Help Maintain our Beautiful Grade II* Wendover Parish Church - Join Friends of St Mary’s

The Parish Church of St Mary The Virgin is probably the oldest building in Wendover. In addition to its dedicated purpose for worship it Is available for use by secular local groups for meetings. As with any ancient building its repair and maintenance are costly, and the responsibility for this, contrary possibly to expectation, lies with the Parish rather than the Diocese.

The Friends is not a religious group. Members are people from all walks of life who wish to see the fabric of our lovely landmark Parish Church maintained for the appreciation of future generations. Since its inception in 1994 funds from the Friends have contributed to a number of repairs, including that of the Chancel roof, restoration of the tower spire, guttering, downpipes, stonework repair, etc. (and work on the Nave roof will soon be needed).

Apart from the AGM there are no general meetings or obligations but most Friends give an annual donation which in turn is given to the PCC into a designated fund for the maintenance of the church fabric.

If you are interested in keeping St Marys intact for those to come we would welcome you as a member. Please contact Christopher Pallet, Secretary 8 High Street Wendover HP22 6EA; 01296 625008; cjpallet@aol.com.
