ASPIRING ARTISTS ART STUDIO

Unleash your creativity! We offer quality art classes, workshops, and camps for kids, teens, and families. With small class sizes for personalized instruction, the art studio is a place where kids and youth are encouraged to be creative and curious while also learning how to properly use tools, work with a variety of art mediums, acquire artistic vocabulary, and gain an age appropriate understanding of the history of art and artists.

Our knowledgeable instructor engages students in exciting and challenging projects that grow artistic skills and let each artist's uniqueness shine through. We believe that art is for everyone, and offer positive encouraging studio experiences suitable for all ages, levels of experience, and interests.

We can create a workshop tailored just for you and your family, build a home learners art course or field trips for schools, daycares, Guides, Scouts and more! Performing Arts

Ballet and Jazz

6-9 Years

We will focus on beginner to intermediate ballet techniques and posture both on the bar and across the floor. Students will also build confidence and knowledge in jazz styled dance, completing a fun and creative choreographed routine.

Hip Hop

5-7 Years and 7-11 Years

High energy, funky music and fun choreography are sure to please in this dynamic class. Students will sample a few of the many diverse styles of hip hop and will build on basic technique and a choreographed routine.

MUSIC INSTRUMENTS-GROUP CLASSES

Piano

7-12 Years

A creative fun approach to learning about music and the keyboard while developing good technique, rhythm and basic note reading and composing skills. Each class is tailored to the needs of different age groups. Total course fee includes a $10 fee for course song book.

Semi-Private Piano

6-12 Years

Want more attention in your piano lessons? This semi-private lesson will give you all the tips and tricks you need to play beautifully. Total course fee includes a $10 fee for the song book.

NEW! Ukulele and Singing

7-9 Years

Sing and strum in this fun and interactive music class. Participants will learn basic notes and ukulele chords and will be able to play basic songs for friends and family by the end of the course.

Guitar

7-12 Years

Guitar instruction in a fun class setting. Introduction will cover reading music (standard Notation and TAB), tuning methods, basic chords and finger strengthening exercises that will give students the tools to play simple songs from rock to classical.

NEW! Rock Band

7-12 Years

Young rockers rotate on drums, electric guitar, and keyboard for a unique experience combining instruments, theory, singing, ensemble performance and rock 'n' roll fantasy. Easy-to-play songs allow immediate access to performing in a rock band. Instruments provided; no additional practice required.

NEW! Equity Across the Board Skatepark ½ day Workshops

8-11 Years & 12-14 Years

Always wanted to learn to skateboard? Join us at the NEW Thrifty Foods Skatepark at West Shore Parks & Recreation. These half day Workshops is for new skateboarders. Lead by certified skateboarding instructors. Learn the basics, warming up/ stretching, foot placement, balance, push, turn, stop and how to fall. Participants will participate in skateboard games that enhance skill development, learn about equipment and maintenance, skatepark safety, etiquette, and adaptations.

Funding for this program has been made possible by the Government of Canada through the Community Sport for All Initiative and the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association. Removing barriers and increasing sport participation for underrepresented populations.

ENGINEERING FOR KIDS: Homeschoolers - Engineering 101

What exactly do engineers do? In this class, we’ll explore different engineering disciplines like aerospace, mechanical, electrical, and more! Each week, we’ll put on our thinking caps and use the EFK Engineering Design Process to brainstorm, design, and build creative solutions to real-world engineering problems.

How do planes stay in the air? How do rockets get to the moon and beyond? Using the Engineering Design Process, our young aerospace engineers will work in teams to design, build, and test a variety of flying machines. Make rockets to launch into space, your own flying kites, hot air balloons, and more! Join us to take to the skies!

ENGINEERING FOR KIDS:

Robotics 101 with LEGO® EV3 Robotics

8-12 Years

Using LEGO Mindstorms EV3s and working in pairs, learn how to build and program a robot to hit a ball, navigate a track using a light sensor, sumo wrestle another robot, and more! A great introduction to the world of robotics.

Jr. Marine Engineering

5-7 Years

What causes something to sink or float? How can engineers help explore and protect the ocean? These questions and more are all explored in Junior Marine. In this class, our young engineers explore the concepts of marine engineering and mechanics, harnessing the power of water, and discovering designs that help us make the impossible, possible.
