Picture the Possibilities Throughout the month of November, the possibilities of our unfinished space will be shared in detail. Be our guest in the unfinished space at one of two open houses (following all services on Nov 16 & 17 and Nov 23 & 24). Learn how this space and future multi-site campuses will help us reach our neighbors with the love of Christ. Wear your coat because when we say unfinished–we mean it!

Exhilaration
December Sermon Series Christmas is a time for music. It’s always been that way—the events of the birth of Jesus have inspired the simple carols of the church all the way to the great high church music of Handel and Bach. But it goes back even further, to Jesus’ birth itself. Pastor Joel Johnson’s Christmas series is entitled, “Exhilaration” and begins with a three-week look at the joyful songs of Christmas; Mary’s song, Zechariah’s song and Simeon’s song. The fourth message in the series is on “The Star of Wonder,” examining this wondrous celestial event that foretold the birth of the Messiah. At all our Christmas Eve services, Pastor Joel will unpack the angel’s exhilarating words recorded in Luke 2:11-12 simple words that still exhilarate today: “A Savior has been born to you. He is Christ the Lord.” Don’t miss “Exhilaration” and share the joy with an invitation to a friend or neighbor this Christmas season.

Boost (grades 6–8) 6:45–8:00pm Middle school students gather to have fun, explore faith and engage in small group conversation about the message each week. *Register online.

Wednesday Nights are electric here this fall! Our lower level in Building A is swamped with students on Wednesday. We have seen growth in Boost as our middle school students have invited friends, packed cars and arrive excited to be here. They say this about why they choose Boost: “It’s fun!” “I want to learn about God” and “I love Jesus!” At 8:00pm, approximately 300 middle school students exit and more than 250 high school students arrive to attend En Route or Upper Room. Our 9th grade class this year is strong in attendance and they are loving their journey through Scripture. En Route’s band is rocking with students singing their hearts out to God, and the messages are challenging them to be bold in faith. If you want a peek at an exciting ministry, just ask a student or leader how they’ve seen God move this fall. He is revealing His wonder to us and we can see it each week here. If you are a student in grades 6–12, come experience a Wednesday night with us!
En Route (grades 10–12) 8:00–9:30pm Each week includes worship, a message and small group connection. *Register online. INFO: Pam Schwarz, 952.224.7362, pam.schwarz@westwoodcc.org
Sundays AM We invite students to trust Jesus and to experience life in all of its fullness. Join us on Sundays at 11:05!
Xchange (grades 6–8) 11:05am, Room A112 We worship together, participate in discussion groups with caring adult leaders, play games & mixers to get moving, and hear a message related to middle school students. Students, bring your Bibles!

Classes: Wellspring Leadership Development Leading for Results: Ministry and Life Sunday, Dec 8, 9:45am, Prairie Room Engaging results in the context of ministry and personal life can be a complicated thing. As we minister in church, and as we live our lives, we actively lean on and depend on God and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. How do we measure what God is doing in and through us in a way that is effective, appropriate and motivational–while not creating unnecessary expectations and pressures? When navigated correctly, assessing results can accomplish all these things well. Come to engage and discuss this topic together in this course provided by Westwood’s Wellspring Ministry to leaders: Pastor Brian Suter will lead this discussion sharing principles and questions to weigh together. *Register online.

SERVE ON SATURDAY
Next S.O.S. date is Saturday, Jan 25 Last month, 132 S.O.S. volunteers blessed the community through several initiatives. Over 3,400 sandwiches were made to feed Twin City homeless, and 100 individuals were clothed through our collection drive. Additionally, many friendships were formed and God was glorified. Thank you to all who participated. INFO: Lynn Carlson, carlsonlynn@yahoo.com 952.470.5763
I participated in S.O.S. and served at Cornerstone, a women/children’s transitional home for Domestic Abuse victims and children. I painted the nails of a woman who hadn’t had her nails done in years. As we finished, she started to tear up...she said she hadn’t felt this good about herself in years. I painted a cross on her one nail and said if she felt abandoned to look at this reminder. God makes a way for all of us to heal! –Bonnie Roy, SOS Volunteer
This small group is designed for couples and singles ages 50–65 of the Mature Generation, a new ministry developing at Westwood. The group will start a study of The Parables of Jesus and will seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance for the vision of the Mature Generation. I received a booklet entitled, Surviving the Holidays. It contained practical direction and guidance. I realized I was not alone and that God was an ever-present hope in times of trouble and loneliness.”

Baptism
At Westwood we believe that baptism is for everyone who believes in Christ and has chosen to follow Him. Baptism is a time of celebration! In baptism, people express faith in Christ and publicly acknowledge their commitment to Him. Baptism symbolizes the believer’s union with Christ, spiritual cleansing and forgiveness, and promised resurrection into eternal life. Westwood celebrates baptism together in community in June and September at area lakes as well as periodic occasions in our Worship Center. Classes are offered prior to the summer and fall baptism services. INFO: Sabrina Downey, 952.224.7314, baptism@westwoodcc.org
