This is a reconstruction project of Chongqing old industry building. For this project, I think the continuity of the sense of industry and the utilization of the original structure should be kept. The hotel takes the “beam as the construction idea, form the streamline pipy room through the combination of the space and structure, highlighting the extreme space experience.

Public space interior design The interior design of the public space takes the “color as the concept, using the different colors of windows to create various space colors to play the role of dividing the rooms with different functions. Meanwhile, the light in different colors will play the role of guiding the people stream.

Fashion and art wizard Alexander Mcqueen is the most influential mster .The exclusive agency design's inspiration is come from his fashion design soul and style.Summarize his style:symmetry, ecological pattern , goth and death adoration .These words also effect our design conception. The most image created by Alexander Mcqueen are monsters beyong hunma. Therfore the conception is a monster struggle in a airtight space. The exterior is the extension of the interior, and syncretize with interio. The skeleton is the mian design element in this design. We want describe a crouched monster and bring feel that her soul struggle and leave her own body.We commemorate Mcqueen by this work.

The specialty store is divided into five functional areas according to different functions. The center is the exhibition hall, which can serve as a site for exhibition show. The back part can be used as office and reception area. The second floor is for stores selling women’s dress. And the third floor is for stores selling men’s clothing. Each functional area is connected by ramp and staircase, forming a continuous streamline.

The memorial hall is the core of the design, which is structured as the shape of MCQUEEN's design for corset. The ramp and staircase and other means of transport are all around the central space. The streamlined traffic space can enable the customers to enjoy the center hall while watching the goods exhibited. FUNCTION ANALYSIS SECTION A-A

MODER PHOTOS Study the inner construction through the model Material for construction: Acrylic Enclosure material: high-elastic silk fabric Methods of making model: CAD model slicing, aser cutting, assembling

The design for outer skin is relatively simple as the external form is decided by internal space. The windows are constructed as the shape of shark’s cheek, which make the appearance change delicately when viewed from different angles. The entrance looks like the mouth of a monster, drawing people into the room.

For the inner design, bone is taken as its element. As the majority of MCQUEEN’ clothing is of rich colors, the inner design takes white as the main color as a complementary to the brand’s feature. One will feel like standing in a living body when entering the room, enjoy a feeling of steady state.

FURNITURE As the theme for the inner design is bone, the furnishings are both light and heavy. The skinny light furniture is inline with the strong sense of style, while the heavy furniture brings a sense of stability.

The memorial hall is the core of the design. Here we hope bring the feel of holy and Goth. The exposed structure make the whole space outstanding and turn into exceptional eye-catching fascination. The hall will be used to hold fashion show and exhibition .

This research is to design for dining space. The designing base is located at Sanlitun SOHO, an intersection of business, commerce and residents, where female whitecollars are the major consumers according to our investigation. Therefore, the dining space is designed into a special restaurant for ladies with flowers as design elements to display the characteristics of female. The space mainly gives people a feeling quiet and hazy. It is expected to create a quiet, free and relaxing space for female in the noisy world.

TEXTURE ANALYSIS

SINGLE TEXTURE

The basic element for the design is line, which can form translucent surfaces. The surfaces then stagger and form enclosed space. Due to the superimposed layers of texture on the facades, there is rich visual spacing changes, which make people can not see directly across the facades, but can look around vaguely. This design intends to show blur visual effect with looming visual experience. It would guarantee the privacy space while show rich visual changes.

The whole design takes the wall of the frame-tube as the visual center to keep in line with the original characteristics of the center-based space. The concept of flower is dismantled to petals as design elements. The wall is divided into four layers and each layer changes slightly from angle in the same position. Four translucent walls overlap, combined with the lamp behind the walls, showing a visual effect that the petals are gradually blossoming.

Considering that the plane is centered at the frame-tube, we abstract the space as a petallike shape with the concept of flower and divide it into five functional areas: kitchen, bar waiting area, casual sitting area, lounge area and private rooms, all these areas can communicate through the frame-tube with several circular flow lines.

There is no space completely closed in the restaurant, and the privacy space is separated just by overlapped textures. Being designed with the concept of flowers, though, the space does not simply display texture colors of flower, but extends this element to a three-dimensional space which looks like petals. The flat layout has also applied this concept to form an annular space with the center of frame-tube. The main body of the space is white with a floating, stable and quiet atmosphere to be brought by all the decorations and textures.

THE MAJOR TASK OF THIS PART IS TO DO EXPERIMENT ON MATERIALS AND LIGHTING. I TRY TO EXPLORE HOW THE MODEL WOULD AFFECT THE R E S U LT S I N T H E D E S I G N PROCESS.MODEL IS THE M O S T D I R E C T W AY T O EXPRESS THE RESEARCH AND THE CHANGE OF IDEAS

MODEL & RESER

THE FOAM HOSE

In this process, we made a lot of models to explore the possibility. We studied in a small range to find out the possible spatial forms composed by the foam hose and got a conclusion that a channel space was most possible.

THE MATERIAL RESEATCH The Foam Hose The Wire Team members Wenny GAO Cheng Chen Ninghui LI Shanshan Wang Material The Foam Hose Tutor Ling Fan Time 2009.9-2009.10

The main objective of this research is the possibility of applying plastic in construction. Plastic is a kind of material that would be widely applied in design. Our group has chosen The Foam Hose as our material as it is flexible and light. But it is too soft to be made into shapes. Therefore, in order to solve this problem in our research, we have tried several ways such as knitting, adding auxiliary materials and stacking and so on to make it strong enough to load independently and ultimately form a space for channel.

The Foam Hose

We inserted some wires to the foam tube to make it harder to be easier for shaping. It can form a free space by adjusting the shape of wires.

At the later stage, we enlarged the size of the model as we thought this can be done by taking advantage of its own flexible characteristic. We used some ropes as support materials and woven them according to certain modulus to form a stretchable model. Besides, we inserted some wires to the foam tube at the edge of the model to help it shaping.

THE DETAILS PHOTOS

At the third stage of the experiment, we cooperated with other groups and add one of their elements: plastic pipe into our model. We cut up the pipe and rolled it into the shape like a flat disc, and then we put it into the net as a decoration as well as a setting that stretched net with its gravity.

Our initial intention of the design was to form an independent loading space by foam tube, and we found it can be achieved through model with certain size after trying several times. Adding supporting materials, we discovered that the space form became even more flexible. In one way, it can be formed by fixing some points of the net; in another way, it can form a free channel space by adjusting the shape of wires.

CAPTURE LIGHTING

CAPTURE LIGHTING Team members Wenyu Gao Jie Wang Yang Zhao Tutor Pro Turbon Nielsen Time 2009.4-2009.5

The purpose of this project is to study the impact of sun as part of lighting design on construction. Research methods: For the first stage, select a lamp and rock it in a dark room, then extend exposure time to capture the trace of light by taking photos, meanwhile, record the movement of the light. For the second stage, design a 1m Ă— 1m Ă— 0.3m model according to the photos taken at the previous stage, and then capture and record the changes of sunlight at different times with the model.

POINT LIGHTING Since the lamp we chosen is LED light with point source light, the pictures can show only light points and dotted light. Therefore, our research purpose is to capture the light and shadow brought by a point source. We put a structural unit at the rear of the model to interrupt the light, thus the light become a series of interrupted light bands when it passes through the model, with the model placed in the same location, we manage to record the delicate changes of the light when it crosses the model at different times.
