CHRISTMAS HONK AROUND PARADE Dec 19th, 10:30am assemble at the Rec Centre We are working out the details but anyone wanting to decorate their vehicle and themselves to join in this Christmas Encouragement Honk Around, please contact Barb Tait 651-7723 Everyone will need to remain in their vehicles which are composed of individuals from your household bubble. Please have your masks on if you are interacting with anyone else and respecting social distancing. We will be doing a similar route as our Canada Day Honk Around, with the possibility of an addition. With that in mind have a full tank of gas in your car. This is also an opportunity for those watching the honk around to do up some posters to express your gratitude to our first responders that we hope will be part of the drive around. We are hoping to have the jolly man in Red & White to make an appearance but he is very busy this time of year, so we have our fingers crossed, he'll be able to fit us into his scheduleđ&#x;Ž…

Hello Everyone, Atlin RCMP will again be decorating and lighting a holiday tree out front of the Detachment this coming week. Please feel free to add your own decorations to the tree any time. It can be something you have made yourself, a dedication to a loved one, decorations you do not need any more or to wish the year 2020 a farewell. The more on the tree the better it will look. Please respect the current Health Restrictions and keep your distance should anyone else be at the location. The season for the annual Holiday Check Stop campaign is approaching! Check Stops will be held set up at various locations in Atlin as well as conducting mobile enforcement throughout the month of December and into the New Year as part of an enhanced effort to get impaired drivers off the road. The primary goal of the Check Stop program is to locate and apprehend impaired drivers due to the significant risk to public safety they pose, but police will also be checking for valid documentation including driver’s licenses, vehicle registration and insurance as well as equipment, liquor and other violations. Atlin RCMP are reminding motorists never to drink and drive and anyone who observes a suspected impaired driver are encouraged to call Police immediately if it is safe to do so. All drivers charged with impaired driving will have their license suspended until the charge is resolved in court. The vehicle will be seized, towed and stored from three days to thirty days. All costs associated to licensing, towing and storage will be the responsibility of the driver and/or the registered owner. These costs can easily run into the thousands of dollars. If you are going to consume any alcohol beverages, plan ahead for a safe ride home. Designate a sober driver (who does not drink any alcohol), call a friend or family member or contact a drive- home service, also advertised in this paper. We wish everyone a safe Holiday and New Year. Please respect the current Health Restrictions and be respectful toward others during the Holiday Season and into the New Year.

Minstrels

By William Wordsworth

The minstrels played their Christmas tune To-night beneath my cottage-eaves; While, smitten by a lofty moon, The encircling laurels, thick with leaves, Gave back a rich and dazzling sheen, That overpowered their natural green. Through hill and valley every breeze Had sunk to rest with folded wings: Keen was the air, but could not freeze, Nor check, the music of the strings; So stout and hardy were the band That scraped the chords with strenuous hand. And who but listened?—till was paid Respect to every inmate's claim, The greeting given, the music played In honour of each household name, Duly pronounced with lusty call, And "Merry Christmas" wished to all.
