No2 Oktoberfest Wendover
On 7-9 October under a huge marquee in the middle of Castle Park, Wendover truly celebrated Oktoberfest. James & Nicola Grant pulled off what is probably the most talked about event in years. What a huge success. The Oktoberfest event was held in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. No2 has literally raised tens of thousands of pounds since the event began in 2020.
It all started on our little market square next to No2 Pound Street. The No2 team set up gazebos and put on a mini-Oktoberfest with live music, bratwurst, and a cracking raffle. After 2 years it was clear that Oktoberfest had outgrown its roots and needed to move to a larger space. Castle Park has never
seen such an event. There were hundreds of guests dressed in their lederhosen and dirndl’s singing along to Oompa and popular tunes played by live bands. There was a long bar serving German lagers and of course an open kitchen preparing Pretzels, Bratwurst & Black Forest Gateaux. No2 used an open fire pit called the OFYR to cook the pretzels and bratwursts and used Big Green Egg barbecues to keep everything hot. Imagine having to serve almost 300 people in a field and keep them all happy with Steins of lager.
No2 look forward to coming back next year with an even better Oktoberfest, raising more money for another worthwhile charity.
