Our partnership with America’s Boating Club
The Yacht Club had recently hooked up with America’s Boating Club to provide a series of boating courses exclusively to Wexford Members. After the smashing success of our pilot program (we had 25 Wexford members participate in the Partner in Command course conducted in April), we have decided to offer a continuing program of new courses and do them about every two months. Courses have been developed by America’s Boating Club, and they are part of an overall boating certification program that has been instructing boaters for decades. Courses include piloting, navigation, boat handling, Rules of the Road, safety, maintenance, and a variety of other boating topics. Courses run about 2 hours each and will be scheduled evenings, or perhaps on weekends.
Watch future e-blasts for course content, times, and dates, and take advantage of this great FREE opportunity to benefit yourself!
Planning Ahead: Lock Refurbishment
Every 10 years, the entire lock system requires refurbishment. Planned to start in January 2024 and last about 2 months, the lock will be closed, doors removed and refurbished, and hydraulics serviced including pump motors and lines.
During the refurbishment, passage through the lock will be available. If you think you may use your boat during this period please start making plans now to relocate your boat for when the lock is closed. Nearby marinas are fairly full now, so the earlier you start your search the better. Mark in the Harbour Center may be able to assist you with this, but keep in mind, boating interest is at an all-time high, and slips and docks are somewhat scarce.
get the hour or so boat ride on the water, then back for lunch. They’ll (You’ll) be done by early afternoon.
The date this year is Wednesday, August 2nd.
Please contact Mark in the Harbour Center to volunteer your time and boat for this great cause. You’ll have as much fun as the kids do!
