LETTER from the TOWNSHIP TRUSTEE
Winter is on its way! This is a time full of holiday traditions. One tradition that began at MacGregor Park in 2004, is when a visitor put an ornament on a small, two-foot-tall evergreen tree located on the back trail of the park. Over the years visitors have continued this special tradition. The small evergreen is now over 12’ tall and is sought out by so many individuals, groups and families. Many people bring a special ornament to place on the tree for decoration or to commemorate a loved one. Many come to visit the Christmas Tree year after year, searching for their ornament as the tree grows.
Recently, we have had someone remove all the ornaments without approval from our office. We have received an alarming amount of calls, emails and people stopping staff in the park about how angry and sad this has made them. We are asking that whoever is removing the ornaments from the Christmas Tree to please stop. We will be posting a new sign next to the tree to highlight this special tradition.
Patrons are encouraged to use natural materials in the ornaments that are placed on the tree. Take a selfie and post on our MacGregor Facebook page. We want to see our Christmas Tree decorated with memories.
As the temperature gets colder this winter, MacGregor is still open from dawn to dusk. There are many ways to enjoy the park including searching for our Christmas Tree. Not a fan of the Indiana chill? Take a look at the wide assortment of classes in this OWWN guide.!
