Scenes of the day at Wendover Youth Festival

Wendover Youth Festival 2021

On the first of September, Wendover Youth Centre held its annual Youth Festival at Ashbrook Park, marking the end of the summer holidays and the beginning of a new chapter. After the festival was sadly cancelled last year due to the pandemic, it was fantastic to coincide this year’s festival with the celebration of the relaxation of the pandemic restrictions.

Despite a slightly worrying start to the day, the weather held up and the young people of Wendover were able to participate in a whole host of activities outdoors! As always, the inflatables were a huge hit (by ES promotions) alongside the sporting activities hosted by Premier Chilterns. The attendees also participated in brilliant mental health activities (Youth Space), arts and crafts (Crafty Sue) and environmental-action activities (CLAW). A highlight for many was the delicious

Pizza from Pizzaficio Plus and the refreshments and cake stand!

Overall, over 150 young people between the ages of nine and eighteen attended the festival. It was great to see so many young people enjoying themselves and spending time with their friends after what has been an incredibly challenging year for everybody. We would like to thank all the organisations, volunteers, young people, and parents for making the Youth Festival a fun and fantastic afternoon for all! We have already started planning for next year’s event. We can’t wait to host an even bigger and better day for the young community of Wendover!

In the meantime, see our website or social media to find out details about our weekly sessions. Also, don’t forget our friends and supporters’ event is on Monday 4 October. Please get in touch with Chris Heald for more information regarding this event: healdchris13@gmail.com.

Wendover Foodbank Donation Week

Monday 4 - Sunday 10 October 2021

In the last year and a half Wendover Youth Centre, Churches Together in Wendover, and Wendover Parish Council came together with Wendover Foodbank to organise three food bank donation weeks during the Covid-19 Pandemic lockdown. The whole community has so far donated over 1500kg towards the food bank and due to the continued demand in the area we have decided to run another food bank donation week.

Wendover Foodbank is part of the Chiltern Foodbank network, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. No one in our community should have to face going hungry. If you know an individual or family in need of the food bank, please contact John Shaw on 07899 964037. The Wendover Foodbank serves Wendover and the surrounding areas including, Halton, Weston Turville, Aston Clinton & Stoke Mandeville.

During this week we encourage Wendover and the surrounding community to donate food to the food bank. Any donation is extremely appreciated and will go towards creating a food box for an individual or family who needs it. For information regarding what items are needed and where to drop them off please refer to the flyer. Any questions or enquiries please email Peter Swinford at peter@wendoveryouth.co.uk or call on 07950667895.
