This past year has been an exciting one and full of so many amazing opportunities. As I reflect on my year representing our county as 2016-2017 Wellington County Queen of the Furrow, I cannot help but smile as I have met so many kind, dedicated people along the way, making memories that will last a lifetime. Throughout the year I have had the privilege to attend many events representing Wellington County, including the Puslinch and Alma Santa Claus parades, Home and Farm Safety Association Pancake Breakfast, Drayton Farm Show and many more wonderful events across the county. Needless to say the highlights of my year were the Ontario Plowmen’s Association Convention and Banquet held at the International Plowing Match. It was those events where I was able to meet such bright, enthusiastic young ladies from across the province and build friendships that will last a lifetime.

Kayla Scott WELLINGTON COUNTY QUEEN OF THE FURROW 2016-2017

This year would not have been such a success if it were not for the many people that have helped me along the way. To the members of the Wellington County Plowmen’s Association, I would like to thank you so much for everything you have done for me this past year; all of the encouragement, planning and support you have provided was up lifting . It is these people that put so much time and effort into ensuring that our local match is a success year after year. Thank you to Katherine and Cassandra for all of your guidance and advice along the way. Lastly, a huge thank you goes out to all of my friends and family that have supported and encouraged my journey every step of the way this year. It is without a doubt my year would not have been the same and certainly not as successful without you. I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing people and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I look forward to represent Wellington County at the 2017 International Plowing Match in Walton, Huron County this September. Hope to see you there!

Kayla Scott,

WELLINGTON COUNTY QUEEN OF THE FURROW 2016-2017

Princess of the Furrow Welcome to the 2017 Wellington County Plowing Match! It has been a privilege to represent our county as the 2016-2017 Wellington County Princess of the Furrow. I am amazed at how quickly the year has gone by and what an incredible experience I have had. My role as the Wellington County Princess of the Furrow has given me the opportunity to share my love of agriculture and the essential and important role it plays in our lives, especially here in Wellington County. Being in this role has truly allowed me to embrace my love of chickens, beef cattle and all things agriculture related and I have learned how rewarding and meaningful it is to share what you are passionate about with others. Throughout the year I have had the privilege of representing our county and the Wellington County Plowmen’s Association at the Elora, Alma, Fergus, and Puslinch Santa Claus Parades, the Wellington County Farm Safety Association Breakfast, farm shows and a number of other community events. Along the way I have met many members of our community and created wonderful new friendships. I would like to extend a huge thank you to the members of the Wellington County Plowmen’s Association for their endless support, kindness and willingness to listen to the ideas Kayla and I have had for the association this year. I appreciate all the time and effort you have put into making this year’s plowing match a success and your dedication to preserve such a wonderful tradition. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to spend this year working alongside this group and Queen of the Furrow, Kayla Scott, who has been a wonderful role model and friend. I know I will always look back fondly on all the memories we have made this year! I would also like to give a special thanks to Katherine and all of the work she has put in as the coordinator of the Queen and Princess of the Furrow programs. Furthermore, I would also like to thank Krista, Cassandra, Pam, and Katherine for all of their advice and guidance in preparation for the IPM. Finally, I would like to give a huge thank you to my family for their love and support. They have been so inspirational and without their influence I would not be where I am today! I look forward to seeing everyone at this year’s plowing match and representing Wellington County at the first ever Ontario Princess of the Furrow Competition at the 2017 International Plowing Match! Happy plowing!
