Could you be a Boost Family Mentor?
•Do you have 3 hours a week to give to a family for a 4-6-month period? •Do you have experience with children? This could be through work or volunteering, having younger siblings or raising your own children. •Are you an empathetic, non-judgmental and friendly person, who can offer guidance in a non-patronizing and respectful way? •Are you resilient to setbacks, and open to trying new ideas? Can you share that mindset with parents who need help to build their self-esteem?
If you can answer ‘yes’ to these questions, then Connection Support would love to hear from you.
Typical areas in which parents need support to achieve their goals are: •Developing family routines, e.g., bedtime, morning, mealtimes. •Setting boundaries around behaviour and effectively maintaining those boundaries. •Developing a support network, contacting local baby/toddler groups or joining parenting classes. •Developing the parents' own self esteem.
Boost Family Mentors help families to achieve the parenting goals they have identified through an initial assessment with a Family and Volunteer Supervisor. Usually this would take place in person. However, in response to Covid-19, Connection Support are currently delivering all support over WhatsApp video calling.
Register now to volunteer as a Boost Family Mentor on volunteers@connectionsupport. org.uk or 07999 118080.
Thank You
I would like to thank all the parents, grandparents, carers and children who have attended Jellybabies & Jellybeans music, action songs & percussion classes and those preschool children who joined in my sessions at Little Acorns Kindergarten over the last nearly 30 years. I have loved every minute but, largely due to the pandemic, I have decided that it’s time for me to retire. Thank you for the wonderful memories! Penny Lowe (The Music Lady).
Shop at The Lee’s Christmas Market
The market in The Lee Parish Hall has become an annual fixture in our calendar. This year the Christmas Food and Gift Market is taking place on Saturday 13 November, 8.30am to 1pm.
The tables will be laden as usual with all your favourites. Charity Christmas cards, pretty napkins and crackers. Everything you need for wrapping your presents including an eco selection of wrapping paper and ribbon. A bigger selection of the pop-and-slot festive scenes and advent calendars, which have become very popular over the last few years and the festive fireside matches and bridge playing cards, so lovely as presents. Chris Field’s beautiful decorations, plants and flowers will also be there.
Food items will include all your favourites – stollen, panettone, Christmas cakes, mince pies and puddings, chocolates, Turkish delight, liqueur bottled fruit, shortbread, crispbreads, chutneys, snacks, nougat, gingerbread houses and biscuits, children’s chocolates and coins, baklava and so much, much more. We also haven’t forgotten the Christmas ales and spirits. We are still buying, so there will be a lot more.
We are very lucky that we can sell many items at a lower price than the larger shops, so please buy first at our Christmas Market. Shop at The Lee, Lee Clump Road, Lee Common, Great Missenden, Bucks HP16 9NB
