Remembrance Parade & Poppy Appeal 2021

A huge thank you to the people of Wendover for an amazing turnout for the annual Remembrance Parade in November. I inherited the role of Parade organiser after my dad John Thompson passed away in December 2019. Covid last year stopped our full parade in 2020 but with help we managed to pay our respects in a socially distanced minimal way. So for 2021 to be my first full parade I am blown away by the turnout and help from everyone involved to make it happen.

My thankyous start with Sally and Remco from the two churches taking the service. A brilliant turnout from all the organisations. The wreath-layers all did an amazing job with our local MP Rob Butler taking his turn. James from No2 also thank you for the loan of the adaptor plug so the microphone would work and Barry Evans from the Legion Club for setting that up for us. Jan Elliott from the hardware shop thank you for the birds-eye view picture so we could see the amazing turnout in all its glory. Simon in Back Street thank you for opening your gates to give the parade space to set up. A special thanks to Ron West for stepping in at the last minute as standard bearer, you did an excellent job. It’s amazing what a shoutout on Facebook can achieve.

Our next parade will be 2.30pm 13 November 2022. Thank you to all involved.

The Poppy Appeal for the Wendover area will exceed £7500. Thank you to all establishments for taking a tin and the ATC collecting at weekends on the Manor Waste and Dobbies. Thank you to the volunteers and RAF Halton for collecting money, delivering out the boxes and counting the money. I couldn’t do this without the amazing team who help every year.
