Alice Harris Coldwell Banker Lake Chelan Properties 509-670-6416

I was born in Wenatchee Washington - I grew up in Manson Washington. I was the eighth of nine children with two older sisters and six brothers to challenge me daily. I went to Manson Schools K-12: a very secure, small environment.

What do you enjoy doing while you are not working? Not working?? My passion is my children. I love spending time with my “very large” family and close friends. Most of my time is consumed being a mom, going to my children’s sporting/school events, traveling to college sporting events and of course lots of laundry. I love to travel, cook, meet new people and illustrate to my children: Life is about following your dreams, making an impression and being passionate about what you do.

What got you into Real Estate and what keeps you there? I pretty much fell into real estate. I was a “stay at home mom” for eleven years, when we upgraded from our 1,100 sqft home in Chelan and bought a larger home in Chelan, I was offered a job during our home buying/selling process. I have been in the real estate industry since. I love people; real estate allows me to meet new and very interesting personalities. I love the challenge; each day is different and brings something new I want to learn. Most of all, I love the business environment, the flexibility and the people I get to work with.

Tell us about your family? (kids? dog? cat? parakeet?) I am married to a fantastic man and we have four beautiful children—three daughters and one son. Time flies; we are almost empty nesters with three of our children in college and only a freshman daughter, an elderly golden retriever and two cats at home. I am extremely proud of our children and their aspiration to reach for the stars and follow their dreams. We have been truly blessed with great kids. After guiding them through their childhood and all the trials and tribulations, I find myself learning from them.

Election Season We are now in the throes of election season and it got us thinking; the function of voting is quite an honor and responsibility. Not only can one vote decide an election, but it can represent how you want to see your community shaped, how you prefer your health care delivered, how our roads are managed, how our schools are run and how our community is developed to name a few. As Realtors, we support candidates with a vision to shape our community and continue to make our valley a wonderful place to live. We believe that candidates who are focused on promoting and preserving homeowner’s rights deserve our vote. Regardless how you vote, it’s an exciting prospect to be a part of history as you cast your vote. A recent press release from the Secretary of State’s Office quoted, “As of latest count, there are 3,636,402 Washington residents registered to vote. Statistics compiled by a George Mason University professor for the United States Elections Project show that Washington’s voting-eligible population in 2010 was 4,728,332.” Essentially, almost 80% of all Washington residents eligible to vote are registered. However, on the flip side, approximately 20% of people eligible to vote in Washington are not registered. We hope that as you read this you are one of the 80% and that you are as excited to cast your vote as we are. But, if you’re not registered please visit the link below and join us in shaping history.

What would you tell someone from outside the area about the value of living in Chelan? Having been raised in the Lake Chelan Valley, I have a passion for the area. I love the wonderful small town community atmosphere and feel very lucky to have the excellent quality of schools and community support for my children. Waking up in the morning and appreciating the beauty we gaze at every day is a quality of life that would be hard to give up. In today’s world of mobile offices, it is very comprehensible that Lake Chelan is an attractive choice for many professionals and their families.

Which electronic devices do you use on a daily basis? “Hello my name is Alice and I am addicted to my iPhone!“ In the real estate business you have to be able to communicate with every customer/client whether it is by US mail or twitter. I use my iPhone, iPad, laptop and desktop computer daily. I use social networking, blogs, Apps and QR codes to boost our business marketing and Internet presence. I believe being progressive and staying with the movement is a must in the real estate industry. We need to be able to communicate with the very tech-savvy and the tech-challenged on every level.

What is the most challenging/gratifying aspect of being in Real Estate? I find the most challenging part of the real estate business is the “highs and lows” that can occur three or four times in one day. There is no black or white to our industry, we deal with a lot of gray areas. You discover what is fundamental to you may not be vital to someone else. Personalities are heightened in many transactions; the most difficult part when I first started in the business was to not take every transaction personally. In the end the most gratifying aspect of the real estate business is the relationships we make and watching a first time home buyer’s face when you hand them their keys on closing…. a reminder of the emotion when I was first handed my keys to our first home.

What is your favorite beverage? That is very easy… Wine! A beverage so complex and versatile… I love the whole ambiance of drinking a glass of wine; with friends, intimately or just a glass of wine after work to relax or enjoy while cooking dinner. I love the explosion of amazing wineries in the Lake Chelan Valley! It is a perfect showcase for our gorgeous area.

What tip would you give someone looking to buy or sell a home? I truly believe you have to find a company and sales associate that you are comfortable with, understands your specific needs, and will work hard to ensure that those needs are not only met, but exceeded. A company who is very educated on their market and will educate you as well. Personally, I reject the traditional “hard-sell” approach typical of many real estate companies. My goal is to discover our client’s needs and offer innovative ways by which to solve them. We have the best tools and brokers in the industry to do so. Few things can make a bigger difference to your success in buying or selling a home than to work with a company that enjoys a nationwide reputation for service and integrity. Coldwell Banker Lake Chelan Properties is one of the most respected names in real estate, with a legacy of success.
