Dear Alumni: As we begin a hopeful new year, I am happy to say that I am filled with pride and enthusiasm. Westfield is a great place to work, to teach and to learn. I’m inspired daily by our students, faculty, staff, administrators and alumni, whose contributions to our university and the greater community make us all proud. 2012 was a year of challenge with complicated financial times in Massachusetts, a very long presidential campaign and severe weather, but together we managed to get to the other side. Westfield State is recognizing the opportunities, imagining the possibilities, forging alliances and building an exciting future for us all, as we enhance community on Western Avenue and in our city center. In short, we have much to celebrate. My thanks to you for your continued support and to the Department of Alumni and Community Relations, who work so diligently on our behalf. Kit, Harry and I hope that you had a wonderful holiday season and wish you the happiest of New Years. Sincerely, Evan S. Dobelle President
