Lake Chelan Crush continues through Oct. 13 with many local wineries offering handson harvest experiences that engage all five of the senses. See the harvest and the first steps of winemaking, taste expertly-prepared local foods paired with just the right wine, feel wine grapes break down under your feet, listen to great music and smell freshly harvested fruit, fall air and the aroma of great cuisine. Check out this week’s “What Should We Do Today?” and the Lake Chelan Wine Valley website for more information. The pumpkin patch at Chelan Valley Farms, located at 2391 Green Ave. in Manson, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every weekend day in October. Hay rides, pumpkin picking, doughnuts and more are all a part of this fall experience. They also have classes organized from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Oct. 12, 19 and 26 on the topics of creating a fall bouquet, designing your fall pumpkin centerpiece and pumpkin carving and decorating. Contact njallison@frontier.com to reserve your spot. The Chelan Chase will occur at 10 a.m. Oct. 19. The 5K Run/Walk is a benefit for a mammogram program for uninsured or underinsured women in need at Lake Chelan Community Hospital and for the Wellness Place, an outreach program of Confluence Health that benefits cancer patients. The race is open to people of all ages and levels of physical fitness. Online registration is available at the Lake Chelan Rotary website. The Chelan District No. 7 Firefighters Association will present its “Firelight Gala” Dinner and Auction from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Oct. 19 at Tsillan Cellars and Sorrento’s Ristorante. The gala includes a plated dinner with wine, silent and live auctions, and dancing with music provided by Waterdog. The Firefighters Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and all proceeds will be used to support the association’s projects, regional charities and acts of kindness. Tickets are available at brownpapertickets.com and at
the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce. The Pink Ribbon Classic Golf Scramble will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 20 at the Lake Chelan Golf Course. The cost to enter the tournament is $30 which includes lunch after play (The entry fee does not include green fees). The two-person team format will offer Scramble Play, Closest to the Pin and Long Drive Awards, Mulligans, and the opportunity to have Mark Lawrence the PGA Assistant Professional hit your team drive on Hole No. 10. There will be raffles and an auction during lunch. Like the Chelan Chase, the Scramble benefits the Lake Chelan Community Hospital mammogram program and the Wellness Place. It will be bittersweet this year as a key organizer, Gail Bender, passed away from cancer since last year’s Scramble. Golfers of all abilities are welcome and encouraged to play in this fun tournament. Handicaps and partners can be provided. The 5th Annual Lake Chelan Girlies Getaway will be held Oct. 25 to 27. A Halloween Carnival hosted by Chelan Friends of the Public Library will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Chelan Library. This is an annual fundraising event which includes treats, a cake walk, games and prizes. All proceeds support the Chelan Public Library. Also watch out for the Giant Book Sale on Oct. 12.
