4 reasons to join a small group: 1.
We are made for them. God has made us to be in relationship with each other - none of us are intended to do life and faith alone. When we have real connections that enable us to know and be known - love and be loved, we are meeting a central need that God has given us.
2.
Build meaningful friendships. Having friends at church is the number one factor in keeping people involved in a local church like Westwood. Small groups are the best way to build spiritual friendships that help us to grow in faith.
3.
The Church has always been about them! In Acts 5 it says that the early church met together in the temple courts for worship, and then from house to house to keep it going. We seek to emulate this model— meeting for worship on the weekends on our campus, and then breaking out into homes, coffee shops and restaurants to encourage and bless each other. Small groups are mini–extensions of Westwood into the community, neighborhoods and lives.
4.
We grow with each other. Small groups are a place for people to talk deeply about the journey of faith, learn about God's best for us through the Bible, and pray for, and support one another along the way.

Westwood services are dynamic and inspiring. As we express our worship to God, the music is celebratory though the style is varied. All our services feature thought-provoking messages that present biblical truth that you can apply to your life. The message is the same at all services.

Current Sermon series 2nd Chance God April 26 & 27–June 14 & 15 Have you ever felt like you needed a second chance with God? Do you feel like you’ve blown it in your walk with God, made choices that you don’t see how He could forgive? Or perhaps tragedy in your life has led you to conclude God is far away and distant. Have you avoided God because of the distance you feel? Have you, one step at a time, drifted away from God and wonder if He wants you back? If any of these scenarios are true in your life, or if you know someone else who is far from God, a post-Easter sermon series, “Second Chance God” will bring hope and help to move forward in your relationship with the God of Abraham, Isaac and second chances! Looking at both Old Testament and New Testament stories and scriptures, Pastor Joel and Westwood pastors will show us that, like the Father of the Prodigal Son, God is waiting to welcome back, with open arms, those who are far from Him. At some point, everyone needs a second chance. Learn about yours at this 8-week series beginning April 26 and 27.

Essentials: A Deep Dive Into the Core Beliefs of the Christian Faith Class in session, next session in the fall.
Essentials discusses the central beliefs/doctrines of Christian faith in depth. Essentials is also a great next step if you have gone through Alpha or Lifekeys. We will cover topics like the inspiration of Scripture, the Trinity, salvation, the church and more. Alpha
The Alpha course is 12-weeks, meeting once per week on Tuesdays and one amazing Saturday. Next session in the fall. The Alpha course provides opportunities to explore ways to grow in your faith–reading your Bible, praying, and sharing your faith. At each session, people enjoy great food, laughter and learning in a relaxed and friendly setting. No question about life or God is seen as too simple or too difficult. Questions like “Is there a God?” or “Am I going to heaven?” are explored. Learn how to answer your friend’s doubts or questions about God at Alpha. If you have hit a plateau in your faith, are going through tough times, or questioning your faith, then come to Alpha. We look forward to seeing you.
In this 12-week course, we will work through the book, Even Better After 50—How to Become (and remain) WELL of Body, WISE of Mind, and WHOLE of Spirit in the Second Half of Life by Richard P. Johnson, PH.D. We will learn together the 12 fundamental competencies of how to live optimally...how to be your best...how to live fully in your 50s, 60s and beyond! Cost: $15 (book), $10 (workbook). Materials available the first night of class. *Register online. INFO: Kim Hanson, 952.224.7318, Kim.Hanson@westwoodcc.org

Summer happenings for kids and students Ah, the lazy, hazy days of summer when school is out
and things slow down to a crawl… No way! Things are just starting to heat up at Westwood for kids and students. Faith, fun and fellowship look awesome as the calendar flips to summer. Some of the best memories of the year are made during the summer. Don’t take my word for it—check out these great testimonials: “Vacation Bible School is my favorite–we get to learn stuff about who Jesus is and what He did for us, which is for everybody. I love the songs, funny shows, crafts and games. Everyone should come!” –Aiden, age 7
“Colorado for me was more than just a summer trip with some friends. It was a personal encounter with God. During the week, we focused on branding our bold belief, and being bold in Christ. These are things I will keep with me for the rest of my life!” –Matt V. There is simply no denying the potential for Kingdom impact during summer activities! God’s got BIG plans for summer around here for our next generation. Don’t miss out—get a complete list and description for events for kids and students on pages 4–7. Two important dates to note are 5th Grade Celebration on June 1 and Promotion weekend on June 7 & 8.
“On the final night of Hype each year, students are given a chance to express how God worked in their life during the week. Last year, we witnessed over 40 students express a deep learning experience at Hype. Many of them suggested God revealed areas in their life they need to hand over to God. Others said they accepted Christ for the first time. Overall, students proved to have experienced a personal encounter with God.” –Jordan Pardee, Grades 6–8 Associate
JUNE 16–19
Ages 4–grade 4
