WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF

Wesleyan believes —

• in education that is authentically Christ-centered AND academically rigorous.

• in fostering humility AND valuing achievement.

• in both accountability AND grace for students.

• in training children to be independent AND fostering their development in an age-appropriate manner.

• in parents who want their children to succeed AND allow them to grow through failure.

• the challenges students will face in the future will be solved by leaders of character AND intellect.

WHAT IS THE POWER OF “AND”?

MISSION STATEMENT

Wesleyan’s mission is to be a Christian school of academic excellence by providing each student a diverse college preparatory education guided by Christian principles and beliefs; by challenging and nurturing the mind, body, and spirit; and by developing responsible stewardship in our changing world.

Faith and intellect are great partners.

While knowledge and information are important, wisdom and truth are transformational. We believe that a renewed mind is one that is being transformed into the image of Christ. As Wesleyan students learn kingdom values and gospel truth, they grow in mind, body, and spirit. Wesleyan faculty, staff, coaches, directors, and mentors model and teach that the Christian faith is not to be compartmentalized. Rather, faith permeates how we learn, study, serve, compete, perform, create, relate, and dream. It is by faith that we believe we are called to use all the gifts God has given us to pursue excellence for His glory.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Between kindergarten and grade four –

Wesleyan students learn that they are pursued by a God who loves them; they are known, treasured, and challenged by their teachers; and they can explore, grow, and excel without fear of failure. Wesleyan teachers bring learning to life with the multi-sensory Orton-Gillingham approach to language arts, a one-to-one iPad program to support lessons, and individual and small group work to cultivate opportunities to grow, collaborate, and communicate. From teachers and learning specialists to counselors and after school activity leaders, the lower school faculty is committed to sharing gospel-centered values with students during this exceptional childhood experience.

“And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.”

AND NURTURING THE SPIRIT

CHALLENGING THE WHOLE CHILD

During the adolescent years of middle school –

Wesleyan students build a foundation for Christ to be in their hearts and minds. As they begin taking more responsibility for their own learning and actions, they develop independence in a nurturing environment. Teachers, mentors, coaches, and directors remind each student that they are fearfully, wonderfully, and uniquely created with strengths, passions, and curiosities. With biblically grounded confidence, students explore academic interests and extracurricular opportunities while they grow in relationships with peers and adults.

GOALS FOR WESLEYAN MIDDLE SCHOOLERS:

• Encounter Jesus.

• Learn to love one another and yourself.

• Embrace learning, thinking, and growing.

"Our daughter has clearly shown a new confidence that we believe comes from the responsibility of being in middle school. Her teachers have shown an incredible dedication to helping her reach her full potential by challenging her while also providing a loving support network."

We believe our differences make up the body of Christ.

Wesleyan seeks to cultivate a diverse and unified community in which every child is known, loved, and valued as an image-bearer of God. This pursuit is founded in biblical truth, guided by kingdom values, and empowered by gospel hope. In practice, Wesleyan incorporates diversity programming into the school day through lessons, speakers, and activities. We offer optional events and groups for students, faculty, and parents desiring to deepen their understanding of diversity.

• Gender – As a student at a co-ed school with some gender-specific classes and teams, children will learn to love their unique strengths.

• Race & Ethnicity – Every student will engage with classmates and teachers of different races and ethnicities, preparing them to collaborate and build relationships with individuals of all backgrounds.

“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ."

We are made in the image of a creative God.

More than cheers and championships

the athletic program at Wesleyan is dedicated to encouraging and developing the character of student-athletes through participation, competition, and sportsmanship. Physical education classes, after school programs, and community clinics introduce lower school students to the fundamentals of athletic movement and competition. Experienced and dedicated coaches teach middle and high school students to push themselves, encourage their teammates, and compete with distinction. This distinction is not only measured in cheers or championships but is characterized by student-athletes becoming more of who God made them to be.

"At Wesleyan, we coach because we believe that athletics are just another vehicle to live out our mission and deliver the message of Jesus. Athletics open avenues for coaches to further pour into the lives of the student-athletes. I like to say that we live a whole lifetime of emotions during each season, which means that our students learn how to face challenges and triumphs in a way that is glorifying to God's kingdom."

Balancing work and rest is biblically founded –

which helps Wesleyan students flourish. The school schedule is intentionally crafted to include academic classes as well as community connection. The schedule also incorporates speakers to support social-emotional learning and time to pursue unique passions in clubs. Additionally, middle and high school students connect in faculty-led small groups, and quarterly family nights are homework-free evenings followed by a late arrival day with no tests or quizzes.

To help ease the burden of traffic and logistics, Wesleyan offers morning and afternoon bus service throughout north Atlanta.

Once a Wolf, always a Wolf!

Wesleyan cares about who our students are today and tomorrow, and we care about who our students become in the next 10, 20, and 50 years. Our prayer is that they excel professionally and go on to be the neighbors, spouses, parents, and friends that God is calling them to be.

The relationships that begin at Wesleyan do not end when students graduate. Through college visits, Christmas and Easter celebrations, and family events, Wesleyan continues to connect with and support our alumni as they navigate college, career, and family.
