Reflections of Yesteryear at Midale
Watching the grain from old-time threshing bee

A pair of boys had a look inside the grain wagon as the harvested grain poured in from a Case threshing machine, during a live demonstration of threshing as it was done a century ago in this area, at Midale’s 52nd annual Pioneer Echoes celebration on Saturday afternoon. The thresher was powered by a belt hooked onto a John Deere tractor, while a second tractor powered a baler that compacted the hay produced by the thresher.

Sean Clarke of Bengough had a hard ride on “Hell’s Nightmare”, during the 12th annual Bull Bash at Midale on Friday evening, but he was able to hang on long enough to record a score of 66 points. He was one of only two riders in the first round of rides to record a score. Bullriders from throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba competed for top prize money and for points in the bullriding standings.
