Letter From 'WE'

Dear Readers, This issue is very special, not only because October 10 is the World Mental Health Day, but also because most of the pieces in this issue are written and edited by youth - the future of human race. It is heartwarming to read their profound insights on a topic as important as mental wellness. Their candid and raw expressions and the honest narratives which they share fills one with hope. Hope that Mental Health indeed Matters and WE are on the right path. So, as a mark of respect to youth we invited one of the next us - a young mental health warrior telling what she thinks, how the world is and how it should be. A Guest Letter From A Young Mental Health Warrior We live in a world which is modern, digitalised and advanced in nature. Our lives are fast paced and we’re engaged in different spheres of our lives at once leading us to multitask almost every moment. In this situation the human tendency of ignoring one’s own emotions and vehemence has doubled. We often put a bandage around a mental wound without applying first aid. On the other hand, in case of a physical wound, we apply first aid, go to a professional and get it treated. In this process, we don’t mind spending a good amount of money. We are also sympathised by our people. All of this only because it is visible, more evident and easily detectable. When it comes to a mental wound, we’re scared to seek help or even speak out to our dear ones. We are scared to lose our family prestige or self reputation in our society. We’re taken aback due to fear of judgement. We either deny or suppress our affliction. It is high time we realise that mental health is as important, or probably more important than our physical health. We need to get rid of this social taboo as soon as possible to help people heal, to help people take up this field without any hesitation. If we still do not apply the first aid, every time we open the bandage, bleeding will continue. Hence, speak up and seek help or else the process of healing will remain stagnant. Rajanya Choudhury Rajanya Choudhury is an ardent lover of all kinds of art forms. She is a dedicated mental health professional, a blogger and has tried to bring out certain aspects of the society which are otherwise hidden. She wants to facilitate a change and wishes to address the oppressed issues, remove the stigma and make a contribution to help spread awareness. She is bold yet sensitive at the same time, and so are her write-ups.

The Emotional Wellness Platform WWW.WEQIP.COM

EQUIPPING WELLNESS - MIND + HEART+ SOUL

India is home to more than 1.3 billion people and over 200 million suffer from mental illness sometime during their lifetime. Unfortunately, out of these only a few ever muster the courage to talk about it and reach out for help. Why? Because mental illness is still considered a stigma, a shame, a humiliation, and a big stain on one’s personality. We have a long way to create a culture which considers mental illness for what it is – an illness. We at WEQIP are driven by the philosophy that ‘Mind is part of the body too’ and we need to take care of it as much as our body. In line with this, we are dedicated to creating platforms and driving initiatives which bring people together to acknowledge, talk about, and address the elephant in the room. ABOUT US

WEQIP™ FOCUSES ON ENHANCING WELLNESS OF MIND, HEART, AND SOUL THE TRINITY FOR HAPPINESS

Our publications are completely collaborative in nature and our stories are of people, by people, and most importantly for people. They are for those of us whose life is touched by emotional or behavioural health issue at any point in time in their life – a parent, a teacher, a manager, a child, an IT professional, an actor, a housewife, an HR executive, an artist, a friend to name a few. WEQIP Blog or WE Blog as we like to refer it to and our digital magazine WE Mag is constantly on the lookout of people who have something powerful to say about Emotional/ Behavioural Health & Wellness. We encourage experts, professionals, mental health warriors from various backgrounds to share their knowledge and experiences through these media. The ideas can take any form - art, essay, story, poem, interview, showcase, spotlight, or a straightforward article. The content becomes more enriched as we go along this collaborative journey. If you feel you have a story in you, an idea which would help others, a great practice which is worth emulating, or you are just curious to know more, please reach out to us at – write@weqip.com OUR DIGITAL PUBLICATIONS
