Founded in 1836, Wesleyan was the first college in the world chartered to grant degrees to women, and today is regarded as one of the nation’s finest liberal arts colleges. First for Women is not just a claim to fame — it is a philosophy that separates our learning community from all others. We’re anchored in tradition and guided by an innovative spirit, and we take our role as a pioneer in women’s education seriously. Why choose a women’s college? A small, selective school like Wesleyan College offers you countless opportunities for leadership, whether as a captain of the team, chair of the committee, or president of the class. You’ll be free to explore and express yourself in a supportive environment designed to develop women into extraordinary leaders. And you’ll never, ever lack for support (from peers or professors). Learning Imagine being surrounded by hundreds of people who are absolutely convinced you can do anything. That’s how it is at Wesleyan. Our faculty will prepare you to attain top positions and lead in your career field. According to several national studies, women’s colleges are more successful than co-ed colleges in graduating unique women who report high levels of satisfaction academically, developmentally, and personally. But Wesleyan isn’t just a women’s college. It’s a community of learners and doers –– women who have big plans for the future and refuse to limit themselves. Wesleyan will teach you about character, conscience, and the unlimited creativity you have to transform the world. Students Wesleyan College draws a wonderfully eclectic mix of women – about 700 in all – from all across the U.S. and more than twenty countries, bringing to campus a multitude of backgrounds and ethnicities. Wesleyan students choose to come here because they want to test their limits. The bar is set high because our students demand it. Faculty Noted scholars with the highest degrees in their fields from places like Oxford, MIT, Georgetown, Yale, Duke, and Vanderbilt will push you to think harder and aim higher than you ever have before. They’ll challenge you to think across disciplines and delve into moral and ethical issues. Since most of your classes at Wesleyan will have fewer than twenty students, you’ll be well known by every professor you have. But be prepared: they’ll expect you to speak up and express yourself. In return, you can expect them to support you, care about your success, and help you get internships, summer jobs, and graduate school appointments. Student Life Life outside the classroom is a pretty big component of happy college days, and we guarantee you will become involved in more than academic classes at Wesleyan. Wesleyan women aren’t the types to keep their noses buried in books from morning to night. Sure, we study – and study hard – but we also like to play. You might try out for any of Wesleyan’s six varsity teams, join one of our twenty-six clubs and musical groups, or one of thirteen academic honor societies. And there’s so much more. Wesleyan is a tight weave of traditions that combine to create what we call “sisterhood.” Depending on your year, you will be a Green Knight, Pirate, Purple Knight, or Golden Heart. We could go on and on about our traditions, but we’ll save the rest for when you come and visit. Living Here Stables and a riding ring, state-of-the-art fitness center, luxury residential suites, and a liberal arts education. What more could a woman want? Wesleyan’s 200-acre lakeside campus features historically significant Georgian-style red brick buildings; multi-million dollar wellness, athletic, and equestrian facilities; a student café; art studios; science labs… in other words, all the comforts of home – and then some. Wesleyan is nestled in a northern suburb of Macon, right in the middle of Georgia. We’re easily accessible off I-475, just ninety minutes south of Atlanta.

Exciting News at Wesleyan: Pending approval by the Georgia Board of Nursing and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools/Commission on Colleges, Wesleyan College plans to introduce a baccalaureate in nursing degree with core nursing courses beginning Fall 2013. Interested students are encouraged to begin the prerequisite coursework as soon as possible.
Athletics With six NCAA Division III sports teams – including soccer, basketball, tennis, softball, volleyball, and cross country – the Wesleyan Pioneers regularly win All-Conference and All-Academic honors. Wesleyan College is well-known for its outstanding equestrian program. With two national champions in hunt seat and western events in recent years, we really fit well in the saddle. Our equestrians compete in Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) and Affiliated National Riding Commission (ANRC) events. Scholarships As one of the nation’s most affordable selective colleges, Wesleyan raises millions of dollars each year for student scholarships, grants, and campus jobs. The College offers a strong merit scholarship program as well as comprehensive financial aid. In part, this commitment to creating financial access for students and their families has enabled Wesleyan to attract an extremely talented and diverse student body. Students may be eligible for Merit, Leadership and Fine Arts Awards based on their GPA, test scores, and auditions or portfolio presentations. Students are also encouraged to meet the eligibility requirements to compete for full tuition scholarships awarded at our annual Scholarship Day in February. Wesleyan’s premier full tuition scholarships valued at $18,500 are awarded in the categories of Math and Science, Humanities, Fine Arts, Social Sciences, and Faith and Service.
