Each year we have a sunset cross country flight, where we open our parachutes at 10,000 feet, have a long parachute flight, and drop flowers over the lake in remembrance of our loved ones.” The event is put together by the entire Skydive Chelan team, including owners Kadrevis and Todd Higley and is one of their biggest events of the year. The team is offering larger aircraft to jump from, helicopter jumps, food, and live music Saturday night. “During the day there will be hundreds of licensed skydivers

While in the air, you’ll see the scenic Columbia River, plus miles and miles of vineyards, mountains, and more. If you’ve never skydived before, this weekend at Skyfest is the perfect place to check it off your bucket list. The co-owner said that this event is the perfect opportunity to sign up for a jump, and is a fun environment to be around. HYDROFEST HYDROPLANES AND RACING BOATS TO TAKE THE WATERS THIS WEEKEND
On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Sept. 29-Oct. 1, limited hydroplanes and racing boats will take the waters in Manson Bay in what has become a must-attend annual event for racing fans. The races begin on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with 20 total races. Racing has been going on in the Chelan Valley for about 30 years, and this is the fourth year the Hydrofest has taken place off the shores of Manson. Several hydroplanes will be on display on the main street in downtown Manson on Friday, Sept. 29 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This is a great chance for spectators to get an early, up-close view of the water crafts and ask questions of the owners and drivers. This family-friendly event will feature many boats to view on
the water including outboard performance crafts, J classes, vintage hydroplanes, and grand prix alcohol boats. The races will take place on a five-lap, one-mile course. Pit passes are available for purchase for $10, which includes access down in the pit where guests will have the opportunity to see the boats up-close. This special access is only for racing fans who are at least 16 years old and are wearing close-toed shoes. T-shirts will be available for $20. Otherwise this event is free for anyone who wants to come see the boat races. For more information about this event and to watch a short video of 2015’s hydrofest, go to moretomanson.com/events/mansonhydro-fest.

THE GIRL WHO TAKES AN EYE FOR AN EYE DAVID LAGERCRANTZ
BORN TO RUN BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN Over the past seven years, Bruce Springsteen has privately devoted himself to writing the story of his life. The result is “an utterly unique, endlessly exhilarating, last-chancepower-drive of a memoir” (Rolling Stone) that offers the same honesty, humor, and originality found in his songs.

Lisbeth Salander, the girl with the dragon tattoo, the brilliant hacker, the obstinate outsider, the volatile seeker of justice for herself and others--even she has never been able to uncover the most telling facts of her traumatic childhood, the secrets that might finally, fully explain her to herself. Now, when she sees a chance to uncover them once and for all, she enlists the help of Mikael Blomkvist, the editor of the muckraking, investigative journal Millennium. And she will let nothing stop her.

BOO
GLASS HOUSES - LOUISE PENNY
BEING MORTAL - ATUL GAWANDE
When a mysterious figure appears in Three Pines one cold November day, Armand Gamache and the rest of the villagers are at first curious. Then wary. Through rain and sleet, the figure stands unmoving, staring ahead. From the moment its shadow falls over the village, Gamache, now Chief Superintendent of the Surete du Quebec, suspects the creature has deep roots and a dark purpose. Yet he does nothing. What can he do? Only watch and wait. And hope his mounting fears are not realized. But when the figure vanishes overnight and a body is discovered, it falls to Gamache to discover if a debt has been paid or levied. Months later, on a steamy July day as the trial for the accused begins in Montreal, Chief Superintendent Gamache continues to struggle with actions he set in motion that bitter November, from which there is no going back. More than the accused is on trial. Gamache’s own conscience is standing in judgment. In her latest utterly gripping book, number-one New York Times bestselling author Louise Penny shatters the conventions of the crime novel to explore what Gandhi called the court of conscience. A court that supersedes all others.
Medicine has transformed the dangers of birth, injury, and infectious disease from harrowing to manageable. But when it comes to the inescapable realities of aging and death, what medicine can do often runs counter to what it should. Through eye-opening research and gripping stories of his own patients and family, Gawande reveals the suffering produced by medicine’s neglect of the wishes people might have beyond mere survival. To find out what those wishes are, we need to ask. We haven’t been asking, but we can learn. [This] book shows how the ultimate goal is not a good death but a good life...all the way to the very end.
THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR - SHARI LAPENA Anne and Marco Conti seem to have it all: a loving relationship, a wonderful home, and their beautiful baby Cora. But one night when they are at a dinner party next door, a terrible crime is committed. Suspicion immediately focuses on the parents--but the truth is a much more complicated story. Inside the curtained house, an unsettling account of what actually happened unfolds. Detective Rasbach knows that the panicked couple is hiding something. Both Anne and Marco soon discover that the other is keeping secrets, secrets they’ve kept for years.
