Wendover Shed
Wendover Shed is a community project to set up a shared space where people can meet to create and share practical projects, with access to working facilities, tools, and each other's help and experience. The goal is to promote health and well-being through social interaction and practical activities.
Our starter shed (above) will be a Groundhog Welfare Container, kindly donated by GE HealthCare, from the decommissioning of The Grove Centre site in Amersham. The metal unit is approximately 9m x 2.5m and is split into two sections, a workshop and a kitchen. It may need a lick of paint, but it is structurally sound, just in need of a bit of TLC.
Thanks to Wendover Parish Council, our Groundhog container has a home near the allotments on Hogtrough Lane. Our shed will be next to the existing wooden shack being used to collect water for the allotments. This shack may be an interesting future project. It's basically a shed, after all. We have opportunities for many types of shed members, known as “Shedders”. Some might be looking to join our practical make and mend sessions or simply meet up for a coffee and a natter. Some might want to help us paint our new shed or help us with a small garden outside. Alternatively, some may be looking to get more involved as a volunteer, helper or sponsor to support our activities.
We hope to have our shed in place by the end of February and plan an Open Day in early March. Watch our social media for updates.
