Good Luck Carman! The Wellington County Plowmen’s Association is extremely proud of Carman Weppler who is gearing up to compete at the World Plowing Championships in Denmark in summer 2015. Carman Weppler placed first the Senior Conventional Plow class at the CanPlow 2014 competition. Only the first place finishers at the CanPlow level move on to the worlds, where Carman will represent Canada alongside the best of the best plowmen from around the world. Carman is a past president of the Wellington County Plowmen’s Association, and is always willing to be the plow coach for the Queen of the Furrow at the local match, along with at the International Plowing Match. Good luck to Carman and his family on their journey to Denmark for Worlds!

On behalf of the Wellington County Plowmen’s Association, I invite and welcome you to our Wellington County Plowing Match on Thursday August 20th 2015 located on the property of Gordon & Anne South. Our Association and volunteers work hard planning and organizing to bring to you the local match with many skilled competitors. You will have the chance to view plowing techniques that were used in the past and more modern forms as well. During the local match, we will also be hosting the plowing portion of the Queen of the Furrow competition. It should be an exciting day! I would like to thank everyone in the Association who will help with setting up, and with meal preparation thank you. Thank you to all the participating plowmen as well, it’s because of you that this day will be a success!
DAVE ROGERSON PRESIDENT
I am also very thrilled to announce the return of the International Plowing Match to Wellington County. The Wellington County Plowmen’s Association was successful with their bid to host the 2016 IPM. The organizing committee is working hard in preparation for this huge event. Again, a successful match relies on you, the volunteers and sponsors. You can follow the event on Facebook.com/ipm2016 or on Twitter@ipm2016, or on the website www.plowingmatch.org. The Wellington County Plowmen are also very proud to announce our World Class competitor, Carman Weppler, will be representing Canada in Denmark this October. Carman will be competing in the Senior Conventional Plowing competition. We are so proud of you Carman, and good luck! You can follow this event on the website http:// worldploughing.org/ I would like at this time to extend my sincere appreciation and gratitude to all the sponsors that have continually supported the Plowmen’s Association. Your support allows us to create a first class directory that is not only successful, but admired by others. Many volunteer hours go into the organizing of the directory and the match. Thank you to all that are involved, with your support and teamwork our Association can continue to host fantastic matches. To Cassandra Chornoboy, our Wellington County Queen of the Furrow, thank you for all your hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm through the year. In Memory Les Darrington
Those whom we love go out of sight, But never out of mind, Still cherished in the lonely hearts Of those they leave behind.
The Wellington County Plowmen’s Association will always remember Les Darrington and will continue to keep him in our hearts. Les was such a leader for the Association and was always supportive to all plowmen and queens of the furrow. He is deeply missed and will continue to be an inspiration for all of us. Les may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. Sincerely, The Wellington County Plowmen’s Association members past and present.

My year thus far as the reigning Wellington County Queen of the Furrow has been one that I will cherish forever! I have been given opportunities to work alongside some amazing people, and have learned some very valuable life lessons in return. While being an ambassador for agriculture, and promoting the farming lifestyle at various events throughout Wellington and neighbouring counties has made me fully appreciate my grassroots background. I am proud to have always lived on a beef and sheep farm along with my sisters and mother. Agriculture has always been a part of my life and being able to share my thoughts and experiences with those in urban areas has been a very unique experience.
CASSANDRA CHORNOBOY WELLINGTON COUNTY QUEEN OF THE FURROW 2014-2015
I have had the privilege of being crowned the Wellington County Queen of the Furrow for a third time this year, and I will be sad when this huge chapter in my life is complete. I have represented Wellington County at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, Alma Santa Claus Parade, Mount Forest Santa Claus Parade, Fergus Santa Claus Parade, Palmerston Santa Claus Parade, Wellington County Farm Safety Pancake Breakfast in Alma, Wellington County 4-H Awards Banquet, as well as many more events. I also attended the Ontario Plowmen’s Association Convention, which was held in Cornwall, Ontario. There, I met a multitude of fellow Queens from across the province. I have made some fantastic friends and I look forward to seeing them in Finch at the International Plowing Match. I have faith in the united counties of Stormont, Glengarry, and Dundas Plowing Associations to host a fabulous match. I am ecstatic to participate in this event and look forward to competing for the Ontario Queen of the Furrow title. This opportunity has exposed me to many community events, which I have enjoyed immensely. I would like to thank all those in the Wellington County Plowmen’s Association for all the encouragement they have given me throughout the year. The members of the Plowmen’s Association are some of the finest people I know. They have all done so much work for the Wellington County Match and for the upcoming IPM 2016, which will be hosted by Wellington. I would also like to thank my family and those closest to me for being at all events and cheering me on. I am fortunate to have such a great support system at home. I encourage everyone to come out to the Wellington County Plowing Match and experience the basis of agriculture at the local level! I guarantee you will not regret your choice! See you at the match!
