As we slip into September and Autumn, it is great to still see so many locals and visitors alike out enjoying our magnificent land and seascape – walking our beaches and hills, hiking the Dingle Way, cycling, golfing, horse-riding, swimming (yes – the water is so warm at the moment!), kayaking, windsurfing, stand-up paddle-boarding, sailing, diving, surfing, fishing, kitesurfing and of course, all the wonderful boat trips – eco, Fungi and tours out and around the Blasket Islands - (make sure to get your visit in to the Great Blasket before the ferries finish in a few weeks’ time). Also, as we know, our attractions are fantastic experiences too with many still open for the next few months including – Dingle Oceanworld, Ionad an Bhlascaoid, Hold a Baby Lamb and Beehives, Pet and Eco Farms, heritage and archaeology sites, breweries and distillery, topped off with great food, craft and retail! With time and pace slowing down, we may get to enjoy what our visitors have been enjoying over the last few months too……. And hopefully, welcome the reopening of our pubs soon - #DinglePeninsulaMissesYou That’s the promotional piece completed but seriously, the feedback from visitors, both far and wide across Ireland, is how our businesses and communities created such a welcoming and safe holiday experience here across the peninsula, allowing so many to have a wonderful 2020 “staycation”. It is truly testament to the quality and creativity of our local businesses – fair play to everyone to date! As we have seen in recent weeks with local lockdowns, we must remember that we are still living with Covid-19! We must still manage our social distancing which is challenging at times and we must continue to ask everyone to be mindful of our community by practicing safe social distancing, safe coughing etiquette, washing your hands regularly and wearing your face mask indoors and in queues. Also, with continued reduced capacity and space this autumn for pubs serving food, restaurants, cafes, activities, attractions and accommodation, pre-bookings and reservations are still advised in advance to avoid disappointment. Please avoid crowded areas and gatherings in the interests of your safety and well-being and the safety and wellbeing of our community. We would ask everyone to please NOT litter and bring your rubbish home with you – please Leave No Trace. Promotional Updates The Dingle Peninsula Autumn / Winter Open 4 Business brochure is underway and will promote the businesses who are open this autumn and winter season. Dingle Peninsula Tourism Alliance / Comhaontas Turasóireachta Chorca Dhuibhne will also be creating a Dingle Peninsula Special Offers page or the Big E Virtual Market in West Springfield, Western Mass. Please contact Sam ASAP at dinglept@gmail.com to be included - https://www. dinglepeninsula.net/open4business/mobile/ index.html

Funding Supports Update To follow are some important funding updates to be aware of so that you can start applying for – please note key dates and allow plenty of time for applications: • Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme (EWSS) - EWSS is an economy-wide enterprise support that focuses primarily on business eligibility. The scheme provides a flat-rate subsidy to qualifying employers based on the numbers of eligible employees on the employer’s payroll and gross pay to employees. The EWSS replaced the Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme (TWSS) from 1 September 2020. It is expected to continue until 31 March 2021.

• Budget 2020 – Chambers Ireland have been running a series of surveys over the last few months to assess the impact that Covid-19 is having on businesses. Dingle Chamber and Tralee Chamber Alliance are working with Chambers Ireland on lobbying for business supports in this year's Budget. They need your input once again and so have created a new survey: https://www. surveymonkey.com/r/CI_KerrySurvey It looks at issues such as Revenue, HR problems, Invoices, Debts, and the challenges of reopening so please take a little time it complete – it will only take about 5 minutes to do so.

• Covid-19 Credit Guarantee Scheme - Announced as part of the Government’s suite of supports for businesses that have been negatively impacted as a result of the outbreak of COVID-19 in Ireland, the COVID-19 Credit Guarantee Scheme will facilitate up to €2 billion in lending to eligible businesses. The Scheme offers a partial Government guarantee (80%) to participating finance providers against losses on qualifying finance agreements to eligible SMEs, small Mid-Caps and primary producers. It is designed to incentivise participating finance providers to continue to play their role in supporting the availability of additional liquidity to Irish businesses.

And it was all to celebrate the life of a former much loved resident of the site, Jim Clear from Cork on the first anniversary of his death. Jim's family were all there and were overjoyed with such a lovely and fitting tribute to Jim who loved music and drama in life. It was indeed a poignant occasion, joyous while also tinged with sadness for Jims family and many friends. May he Rest In Peace. NEW VENTURE Best of Luck to Sandy Feet Fitness on their new Gym. A new Top Class facility located in Camp offering another great service to the local community. Go néirí an t-adh libh ! OBITUARY Sr. Mary Brendan Herlihy, Holy Family Sister, Knockglossmore, Camp and Tullamore, Co. Offaly and Knock, Co. Mayo passed away peacefully at the Sonas Nursing Home, Knock on August 26th. Removal from the Marian funeral home Knock was on Thursday, August 27th, to the Basilica of Our Lady Queen of Ireland, Knock for Mass at 1 o'clock. Sr. Mary Brendan was laid to rest in Clonminch Cemetery, Tullamore, Co. Offaly. The following eulogy was delivered by Rev. Fr. Gibbons of Sr. Mary Brendans life at her funeral Mass. Sr. Mary Brendan was born into a very staunch Catholic family in Camp, Co. Kerry in the year 1922. She was the eldest of 6 children and attended Camp National School where the Headmaster Jackie Murphy was noted for his educational methods, which went far beyond the standards of the time.

At the age of 14 years, she encountered the Holy Family Sisters and felt attached to join them in their various missions especially in the work of education. At that time the Novitiate was in France and she made the brave and big sacrifice to leave her native home and country. She quickly mastered the French language and eventually returned to England where she trained to be a teacher. She devoted almost 40 years of her working life to teaching in schools in London and Exmouth. She was elected Provincial to the English/Irish Province, a post which she held until her retirement. She then returned to the Ireland to her Community in Tullamore. Mary spent last year in Sonas Nursing

Home Knock where she received great care and was very happy. Sr. Mary Brendans sister Sr. Catherine and her neighbour Sr. Eileen O Donnell (now deceased)followed in her footsteps joining the order in 1938 and Sr. Kathleen O Donnell from Slieve, Camp carries on this great tradition, continuing to work in her ministry with the Holy Family Sisters in England. These Camp women like many many other Irish Missionary nuns deserve a real debt of gratitude for their work with people in need all over our world. They are and did make a difference !

Sr. Mary Brendan is deeply regretted by her religious community, her brother Paud, sister-in-law Maeve, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Sympathy is extended to all.

The news of the death of Eileen Keane (nee Bruton), Aughacasla and Green Acres Caravan Site on Monday, 31st August was received with sadness. Eileen was a lovely lady, we all have great memories of her, her wonderful sense of humour and fun, Polka Set Dancing in Camp School and out with the Biddy fundraising for local charities. Eileen with her husband Tom established Green Acres Caravan Park in Aughacasla in 2011, a very successful tourism venture in the area. And again she made many new friends in Green Acres, who will miss her greatly. On Wednesday morning many neighbours and friends lined the roadside outside her home in Aughacasla and again at the Church and at Killiney Graveyard where she was laid to rest following requiem Mass at St. Marys Church, Castlegregory. Eileen is survived by her husband, Tom, Son, Michael, Daughter in law, Susan, grandchildren Sarah and Michael, brother, Paul, sister, Angela, nieces, nephews, relatives, extended family and many friends to whoom sympathy is extended. Eileen, Rest In Peace.

ANNASCAUL/DINGLE GIRLS FOOTBALL It has been a busy few weeks for the Annascaul/Camp girls who combined with Dingle to play at u 14, u16 and Minor level for this short but hectic season.

The girls from both clubs have shown great commitment to make the games and training and thanks also to the parents who have brought them to the games. The club would also like to thank the Coaches and mentors from the Dingle club who have been fantastic to work with again this year. U 14s, The u 14s are having a great run in the County League, notching up some impressive victories and have reached the final against Currow. They have played Currow twice in the League already and there has only been a kick of a ball between them on both occasions so it should be an exciting final. U 14 Squad : Beibhinn Sheehy, Molly Greaney, Sarah Casey, Ellie Hoare, Mae Griffin, Orlaith Murphy, Leah O'Connor, Orlaith Clifford, Grainne O'Dwyer, Roise Deane, Saoirse Mehigan, Líle Garvey, Hannah Granville, Norah O Driscoll, Ciara Kennedy, Megan Brosnan, Ellie Fitzgerald, Hayley Flaherty, Robin Quinlivan, Ciara Slattery, Ciara Casey and Sinead Murphy. Mentors Jim Garvey, Noreen Flaherty, Mairead Clifford Conor Slattery U 16s. The U 16s rounded off their County League campaign with a game against Kilcummin in Camp last week. The club would like to thank Camp Community Council for facilitating the game. Killcummin were excellent on the night and deserved their victory but our girls settled into the game after a tough start and battled hard to the end. The girls have shown great commitment through the season. Minors : The minors finished off the league campaign with a draw in a thrilling game with Beale/ Ballyduff in Dingle last Friday and now progress to the County Semi Final. It wasn't looking good at half time when we trailed by 5 points to 1. However a super comeback in the second half, including a wonder goal by Emily O Regan, saw our girls get back into the game. A superb Ella Sheehy point saw us go into the lead but Beale/Ballyduff came back to level it.
