WCT’s 23/24 Season leaps off the stage with music, laughter, and thrills. Featuring a dazzling array of iconic musicals, family fun for adults and kids of all ages, razor-sharp classic thrillers re-told for a modern age, hilarious theatrical hijinks, and the return of a couple of Kamloops’ fan-favourites. WCT is theatre you can believe in. We can’t wait to bring you an explosive, joyous, intriguing, and daring season that offers something for everyone in our community. A season for all of us in the Southern Interior—curious, resilient, passionate, fun, and fierce.

I’m a believer in theatre that brings us together, whether you’ve been with us for 48 years or you’re coming through our doors for the first time. Last year we were reminded of the sheer joy of being together after too long apart: families experiencing the transformative power of live theatre for the first time; couples of all ages on date nights; gaggles of Pink Ladies in limos; book clubs, sports clubs, and social clubs; everyone from bookkeepers, business owners, and bricklayers to landscapers, lawyers, and local leaders—you all poured through the doors of our theatres with vibrant anticipation and the immeasurable happiness of finally being together.

Let’s believe in each other and get back to where we belong—together. You will never cheer, cry, or wonder, or sit on the edge of your seat, or bust a gut, or feel empathy and compassion as deeply as you do when you are sitting with your friends, loved ones, and fellow Kamloopsians at the theatre. We believe in you, and it’s our goal and pleasure to inspire and entertain all of you.

Stage One Theatre School offers Acting, Musical Theatre, and Performance classes year-round for ages 4 to 18, as well as Teen Drama Workshops, Spring Break programs, and Summer Camps.

London, 1901. Bella Manningham has a picture-perfect life in a gorgeous Victorian manor home with her debonair and doting husband, Jack. But Bella fears she is losing her mind. Items mysteriously disappear, pictures move unexpectedly, gas lights dim for no apparent reason, and strange noises creak through the house at night when Bella is home alone. Is she losing her grip on reality, or is it being loosened for her?

Gaslight, v.: To manipulate (a person) by psychological means into questioning his or her own sanity (Oxford English Dictionary). Based on Patrick Hamilton’s 1938 mystery play Angel Street where the term “gaslighting” was coined. Rick Miller returns to complete the BOOM trilogy with an exploration of “Generation Y,” aka Millennials, and “Generation Z.” With his signature performance style, dazzling impersonations, and mind-blowing multimedia, taking on over 100 voices, from George Bush to Lady Gaga to Leonard Cohen, while highlighting significant cultural moments from the past three decades, including Harry Potter, Dance Dance Revolution, iPhones, and social media. The voice of Rick’s own daughter joins the story of his parents, partner, and friends to reflect the joys, aspirations and anxieties of young people today.

Featuring songs and stories from a variety of classical and contemporary Canadian artists in an array of musical styles including spirituals, jazz, blues, soul, R&B, pop, and hip hop.

An explosive, dynamic telling of the last week of Jesus’ life, full of iconic music, exhilarating dance, and stirring performances. The greatest story ever told, following the exuberant faith of Jesus’ followers, the betrayal of Judas, and the devastating finale. A story of faith, passion, and betrayal, as relevant today as it was 2000 years ago, leaping off the Sagebrush stage in an all-new, original WCT production.

What’s the buzz? This quintessential 1970’s rock opera has wowed audiences worldwide for over 50 years! Jesus Christ Superstar was the first professionally produced musical created by musical theatre legends Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice ( Evita , Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and more). Filled with powerful voices and well-known classic rock musical numbers as “Superstar,” “I Don’t Know How to Love Him,” and “Gethsemane.”

It takes great imagination to survive. A young Indigenous girl growing up in Alberta navigates a world of substance abuse, aliens, and the spiritual presence of her guiding grandmothers. In her darkest moments, her superhero Kookum with magic moccasins appears to help light the way forward.
