LIBRARY PHOTO COMPETITION

Prize Photo

Many thanks to the talented local photographers who submitted over 100 examples of their work to the annual Wendover Community Library Photography and Calendar Competition. Thirty photos were selected by the Committee and displayed in the Library during three weeks in August so that members of the public could choose their favourite. The FOWL Committee then chose from all photos to produce the Friends of Wendover Library 2023 Calendar, each photo representing one month. It will be on sale in the Community Library in early October, cost £7.50. A perfect gift for friends and family who love Wendover. All profits will support Wendover Community Library.

On Sunday 28 August, Chair of the Trustees of Wendover Community Library, Philip Mitchell, presented King & Queen Pub Landlord, Pete Donne, with a framed copy of the winning photo Wendover Canal in Autumn to display for all to admire and enjoy. Pete gave Jonathan Rogers, the photographer, a meal voucher. Jonathan is a keen local nature photographer who waits for the right moment to capture the carefully curated subject. The runner up was Paul Roberts with a fast and furious Mandarin Duck; Phil Mitchell's Coombe Hill in Winter was a worthy third.

The competition for Calendar 2024 is already open. Please send your entry to fowlmembers@hotmail.com.
