Whitehorse Planter Boxes Planter boxes full of beautiful flowers are placed all around the downtown core every summer and businesses have an opportunity to purchase a box which they can advertise on (4 sides) or place outside of their workplace. The event will be held from May 30 -­‐ June 7 Across the Territory. The goal of the event is to encourage Yukoners to explore the territory’s local tourism businesses, aJrac:ons and Visitor Informa:on Centres. We want to remind Yukoners how fantas:c their home is and to showcase aJrac:ons across the territory with the hopes of crea:ng local tourism ambassadors. Tourism Yukon will also be running a contest at Visitor Informa:on Centres where Yukon residents can enter a draw to win a digital camera and Tourism Yukon swag. Here’s where you come in: We would like to invite your business, museum or aJrac:on to par:cipate by offering an incen:ve to Yukoners from May 30 to June 7. The special you offer is up to you. Have you experienced "flow"? Engagement, also known as "flow" is the state of being so totally absorbed in what you are doing that you "lose yourself" in the activity. Have you found yourself losing track of time? Does the activity seem effortless, even though your are totally focussed on the activity? Flow is most likely to happen when you are applying your greatest strengths and talents to accomplish something that is worthwhile and difficult but possible. If the activity is too challenging, or too easy, it doesn't engage us in the same way -we get frustrated or bored. Using our strengths and talents has many benefits. Research has shown that we are more energetic, perform better, and are more likely to achieve our goals when we use our character strengths. These strengths make us who we are. We experience flow when we tap into our strengths -- whether that strength is creativity or bravery or kindness or humour or spirituality. Here are some ideas for how to increase flow experiences: • • •

Notice when you are in flow and make time to do more of this. Do what you love to do, and are good at. Know your top 5 character strengths. Take a free on-line test to discover your character strengths. Use your top 5 character strengths every day. Use them in new ways or in new situations. Take on new challenges.
