MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR

Lionel Abel-Smith Trust

We were delighted when Past Chairman Tony Mogford CBE agreed to become our inaugural Patron last year. Although it was delayed by various lockdowns, it was with tremendous pleasure that we were able to present Tony with a plaque to commemorate this special occasion. It was presented to Tony by the current Chairperson, Gwen Williams, in the presence of all the trustees at a tea party held at Road Farm.

Lionel Abel-Smith Trust is about to launch a fantastic new user-friendly website where you can apply for grants from the Trust online. Watch Wendover News for information about this as the website will be live in the next month or so.

Starting up afresh

More and more regular events in and around Wendover are starting up again. The Events pages, 2 - 5, have expanded back to pre-Covid proportions and include all sorts of regular and one-off events. There is no cost for brief entries in these pages. If you're looking for a hall or room to hire, see ads on pages 10 & 21.

The Wendover Society relaunches with its Harvest Supper on Friday 1 Oct. Wendover Parish Council has been able to run the annual Village Quiz. For dates and teams, see page 19. The Manor Waste will become a beer keller Fri 8 - Sun 10 - see also ad on page 7. The Rotary Duck Race is going ahead again, see page 11 for details. A Wendover Music weekend, see ad page 4. Our local charity Pace has a plethora of fundraising activites to join in with. Watch our High Street windows for a Halloween Trail with treats!

In addition, there are many competetive sports activities returning to a more recognisable timetable. See Club Corner pages 12 & 13 for details.
