Wesleyan Christian Academy is pleased to partner with Flik Hospitality Group for the breakfast and lunch needs of our students. The cost of breakfast and lunch is not included in the cost of the TK-12 Academy tuition and fees but runs off of a declining balance account. You can add money to your family’s Flik account by logging into your Family Portal, then clicking on Financial. Under the Prepay Accounts section, click on Add Funds under your lunch account. You can link your account to a credit or debit card for a small fee, or you can link it directly to your checking account. Once you reach a minimum of a $10.00 balance, you will receive an automated email letting you know you need to add funds to your child’s lunch account. Please note that students with a significant balance will be limited in what they can purchase for lunch.
2023-2024 BACK TO SCHOOL GUIDE
Development
To assist us in providing the very best education possible, we ask that you prayerfully consider giving to Wesleyan in the following areas.
ANNUAL GIFT GIVING (AGG) Gifts to the Annual Gift Giving campaign support special projects that enhance a student’s experience at Wesleyan through a wide variety of academic and extracurricular programming. All students from the Early Education Center through 12th grade benefit from AGG.
FINANCIAL AID (TK - 12TH GRADE) Each year, approximately 160 financial aid awards are made that enable students to attend Wesleyan. The amount of money that families qualify to receive is more than double the money available to award through financial aid. Without the support of generous donors like you, many families might have to withdraw from Wesleyan.
FACULTY ENDOWMENT Wesleyan’s faculty endowment fund is used to honor innovation, provide special recognition, and provide professional development opportunities to our amazing teachers.
THE LEGACY SOCIETY The Legacy Society has been established at Wesleyan Christian Academy as a means to provide special recognition of those individuals who have included us in their estate planning.
UPDATE ON OUR SANDY RIDGE CAMPUS In His perfect timing, the Lord provided 71 acres in the “Heart of the Triad” at the corner of Sandy Ridge Road and Johnson Street. This new property has been a blessing, freeing us from previous space constraints to allow us to seek God’s direction for expansion and additional educational opportunities.
The first phase of development required obtaining the land in 2010. The second phase, beginning in 2012, included the grading and installing infrastructure for the outdoor recreational areas.. This phase also included zoning, architectural renderings, engineering studies, etc.
While the end goal is to build a new school on the Sandy Ridge Campus, we’ve been blessed to be able to build athletics facilities and leadership venues for the benefit of our students and families thanks to the generosity of Wesleyan donors. Today, we are grateful to have a beautiful campus with a state-of-the-art baseball complex, softball stadium, open-air pavilion, playground, grill pad, soccer field, cross country course, and leadership ropes course.
There are more exciting opportunities coming for the Sandy Ridge Campus in the year ahead, and we look forward to sharing them with you soon. If you would like more information about being a donor, please contact Suzanne Cook, Development Officer (scook@wcatrojans.org), Chris Glover, Development Officer (cglover@wcatrojans.org), or Mason Garner, Development Coordinator (mgarner@wcatrojans.org).
SCHOOL SAFETY & SECURITY
The safety and security of your children is our most important priority. Over the years, Wesleyan has consistently updated our safety protocols to help ensure campus security. As of July 2023, ALL measures below are part of our 20232024 Campus Security Plan.
NEW / UPDATED FOR 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR
• A Campus Security Coordinator, Steve Myers, has been hired to oversee the safety and security of our dual campus.
• Security cameras are located and recording at every entrance, throughout exterior parking lots, internal school hallways, and stairwells.
• External speakers have been positioned around campus to ensure communication outside of the building.
• Bullet resistant film will be installed on windows at various locations on the Centennial Campus this fall thanks to the generosity of Wesleyan donors.
• Security keypads have been installed for both auditorium balcony doors.
• All auditorium doors are being replaced early this fall semester to enable auditorium doors to be locked if necessary.
NEW! STUDENT ACCESS / ID BADGES
• Controlled access to our building is critical to the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. To accomplish this, all outside doors will remain locked and require a school-issued ID badge for entrance (by swiping) during the school day.
• All Middle and High School students will be issued a WCA ID badge with a lanyard on the first day of school. No photographs or school info will be included on the ID badges.
• Elementary teachers will manage building entry for their classes during the day. Elementary students will receive ID badges from their teachers daily for the purpose of media center use and personalized computer login. NOTE: No photographs or school info will be included on ID badges.
• We have established a new 2023-2024 WCA Facility Access Schedule that aligns with badge use that will be shared with students and parents on the first day of school.
NEW! PARENT & VISITOR SIGN IN
• Parents and visitors should enter the building through the Main Academy Office, which is accessible via Entrance “C” off of N. Centennial Street. The office entrance is under canopy “A,” which is closest to our soccer field.
• Parents and visitors must be buzzed in via the Main Academy Office personnel. Please prepare for your ID to be run through our security system. A Wesleyan-provided Visitor’s Pass must be worn while on campus, and visitors must be accompanied by a staff member.
NEW / UPDATED IN 2022-2023
• Two High Point Police Officers are on campus each school day between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM, with police vehicles parked on the Centennial and Eastchester sides of campus.
• All faculty and staff have ongoing critical incident training, and twenty-two (22) staff members have been identified as “Emergency Responders.” These faculty and staff members carry walkie-talkies for quick communication.
Place Prior To 2022
• Police Pull-Stations have been installed throughout the Centennial Street campus.
• The High Point Police Department often uses Wesleyan’s campus for critical incident training after school hours.
• All classrooms lock from the inside and are equipped with door window coverings.
• Exterior security checks take place nightly.
• Fire drills, tornado drills, and critical incident drills are scheduled throughout the school year.
• Five (5) Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are located across campus.
• Five (5) Epi-Pens are located across campus.
