Chiltern Way Academy Governors
Chiltern Way Academy Trust has an OFSTED outstanding school here in Wendover and is recruiting school governors. As a Multi Academy Trust we are in the process of setting up Local Governing Boards for each of our schools, including ours here in Wendover. The board will work alongside the senior leadership team and Trustees in a supportive and challenging way, to ensure the best outcomes for our young people. The sorts of things you would be involved in include safeguarding, health and safety, risk management, performance and quality of educational provision. Meetings take place once each term, with some others as required. It is an incredibly interesting and important role and would suit anyone who is interested in supporting a local school in your community, along with the willingness to give up a few hours a month.
We would love to talk to you, show you round the school and answer any questions you might have.
You can find out more by contacting Paul Coffey, Head of Campus at pcoffey@chilternway.org or by popping in to the school reception.

Remembrance Day at Tim Russ & Co
Local estate agent Tim Russ & Co would like as many local children as possible to make a poppy that can be used as part of a display in their window. They would like to encourage children to get involved in Remembrance Day by helping create a wonderful display to show appreciation for all who served.
If you would like to contribute a poppy, all the poppies can be dropped into the Wendover branch of Tim Russ.
Evening WI Race Night
The Wendover Evening WI local charity fundraiser event “A Night At The Races” was a galloping success! With generous donations from local businesses for the raffle and winning horse owner prizes, there was a scrumptious hog roast and eight horse races on which to place bets. The WI had an outstanding response from the community with tickets selling out within a few weeks.
Most importantly, The Chiltern Foodbank and Wendover Dementia Support will benefit from sharing the £2,140 raised.
Volunteering at Wendover Pool
Would you like to volunteer at our community pool?
If you'd like to train as a lifeguard, the pool is running another NRASTC course 19-20 November. The course cost is fully paid by the pool. In return, they ask that you volunteer at least one session per month for twelve months after you qualify. Onsite orientation is given once you're qualified, and most sessions have more than one lifeguard, so you're often able to swim during your volunteer session. Please email mel@wendoverswimmingpool.co.uk to let our volunteer coordinator know that you're interested in the course.
The pool also offers free swimming to all active volunteers' family members (details given at orientation). If you're interested in finding out more, please contact via www.wendoverswimmingpool.co.uk or email trustees@wendoverswimming.org. See advert page 12.
