“Taking part in Westover’s Community Service Program reminds me there’s a world outside of Westover and that we have a responsibility to help other people. It gives me the opportunity to connect with people from different places and backgrounds. I especially like volunteering with programs that serve children, such as tutoring at local schools.” — ang, senior from jackson heights, ny
Other community service activities have included the Penguin Plunge (shown at left), as well as weekly trips to local nursing homes, food banks, soup kitchens, and after school programs.

Westover provides a moral and ethical education as well as an academic one, developing the hearts and the minds of every student. As an active part of our community each student learns responsibility to self, others, and the world beyond our school. Character education is woven into every aspect of our lives, supported by our nondenominational Chapel Program and a variety of community service offerings and requirements. Because of Westover’s all-girls learning environment, students gain self-knowledge and self-confidence, enabling them to step up and take advantage of numerous leadership opportunities. Equipped with the skills and understanding needed to effect change, students leave Westover a powerful cohort of bold young leaders, able to identify the problems in today’s world—and solve them.
