3 award winning CDs, named Jazz Violinist of the Year (National Jazz Awards) and Solo Instrumentalist and Producer of the Year (Canadian Folk Music Awards).
Anne Lindsay has played on hundreds of recordings and is a featured performer with Jim Cuddy, Blue Rodeo, The Skydiggers and John McDermott. She was the resident fiddler for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the stage production of The Lord of the Rings and is an exuberant fireplug of a session player-to-the-stars (Led Zeppelin, The Chieftains, Blue Rodeo, James Taylor, Roger Daltrey).
Her new CD, SOLOWORKS consists of 13 solo’s performed, on violin, voice, piano and nyckelharpa. From toe tapping fiddle tunes to lyrical ballads, SOLOWORKS is a major artistic accomplishment, and a personal triumph.

RE: Update on Lease agreement and turning off the heat for Globe Theatre
I am announcing, after much deliberation the Atlin Historical Society and myself Heather Keny of Explore Atlin have come to a mutual agreement to extend my current lease agreement for programing of the Globe Theatre till September 30, 2023.
I have been advised from Atlin Historical Society “plan will be to shut the theatre down for the winter months” this is referring to the heat will be shut off.

‘This is the City. I Work Here. I’m a Musician.’
by Paul Lucas“Ladies and Gentlemen, the stories you are about to hear are true. The names have not been changed - the perpetrators being guilty of all charges.”
ROBERT SERVICE LIVES
Madam Jan’s Goldpanning Camp
Liarsville, AK. I slung the little Flatiron mandolin over my shoulder and jammed my hat on my head. It was one of two wide brimmed cowboy hats I owned; the other one, I had left lying on the floor of my Honda Civic minutes before. Its hours were numbered because it was about to meet Bertie the bear … yes the bear from our previous tale, the one in the passenger seat of my car … the bear of ice cream and slobber fame.
In addition to the cowboy hat, I was also wearing a particular ‘musical hat’ this morning - Old Time Fiddle Music. While my main gig was running the Jazz jam sessions at the Red Onion, I had the opportunity to stretch out and try new things every now and then, and this was one of them. This music comes from a long tradition, a lot of it originating in the British Isles. The tunes are challenging, fun, and I got to play mandolin along with acoustic guitar.
The whole thing took place at Madam Jan’s Goldpanning Camp in Liarsville - a historic tent city on the Skagway River a couple of miles north of the Red Onion Saloon. A full blown show took place every morning - on a stage, complete with actors, singers, a Robert Service reading, and some bozo whacking out fiddle tunes on mandolin.
Along with those actors and musicians, came a raft of animals - several striking dogs ranging from Kobuk, a huge malamute, to a pair of long legged Mackenzie river huskies. Also on site were a pair of pot belly pigs and two donkeys, the most famous being Dewey, that fame acquired the day he bit an errant tourist in the butt
While Dewey, by nature, was already an ornery son of a gun, I don’t believe he was entirely to blame for the incident. The season was long, and by the time September rolled around, the entire crew was show weary. In fact, near the end, it became increasingly difficult to tell the performers from the livestock. But I digress.
This particular morning, I was running late. I bolted into the clearing just in time to see Buckwheat Donahue strolling in from the other side. He was getting ready to do his Robert Service reading.
Buckwheat rolled into town shortly after I arrived in 1983. You saw him once, and you never forgot him. He was big, with a mane of curly hair that matched the full beard and the hearty voice that sprang full bore from his chest.
Buckwheat, from all accounts, had been in the oil business down Oklahoma way and, having decided the lower fortyeight wasn’t big enough for him, had moved to Alaska. He was perfect for the Robert Service. With that booming voice and larger than life personality, he became one of Skagway’s major attractions. A lot of that had to do with his commitment to the task at hand. Buckwheat launched himself into whatever project he tackled. If it was to be Robert Service, then damn it son, it was going to be good. Of all that though, my favourite Buckwheat story is still ‘The Walk.’
Somewhere in the Skagway years, Buckwheat developed heart disease, and was subsequently diagnosed with diabetes. The doctors thought he might have 3 to 5 years to live considering his frenetic lifestyle. As it turned out, that was not the case at all. Twenty years later he was still kicking, and he thought he might celebrate that fact with a walk across the continent.
Yeah, that’s right … across the continent … diagonally: 5300 miles from Miami to Whitehorse Yukon. That done, he decided to canoe another 2200 miles down the Yukon river to Kotlik AK - all as a fundraiser for a local hospital. The man was a force to be reckoned with.
Inevitably, Wheat’s ailments caught up with him, and he shuffled off his mortal coil, but it wasn’t without a fight. I expect he’s still reciting wee Bobby Service. These days, it’s just to a more ethereal crowd.
