MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR
70 years on
As we go to press, the excitement is mounting about a four-day weekend including Bank Holidays on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 June to celebrate the Platinum anniversary of the accession of HMQ Elizabeth II. We will probably need the rest of June to recover from all the fun on offer! The actual date of this achievement of service and longevity was back on 6 February but these celebrations have been planned for early June in the hope of better weather.
Thursday 2 June
Halton Village celebrations start at 1.30pm in Halton Tennis Club, see page 2 for details. Wendover Parish Council invites us to bring a picnic and join other residents from 3pm to 6pm on the Witchell Field, HP22 6EG, near the Cricket Pavilion. Live music will be provided by Ellis Green. Friday 3 June
Many local hostelries have decided to put on entertainments on this day, check for ticketing arrangements, including: Craftyard, 13 High Street, HP22 6DU: 12noon til late, live music changes as the afternoon proceeds into the evening. Saturday 4 June
Most residents are gathering in some way for the Big Jubilee Lunch including some planned road closures. St Leonards has a village fete from 2pm, see page 2 for details.
Sunday 5 June
Wendover Free Church will gather for a lunch after their 10:45am service. Booking essential. St Mary's will serve afternoon teas from 2.30 to 4.30pm. Songs of Praise at 5.30pm. See advert page 4. King & Queen, 17 South Street, HP22 6EF: 5-7pm Comedy Club.
