With Saturday 24 June being Armed Forces Day and Wednesday 21 June being Reserves Day, I thought I would write briefly about Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) for the military.

Having served in the army before taking up law, I am delighted to be working regularly with members of the military, both serving and retired, as well as non-military personnel who work on military bases.

A well-planned Will enables you to decide who looks after your estate and who benefits from it. I strongly recommend that serving and retired military personnel consider having a professionally drawn up Will prepared, both to plan for your and your family`s future, and to provide peace of mind.

Wills – detailed or straight forward – can be prepared quickly and at short notice whenever required.

LPAs are also extremely important, both for you and your family, such as when posted overseas, on operations or on exercise. They again provide peace of mind knowing that you have decided who can look after your affairs should you want them to, or should they ever need to, for whatever reason.
