Weekend Services Worship Services Westwood services are dynamic and inspiring. As we express our worship to God, the music is celebratory though the style is varied. At our morning services (8:30, 9:45 and 11:05) you’ll experience a blend of updated traditional hymns, along with the songs of today. At our 5:00 Saturday and Sunday evening ELEMENTS services, the environment is relaxed and the music is a blend of soulful songs that are both relevant and reverent. All our services feature thought-provoking messages that present biblical truth that you can apply to your life.

Students

Children

Westwood’s Student Ministry nurtures students in grades 6-12 to experience a dynamic love relationship with Jesus Christ. Our professional and volunteer staff model the journey of faith and life in Christ and encourage the students to journey further in their own relationships with God. Students are free to ask questions, challenge answers and experience God personally and honestly.

Westwood is a great place to be a kid! It’s a place where kids begin to discover their great big God and the world He created for them. A place where faith, learning and imagination go hand in hand. Faith comes alive as kids experience age-specific learning through exciting story-telling that is biblically-based, interactive music that gets kids moving and hands-on crafts that reinforce key Bible concepts!

WESTWOOD COMMUNITY CHURCH Purpose Statement Vision Statement

Values

The purpose of Westwood Community Church is to honor God by enjoying Him through reaching people with the love of Jesus Christ.

Our purpose and vision exist because:

We demonstrate God’s love in creative and compelling ways that lead people to know God, worship Him authentically, grow spiritually, serve joyfully and connect relationally. We are a community with open hands, receiving from God all He wants to give, believing He wants to give us a lot. And with open hands we give it away, believing we cannot out-give God.

We love God with all that we are, have and do. We love all people because all people matter to God.

We are a community where singles can experience God’s love and grow in their faith, while developing friendships and supporting each other. Subscribe to the Singles Newsletter, (see Online Resources on page 27 for more information) and participate in the exciting events we have going on!

At Westwood we believe that baptism is for everyone who believes in Christ and has chosen to follow Him. Baptism is a time of celebration! In baptism, people express faith in Christ and publicly acknowledge their commitment to Him. Baptism symbolizes the believer’s union with Christ, spiritual cleansing and forgiveness, and promised resurrection into eternal life. Westwood celebrates baptism together in community in June and September at area lakes as well as periodic occasions in our Worship Center. Classes are offered prior to the summer and fall baptism services.

Grow Spiritually Ministry Facilitates a Fall, Winter and Spring book study. The focus for the studies is upward relationship with our Lord and Savior, outward in our relationship with others and inward with our self-growth and improvement.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Westwood seeks to demonstrate the love of Christ to increase hope in response to the changes and challenges of life. It’s our joy to provide pastoral care of a spiritual nature to individuals, couples or families from within the Westwood congregation. If assistance is needed beyond the scope of pastoral care, referrals are provided to professional Christian counselors. The pastors of Westwood are available for crisis needs and for those needing spiritual assistance. Hospital visits, anointing with oil for healing, and prayer are all ministries available through our pastors. The Safety Team meets Westwood’s desire to provide a safe, secure and peaceful place of worship for the followers of Christ.

Through this 24-hour prayer event, we will honor God and unite as a church to pray for each other, for the direction of our church and needs in our community and world. We asked Pastor Joel, “Why is this so important?” His reply: “God calls us to pray. When we pray: We become aware of His presence and provision for our needs We unite together around His plans He leads us so that we know what to do, what to say, and how to be in life. We see love restored, joy released, peace renewed. We have needs met, relations enriched, depression lifted Lives change for the better.”

Sign up for a 30-minute segment. A prayer resource will be available to guide you through your prayer time. Sign Up! Go to: www.westwoodcc.org/Pages/Resources/PrayAroundTheClock

This small group Bible study meets at Westwood on Thursday evenings as we begin a new study of the book of Hebrews. This important, but rarely studied book of the Bible, explains how our Christian faith is rooted in the faith of the patriarchs. Come join us as we travel to ancient lands and customs to discover the God who never changes. No cost or registration. No curriculum. Just show up with your Bible and be prepared to hear God’s Word. If you don’t have a Bible, come anyway. We will take care of that.
