Wendover Horticultural Society
The Wendover Horticultural Society monthly meeting is on Thursday 2 March at St Anne’s Hall, Aylesbury Road, Wendover, at 2.30 PM. The speaker is Chris Day, from Buckingham Garden Centre, entitled “Colour in our garden”. Over the last 50 years the Centre has grown and established itself as the national “go-to” nursery for a wide range of shrubs and bareroot hedging plants. It hosts a regular podcast, discussing questions with specialists.

On the morning of Saturday, 18 March we will be having a WI stall at the market on the Manor Waste. We will be selling a selection of homemade cakes, jams and chutneys plus plants and a raffle. Please visit us if you are passing.
Aylesbury Dolls House Club
At the March meeting, Aylesbury Dolls House Club are starting their ‘long’ project for the year. This will be a “Book Nook” which will take 2 evenings and a Saturday workshop to complete. A “Book Nook” is a narrow box, approximately 3 to 4 inches wide, which is designed to show a scene inside, but sit on a bookshelf between books! Club members are currently each trying to decide which scene to make! If you would be interested in finding out how to do this, 1 March would be a good evening to come along and find out! Meeting at Halton Village Hall, contact Diane on 07899090399 or arcadia96@btinternet.com for more information.
RSPB Aylesbury Local Group
The next indoor talk is on Monday 20 March with “Ultima Frontera, Romania” by Gordon Small, exploring the wildlife of the wildest part of the majestic Danube Delta. Held at the Prebendal Hall Community Centre, Fowler Road, Aylesbury HP19 7QW; starts 7.30pm; entry for non-Aylesbury Group members is £6 but with under 18’s free. Make the most of spring on local nature reserves
Now the worst of the winter weather is past us, let's think about giving a helping hand on any of the Wildlife Trust reserves near Wendover. College Lake is always keen to have more help with visitors at the outdoor welcome desk or inside the Visitor Centre. Note that the reserve will be open on all the bank holiday Mondays coming up but closed on other Mondays. At Dancersend, Weston Turville and Bacombe Hill you can get stuck in to practical conservation work. In all cases please register your interest with volunteering@bbowt.org.uk to find out more.
The final talk of the winter season is at Great Missenden Memorial Centre, HP16 9AE on Tuesday 21 March when Brian Eversham, CEO of the Beds, Cambs and Northants Wildlife Trust will tell us about the impact of Climate Change on local wildlife. Doors open at 7pm, admission is £5 including refreshments and all are welcome. Find more details of all activities and reserve locations at bbowt.org.uk

Wendover Friends of Guiding needs you!
Wendover Friends of Guiding looks after the Guide Hut on Manor Crescent.
Are you able to help in areas where the committee members have little or no experience? This may include fundraising, selling items the units no longer need on ebay, or PAT testing.
All members of the public are welcome in Wendover Friends of Guiding; you don't need to have been in Guiding yourself or be a parent of a current unit member. The next meeting is Wednesday 1 March at 8pm in the Guide Hut HP22 6HH. Why not come see what help you can offer?
