This exhibition explores the dynamics of artistic collaborations behind the Iron Curtain during the Cold War period. Starting with an East German brigade painting exemplifying the socialist utopia, it showcases diverse artist groups, collectives, and venues that developed alternative or countercultural artistic paths. Among the highlights are eight original Soviet poster designs from the era of glasnost and perestroika, ironically addressing the gap between ideology and practice under socialism; artworks and posters from the East German collectives Clara Mosch and the Autoperforationsartisten; and a series of experimental prints from the East German portfolios A DREI and Jazz & Improvisation.
