Pangman Charity Farms has harvest for Pangman School
By Debra Kessler, 306-442-4201 Pangman — A great turnout of volunteers made the job easier in helping combine the durum field for the Charity Farms on Sept. 11. The Ogema Royal Bank brought out pizza for their dinner and the FCC supplied the supper. After 11 years and over $500,000 raised, the Charity Farms finished off its last harvest. The funds raised were for the school and Community Kitchen. The Pangman dance club will be holding their annual bottle drive on Saturday, Oct. 13, starting at 9 a.m. Please leave your bottles out by your home. The Pangman Co-op customer appreciation day
was held on Sept. 26 at the Pangman Community Centre. Residents joined the staff for hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks in appreciation for their support over the past year. SaskTel held a town hall meeting on Sept. 26. The topic was the proposed SaskTel telecommunications facility upgrade. The meeting was held at the Community Centre. Stewart Kessler and Robin Larson were at Radville Marian Home to visit their mom Debbie Kessler and their grandmother Vi Kessler on Sept. 12. Visiting with Tom, Stewart and Boyd Kessler on Sept 18 was Tom Branford from Regina. Tom grew up in Pangman.

eight pounds nine ounces. He is a little brother for Cooper and a grandson for Joe and Tracy Beckstead. Bob Blohm is recovering in the Fillmore Health Centre after undergoing
heart surgery in Regina recently. Marvin Chambers is home after having knee surgery. Roxy Johnston is back in her residence in Weyburn after a fall requiring hip surgery in Regina.
Denise Morris of Powell River, B.C., spent a week recently visiting her parents, Herb and Elaine Morris. Former Fillmore area resident John Biskup of Regina passed away on
Sept. 11 at age 71. Corry (Pollock) Desjarlais, who has been a resident in Fillmore Health Centre for several years, passed away on Sept. 17 at age 48.
Yellow Grass School starts the school year with busy schedule By Betty Guest, 306-465-2876 Yellow Grass — The Yellow Grass School year is in full swing. The staff includes principal Tyson O’Dell, and teachers Rebecca Bowerin, Tricia Klemenz, Shelby Van De Woestyne, Jenna Styre, Meaghan Andrew, Jane Peters, Dellice Saxby, Leah Watson and Jodi Tronson. The administrative assistant is Carol Irvine, and education assistants are Lynn Fawcett, Robyn Byrns and Johanna Tiefenbach. The library tech is Betty Guest, caretaker is Carrie Moore, bus drivers are Janet Guest, Helen Sydorko and Dag Boesgaard, the speech-language pathologist is Amy Burton, school counselor is Twyla Kot and career development counselor is
Pat Podjan. The school is taking orders for YGS school clothing. This includes T-shirts, hoodies and sweatpants, and are available in youth and adult sizes. Payment is due by Friday, Sept. 28. For more information, contact the school at 306-465-2500. The school held their Terry Fox school run on Thursday. Rather than having pledge sheets, they asked participants to contribute a loonie or a toonie towards the Terry Fox Foundation. The annual magazine fundraiser for Grades 7-12 kicked off on Sept. 17, with the goal to sell 200 items. Money raised will be used to run SRC-related events. Orange Shirt day will be recognized at the school on Sept. 28, in honour of and reconciliation for those who attended
residential schools. Picture day for Yellow Grass School will be held in the school gym on Friday, Oct. 5, starting at 9 a.m. Retake day will be on Monday, Oct. 29. No classes will be held on Monday, Oct. 8, for the Thanksgiving holiday, and there are no classes on Friday, Oct. 12, as this is professional development day. An open house was held on Sept. 13 at Yellow Grass School, and was a great success. The School Community Council provided beef on a bun, chips and ice cream for $2 a person. All families attending were entitled to enter a draw for student clothing. There were small teacherled sessions, explaining some of the programs used at the school. The sessions included Jump Math, which is a
Grade 1/2 math program; the Seesaw app for kindergarten and Grades 5-10; class Dojo, for Gr. 1-4; and the Online Class Exploration for Gr. 10-12 online students. Families were also encouraged to meet the teachers, take a tour of the school and view some of the upgrades. Lone Wilkinson, formerly of Yellow Grass, passed away on Sept. 4 at the age of 89 years. A service of remembrance was held on Sept. 22 from Grace United Church in Weyburn. Rev. M. Barnabas officiated, and interment will be held at a later date.
