The secretary of the West Cork Rural Garda Station Retention Campaign, Margaret Peters, told The Southern Star the community representatives share ‘a common concern’ over the ongoing erosion of vital services throughout West Cork. She said the ‘threat’ was serious enough to attract representatives from the Small Schools Campaign; the Garda Retention Campaign; rural transport; the ambulance services; the community hospitals; the Post Offices; the IFA and the GAA; as well as community councils; community alert groups; and the Citizens Advice Bureau.
