VISUAL ARTS Improve Your Smartphone Photography Skills

Learn how to use your smartphone to create stunning images. Unleash your artistic potential using the medium which revolutionizes the world of photography. With the guidance of a photographer with over 40 years of experience who recently used a smartphone for part of his professional work, you will learn techniques and composition rules and how to take better nature, portrait and travel pictures. Requirements: The SMARTPHONE launched in 2018 or later with at least two, preferably three lenses.

Lightroom – Basic Organizing and Editing of Your Photos

In the first session you will learn how to download, effectively organize and backup your photos. In the second session, you will have a crash course in basic editing to enhance your photos to make them look stunning. This course is suitable for all photographers, DSLR, MIRRORLESS, and SMARTPHONE camera users are welcome. Requirements: a subscription to Adobe Lightroom and a laptop.

Practical Digital Photography for Beginners

Students will learn crucial camera settings. Technical and artistic components of digital photography will be discussed, demonstrated, and practiced under the instruction of a professional photographer with over 40 years of experience. Enrol to get a solid intro to composition rules, lighting and pro tips for nature, people and travel photography. This course requires a DSLR or MIRRORLESS digital camera released in 2015 or later, preferably with extra lenses.

Pencil Portraits

Learn the basics of drawing a portrait and how to achieve a startling likeness from life or photo. Course includes study of angles, distances, mapping and measuring. Learn the use of values (lights and darks) to define planes of the face.

Watercolours

Beginners will learn about materials, composition, design, colour and medium control and techniques. Experienced watercolourists will be challenged to further their skills. Each session is a paintalong demo of skies, water, snow, trees and mountains. Take home a completed painting at the end.

Pottery Programs

Open Studio Time and Drop In Pottery (10 Visit Pass)

*Registration required* For those with pottery experience who are comfortable working independently in the studio. An attendant will be on duty but instruction is not provided. Only clay purchased through WSPR, and items created in our studio can be fired in our kiln. Orientation is required for new studio users.

Pottery Orientation

An orientation is required for all those who are new to the studio and wish to use the studio for Open Studio Time. Previous pottery experience required.

Beginners Pottery Level 1

Enjoy and explore different throwing and hand building techniques while learning to wedge and center clay on the wheel. This class is for beginners and focuses on making functional pottery such as mugs, bowls, plates and more.

Beginners Pottery Level 2 - Throwing

For beginners who are ready to explore some advanced techniques in the studio. Enjoy and learn advanced throwing techniques from our skilled pottery instructor, Esther Drone.

Beginners Pottery Level 3 - Throwing

For beginners to intermediate potters who would like to explore advanced techniques and new skills on the wheel. Enjoy and learn advanced throwing techniques from our skilled pottery instructor, Esther Drone.

Pottery - Christmas Gifts

Personalize your Christmas by making your own pottery and clay ornaments. Create functional and decorative projects such as bowls, mugs, candle holders and tree ornaments-great gifts for giving!

Pottery Night

Join us for two creative evenings where you will explore different throwing techniques. This two-class workshop is designed for beginners, and you will create at least two items to take home. Total course fee includes all materials.

Pottery Night – Holiday Time!

*Choose between the following workshop themes – Cookie Plate and Ornaments, House Candle Holder and Ornaments Holiday special! Looking for a unique date night or friend’s night out?

Join us for two creative evenings where you will explore different pottery techniques while enjoying good company. This class is designed for beginners. Total course fee includes all materials. *A maximum of 15 ornaments can me produced at these workshops.

Private and Semi-Private Pottery Lessons and Workshops
