Students

Children

Westwood’s Student Ministry plays a critical role in nurturing students in grades 6-12 to experience a dynamic love relationship with Jesus Christ. We accept students where they are—we’re motivated to reach out to students with the same eagerness God has in reaching out to us—no strings attached! Our professional and volunteer staff model the journey of faith and life in Christ and encourage the students to journey further in their own relationships with God, understanding that each student is in a unique place. Students are free to ask questions, challenge answers and experience God personally and honestly.

Westwood is a great place to be a kid! It’s a place where kids begin to discover their great big God and the world He created for them. A place where faith, learning and imagination go hand in hand. Faith comes alive as kids experience age-specific learning through exciting story-telling that is biblically-based, interactive music that gets kids moving and hands-on crafts that reinforce key Bible concepts!

October 4, 11, 18 and 25 So Pray In New Ways (Class)

In a survey of Westwood attenders, the number one felt need was to learn how to pray. Prayer is one of the most valuable assets we have as God’s people. D.L. Moody said, “Every great movement of God can be traced to a kneeling figure.” But kneeling in prayer sometimes is hard, boring or seemingly non-effective. Sometimes we wonder where is the movement of God when we pray? God wants us to seek Him in prayer and to experience His movement in our lives. Ultimately prayer works because we are connecting to the God who holds the power and the answers. This fall, through a 10-week message series, prayer events and experiences, we will take away some of the mystery that keeps us from praying and put some of the joy back into it! As you participate, you will grow in your understanding and practice of prayer. So learn, so experience, so pray!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” OCTOBER 2012

Jeremiah 29:11-13

Do you desire encouragement or support in your personal prayer life? Join us Thursday evenings (7:00-8:30) in October to experience prayer around topics that impact our intimacy with God and give examples of how to pray in simple, yet meaningful, ways. Includes biblical teachings and guided experiences of personal prayer. *Register online. October 6 So Pray On Saturday (Event) Want to get closer to God? So Pray! Want to make a difference in your neighborhood, school, community and the world around you? So Pray! Join together with Westwood folks of all ages for a morning (10:00-11:30am) filled with creative and meaningful ways to connect with God as we unite around prayer through the So Pray message series. We’ll begin with a musical Concert of Prayer followed by a breakout Session on the Lord’s Prayer; one track for families and kids, and a second track for adults. We’ll conclude by coming back together as people of all ages lead in prayer for our community, schools, government leaders and world. Designed for people of all ages, regardless of your experience level with prayer, this event will help you take a next step in your journey of prayer. Join us! *Register online. INFO: Danise McMillen, danise.mcmillen@westwoodcc.org, 952-224-7342

November 16–17 So Pray Around the Clock (Event)

A room at the church will be dedicated to 24 hours of prayer by the body at Westwood. Sign up for 30 minutes and, together, we’ll saturate prayer for individual needs, for Westwood and for the world. A resource that includes Scripture, space to listen to God and suggestions on ways to pray and what to pray about will guide your prayer experience. There’s power in prayer! *Online registration available in mid-October.

The purpose of the Worship Arts ministry is to grow the believer and reach the unbeliever. We exist to honor God and enjoy Him through the expression of lay artists in teams who use their gifts and talents to reach others with the love of Jesus Christ.

We want to encourage women to know God personally, to worship Him authentically, to connect relationally, to grow spiritually and to serve joyfully. INFO: Kim Hanson, 612-247-6709, kim82457@aol.com
