Wendover Parish Council - Matters Arising
View from the Chair
September was a busy month when I represented the Parish of Wendover at the Buckinghamshire Council Proclamation reading, their Memorial service for the Queen, and at St Mary’s Wendover for ours. We also read the Proclamation on the Manor Waste at the specified time, and my thanks to the staff for their help with this.
Phoebe Sharps has now joined the team in the new post of Estates & Events Manager, and we wish her every success in the new role. We have had two resignations from the Councillors, Andrew Barnard and Ruth Malleson, due to pressures of work. WPC thanks them for their hard work and commitment to the Parish. We welcome Heather Thornton as one new co-opted councillor and look forward to working with her, leaving one vacancy. Please see our website for details if you wish to apply.
Haddington Play Park is now very near completion and we hope that local children enjoy the new area. Should there be any damage, please report it to the Clocktower, asap. The Parking Review has now closed with a report presented to the Parking Review group on 21 October. Thanks to everyone who commented and rest assured these will be taken into account. Wendover Celebrates fireworks (5 November) and the WPC Christmas event (30 November) are fast approaching so I hope everyone will support these and have fun! Good luck to volunteers, staff and councillors and thank you for your help.
That’s all for now, Enjoy!

New Staff at Wendover Parish Council
Clerk Andy Smith
Andy has a successful track record of governance and elected officers from the charities and the education sector. With over 20 years’ experience in Students’ Unions and experience in SMEs and Charities, Andy has worked in commercial teams, led governance and democratic reform, and developed membership services.
As CEO of a students’ union (a registered charity and company) he rebuilt the governance, staff infrastructure, returned the organisation to a stable financial footing and developed its leadership team. As a charity consultant Andy has designed and implemented peer education projects and is director of a company delivering environmental training for young leaders.
He started his career designing and delivering courses in personal skills development and this started his passion for empowering the people he works with to get the best from them.
It is with this background of elected leadership and governance support in a wide range of contexts that Andy is excited to be supporting the councillors of Wendover Parish Council, a parish he lives in and loves.
Estates & Events Manager Phoebe Sharps
Phoebe has over 6 years of experience in the events industry. Her interest grew from volunteering at community events, along with first aid duty at events as a Corporal Cadet for St John Ambulance in her hometown in Northamptonshire.
Starting her professional career in the industry 5 years ago in the events team for O2, she was event lead on Warchild Brits Week gigs and Theme Park takeovers for O2 customers.
After the lockdown in 2020, Phoebe started working for Hodder Education managing the operations and logistics of the Teacher Training and Student Revision events.
She moved to Bucks where she has family and friend connections 1-½ years ago. Phoebe is ready for the new exciting challenge of Estates and Events Manager for Wendover Parish Council and understands how important community engagement is.
