...continued from Front Page:

The coronation was the largest military ceremonial operation for 70 years and involved more than 9,000 service personnel, of which 6,000 were on ceremonial duties, 949 of them from the RAF. The RAF Regiment, the Combined Bands of the RAF, RAF Halton, the Royal Auxiliary Air Force, RAF College Cranwell and other RAF units took part. The station provided its own personnel to accompany RAF Halton’s Colour, as well as other parade personnel and drill instructors, totalling 96 officers and aviators from Halton.

The RAF presented its seven Colours (ceremonial flags) at this event, representing the King’s Colour for the Royal Air Force in the UK; Number 1 School of Technical Training; the RAuxAF Sovereign’s Colour; RAFC Cranwell; RAF Halton; the RAF Regiment; and the Central Flying School.

Today RAF Halton delivers basic recruit training for all non-commissioned aviators at the start of their career, and command, leadership and management training as they progress through the ranks. All recruit training was paused for two weeks to facilitate the preparation for 650 parade personnel and a further 150 support personnel.

• On Sunday 25 June RAF Halton personnel will be marching in the streets of Wendover to mark the RAF’s Freedom of the Vale of Aylesbury. For times and places to watch this see our website: www.wendovernews. co.uk

The 'Hog' is Open for Business!

Since the installation of our Groundhog Container on Hogtrough Lane, our current membership has been growing with the number of active Shedders now into double digits. They have been busy preparing the site and the workshop in readiness for a wider opening.

We are very pleased to announce that we are now hosting our 'Make and Mend' sessions at Wendover Shed. These sessions target both new members and our existing Shedder community. They are supervised and have a simple handtool project people can get involved with. Alternatively, you may like to get involved with some of our larger practical projects, such as building our outdoor covered area, or even a project of your own.

We continue with our Coffee and Natter sessions, where you can simply meet the team, drink tea and coffee, and eat biscuits.
