1800 KM ON A FIXED HUB

After their Budapest – Istanbul trip in 2013 the Hardbrakers from Hamburg tasted blood and a selection of 7 riders agreed within one of their monthly meetings to head towards northern Africa this time. This now slightly smaller group allowed a more comfortable, organised and beside everything else more focused trip that everyone could enjoy. The group was attended by filming guy Philipp Lee Heidrich such as the photographer Carlos Fernandez Laser who rode a support vehicle not only to cover the journey but also for carrying all the stuff to keep the rider’s back away from any burden. With daily distances roughly between 100 and 200 kilometers the Hardbrakers crossed not only the Atlas mountains and dry desserts but also managed some lawless traffic in known Marrocaen cities like Tangier, Casablanca or Marrakesh. They survived the alleys and its dogs, rock throwing kids on the roadside such as some too fast taken corners and hence resulting accidents. But above everything it was again the resident population that left the most intense impression – their waving hands and cheering voices, their hospitality and helpfulness in various situations was just overwhelming. This lookbook provides a beautiful photographic insight into this trip shot by CarlosFernandez Laser - and probably fuels the appetite for the upcoming full movie. Huge thanks to all involved people such as our supporters, above all Bombtrack Bicycle Co. for pushing, motivating and letting Karl and Ardi ride their bikes. Don’t miss the actual release of this video documentary and follow www.hardbrakers.com on all channels - enjoy the shots.

»  Fixed through the desert — luckily I got my bucket hat! The heat was killing and the camels seemed not only to walk but also to talk with me!  « AR DI

This has led to some sketchy situations, because the roads were really narrow and bumpy plus the drivers were hauling ass!
